- The winner of the $754.6 million Powerball jackpot was revealed by Washington's Lottery on Friday afternoon.
Becky Bell, an Auburn resident who has worked for Boeing for 36 years, claimed the Powerball jackpot on Tuesday, February 28.
Bell said she purchased the winning ticket on Feb. 5 while grocery shopping at a Fred Meyer in Auburn, representing the fifth-largest jackpot in the history of the game.

In this particular case, the lottery commission most likely took a flat 43% ($326 million) of the jackpot, which will be split between state retailers and educational facilities. Federal withholding is 22% ($165 million), and she will likely owe federal taxes next year as well unless she makes charitable contributions or gets a really good financial planner/tax attorney to advise her. This works out to 34% of the advertised amount, which is actually pretty high given that WA does not tax lottery winnings. In most states, you'll walk away with 29% of the jackpot amount.

All you have to say a citizen in western Washington won the lottery from the Fred Meyer at the auburn Washington store that is all you have to say.
