I can't believe were in a timeline where DK is actually pretty dang viable. His advantage state was always nuts, but I didn't think anyone would push him this far because of the "low tier" stigma he has.

@@2LoopMk No not really. Acola has defeated top Japenese players with DK (although he of course plays Steve more). Chunkykong has also made a lot of good noise at Let's Make Moves Miami (he even defeated a top Steve main and made top 13). That's 3 players and they all played DK well at many different HUGE tournaments. Not just locals, majors and packed regionals. That says a lot about our meta rn.

I feel like what Larry's got going on rn is everything I want in a smash channel. No pandering yelling or unnatural comedy. Analysis, tournament reactions, character breakdown, and top player insight & wisdom. There's a certain kind of modest honesty I feel while watching. Loving it.
I've never seen Hikaru play before, but I really like him lol. Awesome seeing a dk do so well, and he's a player with personality which is always fun to watch.

Fun fact:
Before this tournament, Bloom was disliked by a big part of the france community.
He is Gluto's demon and he's a serious threat to become the number one in Europe.
But at the start of this tournament, it was announces he joins BMS (the french team behind Raflow).
So now, the french crowd loves him, that's why you can hear some vuvuzela everytime he takes a stock against Hikaru.
It's cool to see Europe united like that.
Also Tea and Hikaru are superstars in Europe, you can see them play with the crowd after every set, it was crazy.
Why was he disliked?
@@crescentryoshi3717 Well, there's still some rivalry between France and UK to decide which is the best EU country. Bloom plays a weird character, he's 16 and he's winning against our local hero. Also, Gluto stuggle against Bayo partly because of his tendinitis.
Clearly, Bloom is an awesome player but it can be bitter for some Gluto's fans.

I fight DK on a regular basis and I know for a fact that DK is actually really good. He's got 3 top reps placing well at majors (Hikaru, Chunkykong, and Acola on occasion), AND he is absolutely busted online.
I fought so many haters people kept saying “His disadvantage is trash he’s automatically bottom 5” but I explained to them about Hikaru but nobody listened glad Hikaru dominated here now people are jumping on the bandwagon 🤣
He also does well against Peach lol

I have always said that DK is solo viable. I've mained the character since the start of the Smash series and I always knew that when fully optimized, Donkey Kong can go toe to toe with even some of the best characters.

3:27 as a Marth main, I can say I don't like this Match-up either, although I do believe Marth has an easier time against DK because Marth can combo this Monke WAY more than Lucina could. Marth can also kill DK way earlier, which is super crucial against heavies that can easily cheese you at any moment. Of course if you suck at landing tippers, you might as well play Lucina. Thankfully, I don't suck :)

Actually top 5 though? I don't believe so. Even finishing top 10 this season will not be that easy for Gluto, unless he finishes well in the SWT. There's like 15 potential top 10 players this season. And losing to non-top 10 players like Hikaru, Bloom(x3), Gackt, Mr.R, Jahzzo, will only add to the decline in ranking. That tendinitis is killing him.

@@penny7551 Idk even then I think there is still an argument for Mac. MKLeo almost lost to Peanut while playing Byleth which is an incredible feat. Lost his final stock by a forward tilt which could have easily been wiffed and little Mac could have punished. The fact it was against like Leo who is probably the most adaptive opponent ever is what makes this so insane. I think Mac has a chance.
Gannondorf well I cannot really say there is anything for him but... I still want to believe someone can do it in a tournament setting. Gannondorf is extremely strong for every hit he does and even stronger when nobody wants lose to a gannondorf in bracket due to embarrassment.
