      Many people probably can't hear it. It is around 12khz. Some earphones and speakers will not put out a frequency that high and quite a few people, usually past their 20's, cannot hear that frequency range. If you know how to use extensions, you can get different EQ extensions and turn down the higher frequencies and that should work to get rid of it.

    I wonder if leakage of chi associated with the magpie bridge not being formed, is a metaphor for the necessity of not leaking energy by too much talking, in that the denser aspects of our being is prone to much verbal expression with regards to our experience? In Western wisdom tradition this is considered a major leakage of high frequencies of energy as it ends up feeding the density rather than holding, developing and refining energy during certain phases of development . Because it is the tongue it would point to this possibility. Holding the tongue to the roof of the mouth would be a metaphor for "hold your tongue" as in not speaking...it is kinda hard to talk with the tongue up there.

    Thank you Damo.
    Interesting fact about the separation of the 4 points to get formation of the 'dantien'. What do you do if you have adhesions within the ribcage 'abdominal contents' area. Will it still be possible to separate the 4 points?
    Regarding te magpie bridge on how to know if its 'formed' as you mentioned; does its formation depend on having opened the mideyebrow and forehead points?. Also does the pallet 'dome up' as in your should feel a doming of teh pallet when you do the reverse breathing process?

    • @LotusNeiGong
      @LotusNeiGong  4 года назад +5

      Interesting questions :)
      Adhesions should be fine as the points that move and separate will adapt to this.
      If the magpie bridge is formed then the roof of your mouth will deliver a very slight electrical current into the tip of your tongue when you touch the tongue to the roof of your mouth.
      The roof of your mouth will change shape over time, yes. Some people have a slightly deformed roof of their mouth and this needs to change to a fair degree before the magpie bridge will form. This is more important than opening any points on the region of the head :)

    At about 15 minutes in: I realize this is an inner door teaching, but on the surface, severing the four cords seems like a really bad idea to me. I've been practicing awhile and have had some good progress, but I probably do not approach Damos level and am not trying to sound like an expert or anything like that. Mostly just really curious and sparking some thoughts.
    I had at one point over compressed my dantian which caused it to not 'catch' as much on the governor and functional channels and so they did not flow as much and it was really bad for my over all health. I'd liken it to as if I bought a new fancy and strong set of pedals for my bike but then the gears were no longer large enough to catch the chain. Luckily I caught myself in time before I did any permanent damage, but I did suffer and it took years to fix myself. But on that line of reasoning I have some real trouble understanding why anyone would want to cut the cords. Isn't that like severing a circuit? Why would the body even develop those circuits if they are detrimental to the whole? And what if 'severing' is a mistranslation? What if it really means to 'cut' through all the stagnation and garbage between the four points and the cauldron so that the connection actually becomes stronger, just like we do with all of the damage and stagnation that runs through all the rest of the channels. I just have some real trouble understanding why anyone would want to cut those cords.

  • @adriandeng1406

    Great video Damo. A simple-minded question: If the 'water' in the painting is meant to be 'climbing up' (the spine), why is the 'water' flowing under the bottom temple’s gate (next to the right-most red wheel) pictured looking very much as though it is flowing down through it?
    If 'pumping the water' up the spine had been the desired outcome, why wouldn't the authors have painted the result of the farmers' action in a clear way, i.e. clearly showing the 'water' being pushed up?
    Looking at this picture as it is painted, it seems to be depicting a river goes down the spine and fills the lake at the bottom of the painting.
    What of course catches attention is that a gate (underneath the bottom temple) would have been built to partially obstruct the down-flowing ‘water’, perhaps to convert its kinetic energy into some work (as in a water-wheel-powered mill) or into some other form of energy?
    Just getting into this interesting topic through your videos, and commenting on what I see in the painting with my own eyes.

    • @LotusNeiGong
      @LotusNeiGong  4 года назад +3

      Sure thing :) The natural flow of water would be down a mountain but this is all about 'reversing the course' which is a large point of the entire chart. The method of reversal is what all of this is based upon.
      The water moves from the base of the spine into a pool at the perineum 'naturally' and this may be what they are getting at in the image, but conversion of vital substances and fluids goes against this cycle. At least in the early to intermediate stages.
      On top of that, just to make it worse, even compass directions are switched around in these old teachings :)

      @@LotusNeiGong Thanks for the insight and looking forward to your more in-depth video about Nei Jing Tu!
      Good to know not to take the painting’s details too literally.
      At the same time, it is fascinating that they’d reveal so much precise instruction in the painting
      but would also carelessly paint the ‘water’ clearly flowing down, gushing out downwards through the three gates, and would paint the river getting wider the further down the spine it goes…
      while the intention for the practitioner is to get an energy to move in the opposite direction.
      Couldn’t resist to check if there could be some physical correlation with what is naturally happening in our normal body functioning…
      Fascinatingly, the cerebrospinal fluid that is produced in the brain’s CSF-filled cavities is naturally ‘pumped’ down through a physical channel formed in the middle among the spine’s nerve bundles.. and when it reaches the bottom of the spine, it is then pushed up the spine (and back to the brain for recycling) on the external side of the spine’s nerve bundles.
      So there is an actual physical circulation of fluid taking place up and down the spine…
      Could it be that the downward stream as seen in the painting could actually be pictured correctly, perhaps delivering the jing (?) to the bottom lake?
      If the physical correlate of CSF circulation had any relevance, the red energy along the banks of the river could represent the rising energy (that is the intent of the practice) carried up by utilising the naturally up-flowing CSF?
      Not really sure why I’m following up in this way after you responded the way you did… Just finding it difficult to imagine why the author/s of the scroll would carelessly include anything irrelevant in the painting.
      Perhaps you’ll reveal more about this in the upcoming Nei Jing Tu video/s that you mentioned.
