I didn’t discover GSN until 1998, but it was still a fun channel at the time. If you could’ve saw my reaction when I discovered that they played old TPIR Reruns, you would’ve thought I won the lottery or something, because until then, the only time I could watch it was when it came on at 11 am, and I was still in grade school, so that cut my chances down to only school breaks and summer vacation. Those were some pretty good times.

The first three years were the best. Wish I had GSN then. But then the dark period and GSN was slowly going downhill. Up until 2001. But the infomercials and the split screen credits and cutting out fee plugs continued.

If PIR was part of this we could have had Johnny O's last episode, Rod Roddy's first episode, or perhaps Vanna White's episode of PIR

My grandmother got me a sattelite dish for christmas in 1995 when i was nine because I wanted GSN. But it was hit available on Prime star at the time and would not be available until spring of 1997. I wish I would have gotten GSN in its heyday.

Right before Nick at Nite's TV Land launched on April 29, 1996 with a seven minute introduction and montage before showing classic TV favorites and retromercials, Game Show Network launched on December 1, 1994 with an original opening montage of clips from classic TV Game Shows of the past 50 years. And as everything has gone to FremantleMedia's BUZZR, Game Show Network is now different to this day.

One thing I can give Sony credit for was they put Wheel of Fortune with the 70s shows since it premiered in 1975. But unfortunately the episodes from v the Woolery run were destroyed. so they put episodes from the current version. Episodes that were from the 80s.

Donald Trump was in the game show business four years earlier with Trump Card and NO! The Apprentice DOES NOT count as a game show!

GSN used to mean something back in the day. Now it’s just recycled pilots that didn’t catch on the first time or Harvey Family Fuel reruns.

That’s the case with a lot of cable channels these days.
If you ask me, the whole paradigm of linear television is being swallowed by streaming services.
As for GSN, in my book it was really good up through 2008 or so, then time marches on as it always does, the older shows lose their place on the lineup, and the network focuses on more recent shows.
The lineup was still ok until they spammed Steve Harvey’s Family Feud around 2012-2018 or so.
Quite frankly you could argue that the fact that they removed the older programs in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s led to the whole community of RUclips game show episode uploads forming.

Game Show Network Sucks, now. I really enjoyed the classic game shows, but now, the network lost its luster!
