That gym had rock solid membership, crowded with seniors. Those seniors receive a benefit on the Medicare Advantage programs to cover the cost of membership. The gym gets paid mostly thru govt funds. The issue is larger than just that location.

I frequent this gym twice a day and while this may mean nothing to you all it means a lot to those of us who want a safe space to workout and maintain a fit lifestyle!! This gym is not suffering from business in fact we’ve had to get creative to share the space because it’s always busy! I can travel elsewhere but there are seniors who attend simply because of the companionship but I guess no one cares when it doesn’t affect your life 😢

When I lived in Chicago that’s the gym I use to go to that gym. It’s mainly Black senior citizens that attend the gym. I feel sorry for them.

So, because a business is not doing what you want, you publicly shame them? That is to make them stay there? How do they know if the business is succeeding or not?
Rent and utilities are going up everywhere. Would the members all stay if they replied that the only way to stay open is to double the fees? That is what my local gym tried, turned out that less than 10% of the people were willing, so it closed anyway.

Or did you skip that part? You can have a 100% member-filled gym and still not have it succeed due to other factors.

This is where we hold the Chicago Park District accountable for bringing these services to the community. Private businesses have the right to close up shop whenever they please.
Everybody knows what the problem is but they keep blaming everybody else.
