The day after you posted this, I happened to find it. I have the same actuator that has failed, as well as the louver in the front is broken. I was wondering if all of those actuators were the same! Second question is, can you 'move' the motors to their start position, and what is the 'home' position for those? I can see that situation failing a few different ways.. :)
You mentioned an annual service. What is the annual Tesla Service? (I have 17MS with 129k miles and I’ve never had an annual maintenance with no issues.) I was told shortly after purchasing the MS they removed the annual maintenance services.
Thanks for the video! Could you have just gone through the frunk if you took the lining out? It looks like that might be the easier method but I guess I'll have to give it a try when my actuator arrives. Also, did you have to do any calibrations to make sure the Louvre was working correctly?
No. I now know why it cost $1000 to fix. The plastic piece that this actuator turns broke off. I tried to glue it back, but the glue didn't hold. One needs to replace the whole air box and it's a PITA to get out. Oh, and the car's horn attaches to the air box. Not sure why they can't reuse the horn, but it makes (a little more) sense why they are quoting a new horn as part of the air box replacement
Thanks for the feedback. I can't get better without it. Much better than a thumbs down. Yes, I've got this bad habit of calling parts "this sukka". Please subscribe to keep me in check.
sooo... did that fix the issue? lol
The reason that the louvers need to be closed when not in use is to improve aerodynamics and therefore increase range.
And because winter?
Maybe conserving heat?

Do you know the part number for the actuator? I'm having an issue with my louvers as well.

My rad louvers are also broken. Do you have a part number for the entire box?

Did you try just going through the frunk?

@@AustinEVonlyperhaps plastic glue/welding
@@AustinEVonlywhy not update this video with this commentary at the description of it. It would save everyone a lot of time
the reason is to protect the radiators. stonechipping will cause them to break
Maybe it's just me but I really wish this trend of calling tools and car parts 'this guy' would go away. Appreciate the channel though.

@@AustinEVonly Don't get me started on the newsreporters saying 'right' after every few words! If youtubers pick up on that imma have a stroke. lol
What you were saying instead of louvers?? 🤔😁 I noticed that you was muting that part.
The wrong pronunciation. I'm not french.
Im Australian and know how to pronounce things@@AustinEVonly
