Dude this is exactly what I've been craving and looking for in a game thank you AA for showing me this.
It is so good! The learning curve can be steep but it makes it so much better when you win a game on a hard difficulty.
It’s super satisfied when you feel “I can’t make it, this storm is going to destroy my town” but you did it. You really need to try at least pioneer difficulty.
I have played this game since Potato put out his first video on it. Literally bought the same day, the amount theyve changed and added makes me hopeful for continued addictive gameplay. It is very difficult and so far coming back ive played into prestige 11 and almost maxed my Smoldering City. This game is beautiful in sound, graphics, and just raw gameplay. Buy and play at your own risk. As its updated every 2 weeks most of the time, it changes a lot and the newest race added also added many more gameplay loops and glade events. Such a good game and its still not a full release.. Sorry for the rant.
Edit: Ill also add this is honestly a calm and relaxing watch (shit is honestly stressful at points) compared to the difficulty multipliers that come with each increased level past Veteran (5) which is the 20 prestige levels after that.

I usually get bored of city builders pretty fast. I loved frostpunk and I feel like this game slapped frostpunk and told it to sit down! Lol

I found this only a week or so ago and I'm addicted to it. I didn't find the settler difficulty hard, but it definitely gets a lot harder, very quickly. But it's still immensely fun while being challenging. I haven't experienced this in a long time with a game. Thanks for posting this video though, as I've had a hard time finding interesting gameplay of this game.

I would say you would feel more sense of accomplishment once you get to higher difficulty levels. At prestige 20 game is pretty hard, but also give this satisfying feeling once you figure out a way to succeed in settlemnt.

Just stumbled across this vid. It's great watching newcomers playing Against the Storm, easily one of the best Early Access titles I've played.
Just a little tip in regards to villager housing: great to see you're keeping on top of it, but maybe you were building a few too many houses lol.
Each basic shelter houses 3 villagers, so once you see the housing need icon with a yellow border around it on all 3 species' needs panels, there's no need to build any more.
Great video though, and congrats on your settlements!

What does rogue like/lite mean?
The terms lost meaning, but generally means procedurally generated games with permadeath
Quite literally it means "Like Rogue" which was a text based procedurally generated game. It generally means procedurally generated and that when you die, you start over.

rogue was a game in far history of gaming which included a random generated world with random events and if you die the game is over. with no saves during the run or ironman type saving.
a rogue like is any game that includes those elements, while a rogue lite has a reduced effect of permadeath, mostly in form of meta progression. basically you play it as a rogue like, but when you die you gain some form of progress so your next run will be easier.
rift wizard is an example of a rogue like, this game and for example darkest dungeon, hades, nova drift a different types of rogue lites
Rogue was an amazing precedent and game-changer (game-"establisher"?) for the virtual gaming world. Worth checking a reproduction of it online. And good question, David -- 'Rogue-like / lite' gets tossed around a bunch and many don't know the meaning / origins. Cheers mate.
