I must have heard upwards of 1000 covers of "Eye of the Tiger" since it came out by Survivor. When I wrote it with Frankie I did not predict the longevity of this anthem and the amount of various versions (including Weird Al Yankovic’s great parody "Rye Or the Kaiser" -- “Do you want your corned beef on the rye or the Kaiser?” Lol! I just watched a version that turned my head around and opened my eyes and ears. Performed by a band called Walk Off the Earth. This young conglomerate totally reinvents the song to a kind of island/reggae pop. And it works!! It never sounds corny or inappropriate. And it totally cooks. The genuine joy on your faces really comes through in the groove and the music. Congrats guys and doll for an awesome job. Jim Peterik, Co-writer of "Eye of the Tiger" and member of The Ides of March, formerly of Survivor and of 38 Special fame.

High praise and well deserved. Walk off the Earth's monstrously talented members have this fantastic way of taking an amazing song and just bringing it to a whole other level as well as writing their own "best-part-of-home vibe" tunes.
This band seems like so much fun. They are all actually having the times of their lives, living the dream!! Congratulations and keep spreading love and joy, the world needs more of it!
There’s a definite medieval reggae vibe to this cover. Your creativity as a band never ceases to amaze. And kudos to the flute player for proving, once and for all, that humans can dance sitting down.
Goosebumps, Tears in my Eyes and a great Smile in the Face. 2.50min. of Soul in Heaven. What a great Version of the Rockytheme. Very well played and Sounding. Greetings from my Heart...a Drummer.

I'm an old musician who remembers well the music that could stop in my tracks to listen. You all have that ability to still do that. Very few bands these days can stop me in my tracks. WOTE does. Thankyou for your musical gifts of tunes.
I'm just going back through a few of my favourite WOTE tracks and I saw your comment. It's this exactly. Really nicely put, 3 years ago and still true now!
Harmonies are spot on, and creative! Well chosen instruments to create the exact style they were going for. It was amazing! Beautiful voices! I can't stop smiling. WOW!
why is this so chill? Whereas the og version has me feeling motivated to keep walking, this has me feeling like its alright to stop and take a second to enjoy where i'm at.
I love how, no matter what they're doing, they always seem to come across like a bunch of buskers who just randomly came together to create musical magic! And like those buskers, their sheer joy for their craft shines through loud and clear! Well done and woop woop, WOTE WOTE! Haha!

The original was beautfully crafted. Jim Peterik has proven to be one of our ultimate musicians. The Eye of the Tiger offers proud testament to his enduring gift as an aritst/songwriter, he has an unyeilding passion for his craft. The cover is...exactly what it is...a cover. And a good one. Survivor sold 956.000 copies in the UK alone. I'm not downplaying the talented musicians that produced this cover version - but neither should you up-play it to be something that will ever reach the merits of the original. It's a great cover version by these talented musicians - however I'm sure they don't expect us to compare it to the original.
