      Greetings... We moved from Windhoek to Canada 40 years ago...Namibia(South West Africa) was pretty desolate of people back then. Namibia must have changed quite a bit I think. My Dad(went back to marry)/step mom + 3 half sisters(or more?) are still there in Windhoek I think?..... Blessings :)

      Try visiting the Caribbean, especially Jamaica 🇯🇲, nice climate, vibeszy people, lots of entertainment and lots to do and see in Jamaica and the Caribbean. Nice white sandy beaches. You will feel at home, you and your family will definitely fit in. The other elements will vanish such as crime etc. These things are everywhere and will be eradicated soon. Other wise it is great , lovely weather, great food, nice entertainment and racism is not prevalent here since majority of us are black but a few classism. But we understand ourselves. All in all visit Jamaica and the Caribbean. I myself just left The UK and return home to live in Jamaica. Going to tour the rest of the Caribbean soon.

    You may think you have a boring life, but in actual you have a blessed life..Your husband is obviously making enough so you can stay home and raise your beautiful child..How many of us can do that here in the U.S..We have to celebrate Black Love more, so keep showing us your everyday life..because most of wished we lived around people who look like us without the fear and depression of Western societies. I have been to a couple of African countries..when you first get there, its like returning home..I can't wait to go back..hopefully one day live.

    Soon racism will get so bad that Dark skin people here in amerikkka will have to choose between fleeing or fighting. Your experience in the Motherland is priceless to those of us who plan to hit and run. Just looking at your videos of beautiful, safe, self governing, happily bored Dark skin people soothes my soul. Thank you

    Frankly speaking, i don't know why you should plan to to move back to US. If Otjiwarongo is boring, it means there are opportunities in the entertainment industry for kids, adults..., there is a room to do something different. Also, it is a good city "town" for your parents to retire in. As tourism is growing in Namibia, so is the hospitality sector such as event planning, restaurant and bars, themes parks... Why not opening and a small but nice bar in Windhoek, i suggest a rooftop one with live music ;) ?

    I am so glad you decided to film that outing with your family. Very refreshing to see. And I'm sure for many African Americans who have never been to the continent, this shows that Africa is not some barren savanna only meant for wildlife. I would say that a good thing to do with your son (if it is not too inconvenient) is to let him spend the first 10 yrs of his life in Namibia then when he's old enough to have a good sense of self, then you should move with to the U.S. so that he can get access to the educational opportunities. Of course you should decide what is most convenient for you and your family but I know you'll find that perfect middle ground. Please keep the videos coming! You got me contemplating moving back to Tanzania. The nostalgia is real.

    I'm not a fan of the word "flee" when it comes to the U.S. and African Americans in Africa. We help build the U.S. and dealing with the racism part of the society is a work in progress. My appreciation of Africa is its culture that I want instilled in my whole family - aunts/uncles/nieces/nephews,etc. and as an African American I want to contribute to improving Africa's infrastructure. Something I truly feel is that the better Africa is, Blacks around the world will be looked at in a different light. It's going to take a while.
    I like what you're doing in Namibia and hope in your own way it improves the local area and beyond. Inspiring.

    I’ll be in a position to do a lot of international traveling in about 2 years when my kids leave the house. I’ve been to Mother Africa(Djibouti) once when I was stationed there with the U.S. Marine Corps; I absolutely loved it. Only issue was that I became extremely sick due to a waterborne parasite almost killing me. Now I have to take medication for the rest of my life because when they killed the parasite, it caused my immune system to go into overdrive. Basically my immune system attacks my intestines. I have to do a chemotherapy treatment every six weeks to suppress my immune system. I know that most African countries are more modern than the media portrays here in the USA. I have given lots of thought towards moving to one of Africa’s nation but I have to be certain I’ll be able to have access to medical treatment that is basically keeping me alive.

It is hard to adjust to about anywhere coming from New York. My fiancee is from Brooklyn and she's easily bored. Philly keeps her marginally stimulated. Appreciate your honest convo- a very real one for us on the other side of the waters. Your vlog expands our options and gives us a view and brings us closer to a home only remembered in our DNA. This is a very real decision woke ones have to make..light or dark skin...we are all blacks to them and should not negotiate or settle for a system that barters our humanity.

    I hope your health is doing better now. If not your immune system is weak therefore causing multiple "colds" in a short period of time. Eat more fruit,vegetables and drink more water (helps flush toxins,bacteria,virus etc.) through the kidneys/liver. Peace and Blessings.

    Thanks for this vlog. It's fascinating to watch life in Africa, even if you are just walking down the street. It's a beautiful environment to raise a family. I know exactly what you mean about the subtleties of racism in North America (I live in Canada). My husband is Ghanaian and has been here for a decade now and I still don't think he gets it!! I hope you will continue to vlog. Stay well

    • @AfroAmericaninAfrica
      @AfroAmericaninAfrica  7 лет назад

      Yes, exactly!! The subtleties are real and my husband isn't hip to all of that. Plus my dad lives in Manhattan and people there can be so brash. My husband adapts pretty well on the surface when we visit and many immigrants do but I don't know.. definitely leaves a lot to consider.

    Hi, "calkc" is calcium in the water. This means your water is very hard, and scale builds up very fast in your kettle.
    For your cold, I recommend that you take "Flugon". This also builds up you immune system. I started to take one capsule each morning in March after my last cold, and voila, it works! No cold up to now. For now, get well soon!

    • @AfroAmericaninAfrica
      @AfroAmericaninAfrica  7 лет назад

      Thanks for the great commentary as always Barbara! I have been meaning to google Calc too. That's exactly what happens here... the water leaves this build up on everything and it's so annoying! I will also look for some Flugon too, thanks again.

      You can remove this build up with vinegar mixed with water. On my kettle, I use plain vinegar. It is ok if you buy spirit vinegar which is cheaper. A wonderful and blessed Sunday to you.

    Girl your son reminds me so much of my second son! Fireball of energy. My husband always says if he was first we would've thought twice to have another so soon! Lol! And winter there sounds like Vegas! Freezing wind with hot sun lol! I'm jealous because I could fry an egg on my car right now😂😂. And girl I feel like I've been in the twilight zone since November too. president Trump is an oxymoron and I refuse to say it. Lol.i love seeing Namibia! So interesting ! Loved this💜

      LOL, yes! Exactly! Sooo much energy! LOL! And yup, I've even heard people say Namibia looks a lot certain American states in the mid-west and west coast... it's a lot of desert country so your description is spot on! And yes, he's a complete oxy (moron). lol Thanks so much for watching!
