I can guarantee you as a professional light and sound technician in the Netherlands that everything is pre-processed. Also called a timecode. You have technical shooting days for that and general rehearsals. The light, sound, video and special effects only have to press a button and everything comes pre-programmed. There is no but in a live performance. I can guarantee you that nothing was editted in this video the way you try to explain. My guess is that every Tom, Dick and Harry knows that the water was not just poured over the performers real time. This performance by Davina was the interval act during the semifinal of the Eurovision song contest last Tuesday. It is held in the Netherlands because the last time the festival was held, Duncan Laurence won for our country with 'Arcade'. She sang live, contrary to what some people claim, because they doubt that someone can sing live so well. But I know I don't have to convince you of that ; ) When Davina is pulled into the water, you see the Stormsurge ‘Oosterscheldekering’. It is the largest and most famous Delta Work. The 9 km (!) long storm surge barrier closes off the Sea at imminent high water. The Dutch surface is two-thirds below sea level and the Netherlands has had to fight against the water over the centuries. Before Davina's intermission performance, there had been 16 countries competing for a spot in the final. Imho, nobody made it to the world class of Davina's performance, but I am perhaps a little biased, because I am Dutch 😄
On top of the 'this was live' argument, I want to add that earlier in the live show, one of the primary cameras (#5 out of 24 total in the show I think?) broke down, which led to them having to juggle cameras a bit from then on. I think it is noticeable in this performance because there was one or two occasions where she seems to be focused on a camera that obviously isn't present to shoot something. I think it shows just how well they managed the show that it is possible to completely miss such a technical snafu unless you know of the issue existing.

This was written for the Eurovision contest, not as a contending song, but as a showcase/theme song about the Dutch relationship with water, the need for water everywhere. For the Dutch, our link with water is obvious, we've been "fighting" the North Sea for centuries and have tamed her, took land back from her and created ways to keep our nation safe from the destructive power of water. So that is kind of why the song is about water in a broader sense, really great song and in all honesty... this non-contending song pretty much stole the show that evening lol, such high class. Also noteworthy, the Dutch also have a high reputation when it comes to production of any kind in audio/visuals/staging/media and the likes, for this event we took our best engineers and directors etc to make tis show happen, a show that is broadcast to an audience of over 200 million people. So as a nation, you really want to show your abilities when it comes to the Eurovision Song Contest, and this makes it a major publicity billboard as well. We really need to send Davina to the contest itself some day, same goes for Floor Jansen.. both would slay the contest with ease. Thnx for the react man :D

But look here at Davina. As you see we didn't need to fly in an expensive singer and we even got a way better performance 😁.

This was the interval act and it’s about the relationship between the Netherlands and Water. a BIG part of the Netherlands lays below sea-level, the Netherlands are kind of experts in fighting water because if we don’t do that we would drown away. This song basically is about how we need to share knowledge about our water and save life’s with the knowledge that our country has.
The performance is inspired by the 'waternoodsramp' in the Netherlands. The Netherlands has the best water management system in the world since it is the only country in the world that is below sea level. The video shows the imporant relationship between the country and the massive destructive force of water.
The song really is about two things, One: The fact so many in the world lack water, whilst others have more than an abundance of water and that we should try to share. Two: The horrors the Dutch have suffered from said water, the Disaster, yes for us in The Netherlands it's The Disaster(Watersnoodramp) of 1953, after a severe storm the sea defences of the Netherlands failed and almost 2000 people lost their lives due to the floods. After this, we Dutch decided to never again allow this to happen and we constructed the worlds largest and most elaborate sea surge defence system ever, called the Deltawerken(Delta Works) and the Zuiderzeewerken(Zuiderzee Works) which turned the Zuiderzee into the IJsselmeer(Lake IJssel) and created the land now called Flevoland, which is 545 sq miles of land conquered from the ocean. Nowadays many Dutch companies build dams and surge protections all over the world and even reclaim/conquer land from the ocean, for example in Dubai and we are regarded as the best hydro engineers in the world, which we all have to thank to our historical struggles with water and our connection to it. @@erikvermeer2933 I think this is a "live broadcasted registration" of the performance opposite to an "afterward edited video". Of course there were a lot of people preparing, producing and directing this show, it was an immense and complicated project with 2 years of preparation. In the TV show of Humberto Tan a lot was explained by the 3 diffrent directors of the show and some video footage of the directing screens and computers was shown. It was amazing to see how all the camera's were switching previously programmed etc. The registration was not edited after the performance.
