Années de Pèlerinage (Años de Peregrinaje) (S.160, S.161, S.163) es un conjunto de tres suites de Franz Liszt para piano solo. Liszt completo del estilo musical es evidente en esta obra maestra, que oscila entre el virtuosismo de los fuegos artificiales sinceramente movimiento estados emocionales.
I think Maestro Arrau might have been the best interpreter of Liszt at his time. He played Liszt in a contemplative ＆ spiritual way. Never flamboyant.

Much of the flamboyant side was invented by his admirers and critics. He was "contemplative and spiritual" from childhood.

@@joyr5939 The following is taken from an interview to Arrau talking about Liszt and what he learned from Liszt from his teacher Martin Krause: "Liszt always taught not showing off, but get to the core of the music that is performed… Contrary to what people think Liszt was, used to be, not a show man, but he was a great great great artist and maybe the greatest performer that ever lived… Playing Liszt one has the feeling the interpreter is composing the piece at that particular moment"

Arrau is so fantastic at this piece. His sound makes the listener forget that he is actually playing a piano. Pure music!

Claudio Arrau is a phenomenal pianist!
Arrau fue discípulo de un discípulo directo de Franz Liszt. Arrau tocaba con una sensibilidad maravillosa y el lo hace parecer tan fácil, pero esta pieza es enormemente difícil.

Arrau was one of the greats. He could bring out the true spirit of the music and make you forget where you are.
Arrau was the one who introduced me to so many great compositions that just happened to be played by the piano. Indeed he was a musician who just happened to play the piano.

Liszt fue siempre el compositor favorito de Caudio, en sus interpretaciones se nota una clara identificación con los sentimientos del genio húngaro...
voy en las nubes saltando en cada una de ella al ritmo lento del piano... es bellisima realmente esta interpretacion. la mejor del mundo creo yo.

J'ai eu la chance d'écouter le grand gourou des Andes en concert 3 ou 4 fois aux Champs Elysées et cela reste à jamais une émotion qu'ici je retrouve un peu. Que de modestie et d'harmonie en même temps! Quel jeu frôlé, modulé, que de contrastes d'intensité, que de vie!

@maxscriptguru I'm happy to say that I have learned this piece now. It was hard at first, but finally it came to me and I can play it all just how I like it. I know of hardly any other piece that is as worth it to play. I am now spoiled for anything else. What music is there after this? Life is over now....

Pero en Chopin hay mejores, por una cuestión obvia patriótica, como Zimmerman... Arrau supo ser el mejor interpretando, por ejemplo, a Liszt, porque venía casi directamente de su tutela.
