- It is time for the next project, and this one is going to be another beautiful guitar kit from Precision Guitar Kits. This time we are going a completely different route with a really cool custom opaque paint job that I have planned. I hope you guys will enjoy this build, I'm really looking forward to it.

You can't go wrong with PGK. Their millwork and fret work is second to none. And worth the extra money. And the quality of their woods is also top notch. I've done two of their SGs and they rival my best Gibsons.
They are definitely tough to beat
Yeah, I've been looking at an archtop kit that's just neck and body. Same reasoning, I'm going to put what I want in it, so... Looking forward to what you do with this one Brad.
Can’t wait to see this project finished. I have a kit that’s been sitting for 5 years now. So I might have you beat on sitting around. Thanks for sharing!
Haha it happens sometimes.
Looking forward to the new project. I’m interested to see what the finish is going to be.
It’s going to be a fun one I think
Looks like we're starting our commissions for the same guy around the same time! Awesome. I'm stoked just to be in the same league brother!! You know I love your work!✌️&💙
You are definitely on the same level. We just need to get your subscriber numbers to match and get you that plaque!!
Your scratch building skills are out of my league Todd.
Great to see you getting back at it Brad. Some weird aliasing going on with this video.
I’m having some software issues lately, but I don’t know how to fix the damn thing haha.
Looks like a pretty good quality kit.
They are all good from these guys.
Cool... I'm just starting a similar build so just in time man....👍
Excellent! Although you’ll probably be faster haha.
Totally looking forward to this! Just wanted to note for anyone looking at these that I recently ordered a Precision kit based on your last series and it's great quality except the bridge had some decent tearout. Not sure if it's me but when I reached out the owner became extremely unpleasant to deal with. Not a big deal, because it's going to be an awesome Explorer when it's done!
I’m sorry to hear that they weren’t good to deal with. They were good to me, but that’s not really a surprise since they knew I was going to build it on the channel.
Brad, Attaching the neck to the body is seamless. There is no movement there. I was going to suggest that you use a construction laser light to center the middle of the body to the center of the nut on the neck, but that looks incredibly precisioned, no pun intended. Good for you man. Couldn't have asked for anything tighter.
Yeah, I’ll have to be careful not to use too much glue. I’ll still check the alignment, but I’m not worried at all.
@@BradAngove Brad, it's a beautiful guitar, can't wait to see the paint job.
That neck fitment is beautiful, I look forward to seeing this one come together, especially the paint job!
Haha I should hope so. Get your spray gun ready bud.
That looks like a superb kit!
I love the carved maple cap w/out an over-the-top gaudy veneer.
I hope Dad life is treating you well!
Thanks. Fatherhood has gone well so far in my books.
Can’t wait for next episode. I know it’s going to look killer.
Thanks Kent
Been a while, thanks for the video Brad! looking forward to the series.
Thanks Dan
That looks awesome Mr. Angove. Looking forward to the upcoming videos.
Thanks Pete
In learning about fret leveling. It's best to do under tension.
I’ve looked into that theory. I disagree with it.
@@BradAngove , may I ask why? The idea is to set the guitar up as normal. Then work on each string track individually. This idea is to get the banana right from end to end. I've seen it in action and I like it. The lowest action I've ever seen. Hope to hear back.
I probably should have been more clear; I think that method works just fine. I just don’t find it to be any better than leveling without strings. As long as the fretboard is set up flat when you level, there’s no issue. Then the string tension adds bow and the truss rod removes it. Doing it under tension kind of defeats the purpose of having that adjustability.
As for individual string tracks, I adjust those at the nut and bridge. It takes a lot longer to do under tension and I haven’t seen a benefit.
@@BradAngove , ok , good points. Now I remember the main reason for doing that. Sometimes the neck is a bit different under tension than when adjusted without. Bumps and valleys on older guitar's will show up only under tension and therefore would not be seen otherwise. I guess that's it. I always try to adjust the action but never seem to get it as low as I want even after a level. On a new guitar, this is still a possibility. Thansk for bearing with me Brad. Take care.
@ranman58635 thank you for the information. It’s certainly worth considering the under tension method if you’re having trouble getting your action right the other way.
This thing will be absolutely unreal with what we've decided on, and I think it's really cool that it will be a collaboration with another channel!!! I feel like it's probably the back graphic for him, right?
Wow, I did not realize this was your profile.
His contribution will be spraying the flake. His equipment is better suited to it. I’ll be doing the graphics work.
Going for a gold top?
That neck fitting looks incredible, wow.
Edit
Opaque with graphics, not gold top.
The video looks like it's in interlaced mode.
Apparently I’m having some trouble with my software again. I wish I knew why or how to fix it.
That kit is beautiful. I'm not doubting PGK's products, but are you not concerned with how well the neck joint is going to hold up under string tension? That pocket is milled out pretty thin.
Not concerned at all. There’s plenty of contact area deeper in the pocket. I’ve built one of these already.
Where did you get the straight edge for checking neck?
It’s from skyscraper guitars. They make the best notched straight edges in my opinion.
@@BradAngove Thanks
My guy did you interlace this video for 1080p or did RUclips do it? Its hideous.
I don’t know, I probably messed up the export somehow. I’ve been having trouble with my software.
Whats up with the camera brad? after rewatching your old vids then this this one is blurry? I hope i'm not sounding like an ass, but it's just an observation.
In other news your videos on precision guitars is leading me in a dangerous way and I might spend money... hahaha
I wish I knew man. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again; some software issue at the conversion stage. It didn’t look like that when I edited it.
@@BradAngove What do you edit with?
Premier pro
@@BradAngove maybe it's compressing it during rendering or maybe the internal resolution is off? Im not too versed in premier pro unfortunately but hopefully you figure it out brother
