    A humble servant. What a mind blowing experience if Hodor remembered this scene his whole life and continued to serve the Starks while being treated like he was and knowing that he would save the day with his final breath.

    About the wolf, Summer dying, the dire wolves represented the Stark legacy, the wolf is their house animal. Jon Snow was given the runt because Jon was "the bastard son", Rob's wolf died a little before he did symbolizing the end of that Stark member. The same said for Rickon. The death of Sansa's wolf meant that she was no longer a Stark but now a Lannister through marriage. Arya's wolf left Winterfell and lived in the wilds symbolizing that Arya has no home, not even the place she was raised. Brandon's wolf's death was meant to tell the audience that Bran was no longer Brandon Stark anymore but someone different entirely, the three eyed raven, you can easily see the change in personality.

    I watched Gone With The Wind not even a sniffle
    I watched the little girl get burned without much more then an "Aww"
    I saw the red wedding and was just like "Oh wow that's insane"
    I held back fucking tears with all my might and even still cried a bit during the Hold the door scene. I was so sad I had to watch Hodor's IRL actor DJ just to reassure myself he was just acting and he's a happy chubby little awesomedude.
    TL;DR I'm a little bitch but rightfully justified. It's Hodor damnit

    In defense of the story tellers, it is pretty well established that the Children are flawed, especially when it comes to foresight (kind of like real children).

  • @dogerriders868
    @dogerriders868 8 лет назад +20

    I think the Three eyed raven and the children didn't have him leave early because Bran had to warg into Willis and have him become Hodor. As the Three eyed raven said "the past is already written, the ink is dry" Hodor already existed in the present, so he had to become him in the past. In other words, it had to happen and having Bran leave earlier would have caused untold consequences and everything had to play out the way it did. Just my opinion anyway.

    • @dogerriders868
      @dogerriders868 8 лет назад +12

      Also, If you pay attention to Hodor before it goes down when Meera is talking to him, he looks and sounds sad as if he already is well aware of what is about to happen. Maybe despite the fact his brain had been damaged only allowing him to say "Hodor", he was more aware of things than people believed him to be. Maybe when he became Hodor he had seen what the future held for him and he lived his whole life knowing that one day what took place in the cave would be his end and he cared for the Starks, especially Bran so deeply that he accepted his fate and accepted his final brave moments. Or I'm full of shit, lol.

      I know right? It's just the only way I can think of that justifies the way things happened. Otherwise, it just seems like the Three Eyed Raven and children of the forest are lazy assholes or really stupid.

      Yh i think you're spot on there. Without Hodor Bran wouldn't have made it this far so it had to happen. The only question I have is how a 'time loop' was created in the first place but it's baffled sci fi fans for years now and i guess we might just have to accept it.

    I do not think the wights would drop dead if the Walkers were killed, I think they would if the Night King were killed. As the Night King was created differently than the other Walkers (at least as far as the show has depicted it until now), I am not sure whether he can be killed the same way as them, e. g. using dragonglass.

    I think bran wud get stuck in his vision after raven left. Therefore he wud have to cause young hodor a seizure leading to him permanently damaged. I think this was meant to happen rather than happening accidentally.

  • @sctmcg
    @sctmcg 11 месяцев назад

    Kid had a mild seizure in which he saw visions of the future and fans think it's a harrowing and traumatic experience that would alter him forever? Why would he assume for a second that it wasn't just a dream? This notion that he lived his life knowing his death is absolutely ridiculous. This video does a great job of explaining how badly written the show became by this point.

    The if you have to fight, win thing was mentioned by Brianne to Arya when they first met. She said that is why her father had her trained. I'm not sure as she used the same exact phrasing as grand pappy Stark, but it was darn close to what he said.

    • @anthonysmith3957
      @anthonysmith3957 7 лет назад +2

      Oh yeah and I totally agree about how the children of the forest could have done a MUCH better job at attacking their creations. Just like you said. I was so mad at leaf, I was like why didn't she throw that thing at the cave and collapse the cave with rubble instead of getting swarmed and temporarily fixing the problem, she could have saved herself and hodor... I blame her for hodor. No, not really but kinda.

  • @englishspirit4654
    @englishspirit4654 7 лет назад +2

    ok, although In part I agree with this video, you bring up a few valid points, but lets break it down to basics, tv series are created to entertain, it's already been confirmed that the TV series will not follow the books, or we could be watching game of thrones for a few more years. A lot is left to speculation and interpretation and each person see's it differently, my take on it was that the Children have been living behind their magic for what is highly likely hundreds of years, they built defenses around the main entrance to their cave, we do not know and cannot know what the children know about the White Walkers if they understand the way the walkers work, we cannot even be sure that raising the dead was part of the original plan, there is little to no information on that except one short scene, for all we know they took hundreds of prisoners and turned them into white walkers. What is clear is that the walkers are reproducing but still would not have the numbers (from what ive seen) to over run the south. I am not going to sit here and break down the scene, The scene including the musical score is designed to evoke a response. It's designed to make people cry, get upset of the death of one of the many loved characters. Long story short, I feel the scene was designed to separate Bran from many of the support structures he has to leave room for Benjen. First Summer, then the Children, The Raven and finally Hodor... In fact I was surprised Mira survived but then someone has to cart him off to the wall. I feel also that a lot of artistic license was taken with GRR Martins knowledge and agreement to divert the course from where the books lay so that when the newer books are released they wont be ruined by the series adaptation. Just my thoughts, all in all I enjoyed watching the video.

    Nice work, thoughtfully broken down. I can't help but feel like bloodraven is Bran the more I re-watch. I'm not a book reader but I am savvy and know BR is bloodraven but GRRM did say there would be differences in the book and TV narrative, and based solely on the evidence presented by the show how could we not believe they are the same person?
    A loop which binds his end to that of Hodor and Summer. A loop which would see him meet his end knowingly and nobly at the hands of the nights king and yet at home, in Winterfell, with his family. A loop which properly explains his knowing bran isn't ready yet.
    Bran had to learn how to connect greensight and warging by way of the Hodor Beta Testing Scheme. The practical applications are endless... and who's to say Bran doesn't meet his penance when the war is won returning to the weirwood where he must wait and prepare for his own arrival, training and death... sure why not.

      Can see it now.. Final scene coronation and Jon/Dany/Tyrion/Gendry (whoever is in charge) turns to Bran "What about you Bran, what do you do now? What's left?"
      Bran (deadpan) "I think it's time to put down some roots.."
      Brans eyes rolls back and a freshly warged Drogon swoops in to carry him off to his favourite tree.
      Sansa " 'da fuck is that supposed to mean?"
      roll credits.
      ;)

    RE: Rickard telling Eddard to win if he has to fight.
    Eddard Stark: [to Jaime Lannister] "I don't fight in tournaments because when I fight a man for real, I don't want him to know what I can do." That's kind of close to the winning mantra but I don't remember anything else. This was a good show line that I don't believe was in the books.

    Bran needed to become the three eyed raven immediately. If he left then he leaves the wierwood tree and the three eyed raven cant follow then all is lost because though Bran gets away the three eyed raven dies and humanity is doomed.

    The thing is,everything happened thebway it happened because they needed to beat the walker this way,brandon river(3eyed raven)didnt bring bran to this moment in time for him to see what his grandfather said to his father,it was meant for bran to warg into hodor,because if hodor doesnt become like this,then he wont be serving bran later,the same applies as to why they didnt try to kill the walkers before entering the cave...lets speculate that the children would of succeeded into doing so,the night king would know,and thus he would of never walked i to the cave if he knew he could be killed
    And to back this foresight,a little earlier during the sane episode we see bran touching the weirwood to go back in time and he finds himself right in front of the army of the dead,and the night king seemingly waiting fir something,well he was waiting for bran to warg there so he could put his mark on him a millenia ago so he could break trough the spells of the cave on this very day
    Now ik in the shiw the ending sucks but i hope in the book we end up learning that the night king is actually bran,im also pretty positive that what made the mad king mad was bran going back in time to ask him to burn them all(talking about the walkers)but it just drew him crazy....the entire story as we know from the moment bran climbed the tower to find cersei and jaime fucking has been shaped by bran so that everything that must happen,happen in this very specific way(think a little like avengers endgame with thanos)so that the living can end up triumphing from the dead
    Sry im so late to the party and bumping this video back up again,but i love your deductions youve made and the video!!!

    Perhaps there were restrictions or something binding for them on their side of creating the WW. Just as they made a pact with humans, maybe they have a deal with the WW. They aren't allowed to kill WW and now they can't control them. So they need the humans to kill them in the Children's stead. Ironic, because they created the WW to kill humans. Maybe they are after Bran because he is the key to their undoing under the curse. What if Bran is a sacrifice for the breaking of the WW curse?

  • @DrDress
    @DrDress 8 лет назад +4

    Why does no one discus the ethics of this scene. I really looked throughout the net for this. So my questions are these:
    To what extend does Bran do this on purpose? Was it completly accidental? Did Bran not cause it also didn't try to stop it? Or was it totaly delibarate? Or was it Fate and meant to be? Maybe Hodor telepahicaly agreed and accepted this fate somehow.
    I think this is very important for Bran character. If he willingly and knowingly sacrifised Hodor. Well that quite a cruel and selfish deed. Even if it was for some greater good. I would love to hear your comments on this.

    • @LordJeremy94

      It wasn't deliberate,it wasn't an accident,it had to happen this way,it NEEDED to play out like this
      Pretty sure Bran is also responsible for Aerys's madness,prolly tried to fix some of his mistakes and went to warn the king that he needed to burn them all(the white walkers)thus turning him into the mad king and causing him to want to burn everybody,and if the king didn't got mad
      Or then its simply that if there is no mad king...there is no rebellion,Robert never sit the Iron throne,rhaegar never end up with lyanna and Jon snow(Aegon Targaryen) is never born
