Always enjoyable to hear you talking on Jess Franco, Alex! I really need to explore his Elite films phase more, I find the behind-the-scenes stories of the production of many of his films extremely entertaining!
Cool that you made a video on Franco's birthday ☺️My first movies were Venus in furs and 99 women I too like his Dietrich periode ...Got all the German Golden Goya bluray's except two ..
Thanks again, Alex. Still am not sold on Franco yet, but probably haven't seen the right one. I will keep tuning in and seek out some of your recommendations. I will let you know which ones finally 'click'! Many thanks!
Hey a new video! Cool. I should revisit Vampyros Lesbos. I've seen it only once, liked it but was puzzled why everyone seems to love it so much. I prefer other Francos by far. - You mention German cinema. Normally I stay away from it - but at the moment I have a Helmut Käutner addiction.
People rarely talk about Helmut Käutner, I don't know his cinema very well because he's done so much but he's definetely an interesting one. What are your favourites?
@@AL_TFA That's difficult. I have seen now 7 (okay, maybe I have seen as a child more on TV or so). And I loved all 7. The ones that got my excited the most were maybe: In Those Days (1947) and Der Apfel ist ab (1948). And of course his classic: Große Freiheit Nr. 7 (1944). There will be in an American or British Bluray set (Film Noir set) one film by him: Schwarzer Kies (Black Gravel, 1961). That one is very good, too. Maybe when that one is released they will talk more about his films. (Found it: Radiance will release it in: World Noir Vol. 2 in August). // Which ones have you seen?

Thanks for watching. Man, I need to re-watch Venus in Furs. It's been a while.
@@AL_TFA That's a movie that really needs a upgrade to bluray...such cool music and excellent cast
Yeah I agree, Venus in Furs is quality Franco. In some ways it's his best work.

Please do!

I only know bits of Große Freiheit Nr. 7 (which has some great visuals) and Des Teufels General with Curd Jurgens.
