  • An increasing number of USPS postal workers are being targeted by criminals on the hunt for master keys. In 2021, 132 universal "arrow keys" were snatched away from mail carriers. By 2023, that number had more than tripled to 418, according to numbers Scripps News obtained from the Postal Inspection Service after filing a public records request. Arrow keys have been stolen from USPS postal workers in 39 states and Washington, D.C.

    I’m a letter carrier and a Christian. I tell you what, gang; I pray nonstop on the routes. I pray for the vehicles (ours and there’s) on the road, my colleagues, coworkers, all of the USPS and for strength, safety, and help when in need.
    I put in some darn good work. 👍 Thanks be to God.
    Don’t forget to pray.
    Be careful out there. 🇺🇸
    Edit: P.S. It’s not just prayer, but it’s also thanks for many things AND prayers for the people. Every mailbox, every day.
    God bless you and your family. 😊 Jesus Christ Is Lord ❤

    It would be interesting to find out how USPS Arrow Keys are turning up missing from within Post Offices. Each and every Arrow key is treated as an "accountable item". Meaning every day, these keys are typically locked up in a safe, or vault room thats locked. Every carrier must sign these keys in and out everytime they take one out on their route.
    You cant take them home and if not returned or taken home accidently you'll get a call from the supervisor or PM to bring them right back. More can be done. I've seen times when these rooms are left open while unattended during the time carriers are out on the street. So when they return they can hang up their key and replace their scanners on the chargers for them.

    • @willsalter8113
      @willsalter8113 3 месяца назад +6

      It’s simple because most of the supervisors are leaving earlier and now and days you can simply walk in the cage and grab your arrow keys and gas card if necessary without signing for anything. The old days are gone and now carriers are allowed to move as they please. If you take keys home now nobody says anything just make sure you have them back by the morning. They’ll notice the truck keys are missing before they’ll notice the arrow keys are missing.

      Maybe that's how its supposed to be, but an office I worked at for 20 years, keys were not locked up, not signed in or out. Subs would come in later in the day after the regular carriers left and take keys and not put them back. We had several keys come up missing and nobody cared...except the person on the route with the missing key. I took the vehicle key and the arrow key home with me for months so that I didn't have to spend 30 minutes the next morning looking for them.

      Replace the locks you don’t know what you’re talking about. In some zip codes it can be up to around 2,000 or more locks that the key can open up. And if they do change all those locks. The criminals will just go out and rob the new key. What got to be done is longer prison sentences.

    The IRS and DMV really needs to get with the time and stopped sending checks and documents by mail as those could easily be steal by mail thieves. Instead use online money transfer such as direct deposit for funding and in terms of documents like check statement and billing docs use digital process such as fax or email. Time has change so these service also needs to change as well. When no important stuff are done by mail anymore, mail thieves will stopped their thieving ways as junk mails will be all that they got.

    This is what we pay taxes to the police departments to do. There are not that many male carriers with arrow keys that the police department couldn't have someone waiting at the mailbox so that the person working for the postal service is safe. See, if the person wouldn't run up against the cop that has a gun and ask him for the arrow key.

    You send a check to a plumbing business to repair your toilet 🚻, they never repair it, but you notice your check that you send them was cashed anyway. You called them, they tell you that they never received your check (which was true), you just assume the plumbing company lied & scammed you out of your hard earned money without doing any repairs. In reality it was thieves who stole mail from the post office. 🤔

      Instead of check, sent money order. With money order, the receiver won't be able to cash the mo unless they had an ID on them that proof they are the receiver on the money order. Also money order unlike check won't have any of your bank information on there making it a more secured way to transfer money to any person you like.
