Combat effective memes are probably more dangerous than most weapons. Glad to see IanPat in the bush, now I'm waiting for a video of someone in a real combat situation 🥲
UCP may hold its pattern under IR but the base pattern itself is worse than 60 year old Soviet KLMK pajama suits that just flip inside out for night ops. UCP is still pretty flat looking on gen3+ tubes especially under illumination.
@@ChappySinclair MultiCam Black doesn't use an actual black color, it uses really dark browns and blues. i personally saw it working really well when i took up a nighttime class. the guy who wore it wasn't joking when he said MultiCam Black is better under NODs than it being in the sun, so that's why he has a spare set of cammies in the pattern that he keeps in his rucksack.
I mean, it IS in colors that fit a woodland environment well. Tan (Ian's skin), brown (Ian's polo shirt), black (Ian's hair) and green (background color). If it had, say, blue instead of brown for the polo, it wouldn't be very effective at all. UCP is not terrible, but it's "universal" in name only. It has some practical application in urban and winter, but that's about it.
Its almost as if meme lords dont have to navigate a labyrinthine bureaucracy of egos committee decisions and studies and can just make something viable.
To be honest, the only reason i can spot you in this vid is by looking for your silhouette in the limited field of view. In person walking through the woods, you would be much harder to spot. this camo blends really well.

@@hoilst265There's no blue in UCP, mostly a sort of light olive green that doesn't really exist in nature. Hahahahahahaha hellyeah!!! My buddy actually did the original design as a meme years ago, we have 3 other variants of palette color differences too lol, actually kinda works well LOL!
This reminds me of an idea I had for a camouflage pattern to paint onto the sides of a deer blind. Rows and columns of vertical 1 by 3 inch rectangles. Then by rolling dice or flipping a coin, randomly color them using green , grey and tan. Just to see what patterns it produces.
OMG. just, wut? Love it. edit: super impressed. I'm starting to wonder is reducing shape, shine, symmetry, lines, blending color, reducing movement, and such; might be more important than pattern?
A couple i picked you out instantly, a couple where there was a lot of brush in front of you making the camo irrelevant, and a few where it really worked. I might get a set just for novelty. Edit: nevermind, i see they're largely out of stock.
Seeing this kind of reminds me of something I've been looking into myself, camouflage that doesn't look like camouflage. I always wondered how more everyday clothing like plaid, flannel and Hawaiian shirts in earthy tones would do in the wild while not making you stick out in day to day life like actual camo would.
They probable came up with that having a few adult beverages after work, costing just the liquor. Here in the US we spent millions of $ to come up with UCP, which then fails miserably.
I know its been mentioned but at a distance this has a Vietnam US advisor duck hunter vibe to it. Who on earth would have thought Ian could blend in so well?
The “meta”, “ironic”, anti-camouflage camouflage. You wear this…you’re making a statement. It’s brilliant. Hope they make a men’s _Speedo_ style swimming bikini bottom.
So, I turned up the brightness on my 2k resolution 9.7" tablet screen and was able to spot "not quite right" shapes in 2, 3, 5, 8 (super easy), and 9. Didn't think to pause for 1 before you moved, so mulligan, and threw out 4 because you were completely concealed behind vegetation. 6, 7, and 10 were all in deep shadow, so wasn't really a test of the camo, but you did stay hidden.
