More watercolor pencils please! I love the way you teach about them as you do your art. Good watercolor pencil tutorials are much harder to find, especially with an artist as easy to follow and learn from as you 💜
I am painting with acrylic paint since years. Last week I got my first watercolor pencils and I am struggling 😅 My paintings never turn out like I want them to. I am so glad that I found your tutorial and I will try to follow it tomorrow, you explained everything very well and I am sure that it'll help me to start understanding what I am doing with these pencils 😄 Thank you!
I've had a set of watercolour pencils for 2 years wasn't sure how to use them, Now I do...This was so informative I learnt So much, The Flower is Absolutely Beautiful Thank You I just had to subscribe 🤗
I am just getting back into art...this looks like a great place to start. Yours came out beautiful. I have a large cottage garden..with a lot of coneflowers...one of my favorites.
Thank you Emily, I just starting to do some art work after many years .. This was so clear & helpful. Using cheap pencils right now to practice but am planning on getting some higher quality ones soon, I think they have more pigment. Looking forward to more tutorials.
Derwent inktense pencils are an ink based pencil that react with water. They are very rich in colour and work well with watercolour pencils for intensity of colour. Fab tutorial with beautiful a example TFS 🤩
I throughly enjoyed this video amd it was in real time. Very satisfying. I have to work on a portfolio for the first time and this just helped me tremendously. Thumbs up!
Lovely work! I have had watercolor pencils but never really used them that much. Im gonna try this soon and post it on my RUclips channel! By the way, you earned my sub!
Emily I learned a lot! Thank you. I have a question about the markers you used. Could I get the same effect with the very fine Sharpie markers? I've never used the markers you have so I don't know the difference! Thanks.
I was distracted by your hand pushing the pencils out of the way😯 one more moan...I was told in watercolour class to never use black , only darken with blue..... your flower looks great.😊
Watercolor pencils do get really dark, even black-black, and you can get incredibly rich, dark, and vibrant colors from them. Unfortunately, however, they are one of those art mediums where the quality (and therefore, the price) does make a big difference in the performance, regardless of the level of skill used. Cheaper pencils like these aren't going to get very dark, even with a lot of layers, because they are mostly binder with only a little bit of pigment. They are great for doing bases for colored pencil work, and great for just quick, fun, on-the-go painting, and for learning the medium. But that is pretty much their limit. If you want to get darker and/or more vibrant colors from watercolor pencils, you really do need to get a more expensive set. A good one to start with is prismacolor. Their watercolor pencils are pretty affordable for their quality. They are nicely pigmented and very rich and vibrant. You can easily get dark colors with them without having to layer very much. If you want to actually make more advanced art with watercolor pencils instead of just using them for a base or for fun doodles, they are a great starting point. If you want to get even better quality pencils, I love Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer watercolor pencils. Derwent also makes some great ones. As you step up in quality, the limitations described in this video really start to disappear, so please don't be discouraged from using them because you think they won't get you the colors that you want. You just need to make sure that you get the right ones.
@@EmilyOlsonArt I am jealous! I want those so much, but I really can't justify spending the money on them when I have like three other sets of watercolor pencils (four if you count Inktense). I hope that you will post a review about them!
I will definitely make a video with them! They were on sale on Jerry’s Artarama so I got the set of 40. I’m excited!! Do you paint with watercolor pencils often? What is your favorite subject matter for the medium?
@@EmilyOlsonArt I don't get to use them as often as I would like to, unfortunately, due to some hand tremors brought on by autoimmune disease. But I really enjoy florals and faces. Because of my hand issues, I can't really draw things myself anymore, but I have found that using them in coloring books is an enjoyable alternative. Not as creatively rewarding as doing it all myself, but still fun because I get to experience the painting part, at least.
Oh I am so sorry to hear that! It must be incredibly frustrating when the mind is willing but the hand is not. That is wonderful that you continue to paint and enjoy the process. Thanks again for your wonderful comment. I’m sure many viewers will benefit from your knowledge. ❤️
I think there are issues with your microphone. I have to keep adjusting my computer sound and youtube sound because you fade in and out. I do like this flower and will definitely be trying it.
you made such a beautiful job with paintbrush it's a pity you added the outlines. lessnatural. From what I see watercolor pencil requires to modearate the amount of pigment you leave on the paper and keeping separated the area you want to blend drawing in their opposite size than with paintbrush and water blending them pushing water in between.
Iam 77 years old an i still do all types of painting an you r the best❤
Wow that's great! Still going strong!
This has got to be one of the most beautiful watercolor pencil tutorials I have ever seen. The final product is so very pretty! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much!

Thanks so much. I'm going to try this project with my daughter. :-)
Have fun!
Excellent
Very good
I dunno... The Supracolor I have doesn't have this kind of payload. They are incredibly staining. Once activated they don't seem to budge very much.
I love how fun and informative this tutorial is! Consider me subscribed! 😁 Now I want to get me some watercolor pencils! 😅
Ove the tutorial. Will try it. :)

Do you have to wait for each layer to dry before you add more colour

I need these materials, don't know where I can buy the water brush and water-proof fine markers.
Most art stores carry water brushes, and if you can’t find Copic markers, fine line sharpies work great, too!

From which brand these water colored pencils are ?
These are General pencil.
Beautiful flower! Great tutorial :) tnx
One new support from me and a like 👍😊
I hope that we will become friends and connect. Have a nice day 😊 ❤️
Could you do a watercolor pencil poppies?
Great idea!
What is the benefit of pencils? I’m just now discovering them.
I think it’s more of a personal preference thing. :-) I actually don’t use them very often.
