I must have heard upwards of 1000 covers of "Eye of the Tiger" since it came out by Survivor. When I wrote it with Frankie I did not predict the longevity of this anthem and the amount of various versions (including Weird Al Yankovic’s great parody "Rye Or the Kaiser" -- “Do you want your corned beef on the rye or the Kaiser?” Lol!
I just watched a version that turned my head around and opened my eyes and ears. Performed by a band called Walk Off the Earth. This young conglomerate totally reinvents the song to a kind of island/reggae pop. And it works!! It never sounds corny or inappropriate. And it totally cooks. The genuine joy on your faces really comes through in the groove and the music. Congrats guys and doll for an awesome job.

High praise and well deserved. Walk off the Earth's monstrously talented members have this fantastic way of taking an amazing song and just bringing it to a whole other level as well as writing their own "best-part-of-home vibe" tunes.

There’s a definite medieval reggae vibe to this cover. Your creativity as a band never ceases to amaze. And kudos to the flute player for proving, once and for all, that humans can dance sitting down.

I love how, no matter what they're doing, they always seem to come across like a bunch of buskers who just randomly came together to create musical magic! And like those buskers, their sheer joy for their craft shines through loud and clear! Well done and woop woop, WOTE WOTE! Haha!
I agree I love walk off the earth my dream is to see them at a concert, I have a virtual one planned and that is going to be really cool but I still hope to see them in person one day. :)

why is this so chill? Whereas the og version has me feeling motivated to keep walking, this has me feeling like its alright to stop and take a second to enjoy where i'm at.

It’s fun for me to focus on each musician for a time. and watch their flow in and out of the grove. No parts are ever overplayed it make this truly amazing to listen to.

This reminds me of an idea that I've had for a show where bands would come on and play music that is completely foreign to their genre, like a rock band would come on and play some easy listening or pop ballads or disco song in their own interpretation, and vise versa. I bet it would be fun to hear something totally unexpected coming from the musicians. As for this performance, I think it's great that this younger generations finding these old hits that I grew up listening to and coming up with their own unique versions.
