I watch your channel frequently and rarely comment. Wanted to thank you so much for your hard work and always going the extra mile with the flash/no flash photos and extensive comparisons. Plus close-ups of your demos of every product you show. But most of all, your objectivity. So many YTubers fall in love with a luxury brand or specific product, and it's all raves and emotion. You, on the other hand, always separate your enthusiasm for "tha thang" from the practical aspects of actually using it. I did end up picking this one up because the dark olive color against my tones make my eyes pop like no other color does. Went back and forth b/t this and the Smokey Quartz, which you did recommend so all I can say is ~ guess I"ll have to wait til the next sale to get that one! Though my tones are far lighter than yours and I can't use you for color matches, I always come to your channel first when I'm interested in a new product because I know I'll get a far more objective opinion than from others that seem more focused on the sales role. Since I've not yet done, just wanted to pause to thank your for the high value you provide to the community that far exceeds many other channels.

Girl.... I feel like TF is like a boyfriend that is not good for you but you keep going back and then if we tell you to leave him, you get mad at us. Ha! I've given up on TF. It's just too inconsistent especially for that price tag. I'm trying the Guerlain quads and hope they're better!
I’m so glad I watched this. I’ve been having major FOMO on these quads. I definitely don’t need more eyeshadow and the price is ridiculous but I’m just so attracted to them. I almost caved and bought the purple quad but after watching this I now I feel better not getting it. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you for doing the swatch comparisons. It’s just so helpful for me because I have a lot of shadows and when I see the comparisons I know I can get a similar look or not. I’ve been eyeing up the Dior Tutu palette and I’m going to get that over the TF. Thank you Tara!
I bought both of these i had no issue with the violet. The khaki I added palladium from the ND Retro Glam to the lid. I love the transition color in the TF but to create a seamless look was difficult with those dark colors. Isn't funny I wish retro glad had ONE dark shade for depth and I wish this khaki had a middle shade in between those three dark shades! LOL
I'm in total agreement Tara. I was so looking forward to getting the Kaki quad - boy, was I disappointed when I opened it. I couldn't swatch it because any returns in the UK has to be done with an untouched item. That didn't matter tho, just seeing how dark three of the shades were, together with the redundant cream shade, made my decision very easy. I returned it today!! As for the Violet satine, I didn't even bother getting it as I knew I had shade dupes. Thank you for such a thorough, honest and fair review 👏 Love you tons and tons, 💜💙💜💙💜💙💜

Great review! I have both and LOVE the violet one. However, I don’t have Tutu or the Huda beauty pallets. I also struggled with the Khaki one but I noticed as I went through the day I really loved the look. I did find I needed to reapply, which was a pain. All that said though, my partner commented on how great the Khaki one looked, which felt very special.
I've scored a couple of Tom Ford quads at The Cosmetic Company Store for about $22 each. I think that's the only way those will make it into my collection. I did pay full price for Honeymoon years ago; it's nothing to write home about.
First shade on Velour Kaki Palette is eye primer other three are eye shadows and they are dream. I adore that palette. i don’t want popping my eyelids. Color scenario is just gorgeous.

Thank you for your honest review on these palettes. I think they're beautiful but with the new creme formula I almost wish Tom Ford would come out with a number of matte based palettes like Smoky Quartz with more variation in depth and tone. I don't feel the new shimmer formula is worth it, and there are plenty of palettes with just as refined shimmers that I think a more solid matte formula would've been just as compelling.
Your comparisons are always so helpful, and you definitely found some pretty exact dupes, especially for the violet. Even though you had a harder time with the green, both looks turned out stunning. Adding the gold to the green was definitely the way to go.
In Australia, the price for a TF Quad is AU$145.00. A Limited Edition Dior is AU$121.00 (Miss Dior $115.00), Chanel Les Beiges AU$114.00. If I was inclined to, I could purchase one but I refuse to pay this price for four shadows, especially when I keep hearing they are "hit or miss". Thus far, I have never bought a TF Quad. I love the shades in Violet Satiné but I own these shades already, many times. My latest look was from the NARS Stargaze Palette which has a stunning violet, deep purple, a purple shimmer and an icey pink. I created a look last weekend that looked so beautiful from this palette that I kept saying to myself - "who needs TF?" As for the Kaki Quad, I own the ABH Nouveau Palette and Dior's Backstage in Khaki Neutral arrived this week which is full of these shades and double them which I wore 2 days ago. I have Huda's Khaki Haze and other shades like this yet nowhere near the price. My favourite shadows are YSL, Dior, Chanel, Natasha Denona, ABH etc., yet even with shades from lesser brands of an easier price point and my favourite Indie Brand of Lethal Cosmetics, I can't see anything from these TF Quads to justify such a ridiculous price. I'm happy for those who enjoy them, yet I cannot in good faith, in this economy, pay such an amount for what I can create for a tiny percentage of the cost. Just my opinion.🇦🇺💖🕊

Hi! I actually bought both of them, but had to return them. I'd watched Monique from Mo Makeup Mo Beauty and they looked stunning on her. I am about 1 shade darker than she is so I thought they would also look good on me. I was so wrong! The shades just ended up looking lackluster and muddy. I must confess that I'm always underwhelmed by TF quads, but I love cream shadows so I took a chance. I hate to return makeup but I could not keep such expensive quads and not use them. Great video, as usual!
I have both and love both! My favorite thing was they were truly neutral and don’t lean warm, kind of rare for “fall” palettes. I was surprised by your struggle, though I am fair so the lighter shade does show up on me, and I almost always use a companion palette when using a quad, and I know you don’t for review purposes. I’ve used Velours Kaki 6 or 7 times since receiving (it just goes with that fall wardrobe, ya’ll) and it’s been beautiful every time. I have used the gold shade in Chalet Lust once or twice to brighten it up. Maybe because I am fair, I can really tell the difference between those green shades on my skin tone and can build a lot of depth. As Tara said, we all have different preferences (and skin tones), and for me, these are pale girl-approved. These, ND Hy-gen primer, the Gucci blushes and Dior Addict shine in Atelier are my favorites for the year.

I was surprised how similar Dior's Tutu was to Violet Satine, I didn't even realize you were comparing two different palettes when I saw them swatched together initially!

I love you being you, always against the stream whe call it here in The Netherlands (tegen de stroom op), i love that you are so pure always!!!! This quad was only 1 day in my country over a month ago, it swatched so beautiful, but my skintone is much lighter. Than, begin of this month we went to Rome and when we came back we had covid, which is quite a workout with my serious asthma, did not use makeup for weeks. Many people prayed, and i'm mainly thankfull how God pulled me through this! But going to use makeup, next week, again! Going next Monday with hubby a couple of days to our forest area here, and of course, this is also going on my eyes, as my eyes are sort of khaki green, want to try this of course, when going for dinner somewhere there next week. I can let you know if you wish. The other palette, i hoped, hoped and hoped it coming to my country, but when you show me now the Dior Tutu, which i have, and European makeup is by the way many times 25 pct off here at ICI Paris XL, but than i thought, do i need this, for instance for 80 euro's, i can, for instance adopt 2 more baby orphan elephants at Sheldrick Kenya for a year, or doing other more meaningful things with the money. But to add some shimmer on the mobile eyelids i added one of my beloved Chantecaille animals, was the Cheetah this time, could also have been the Lion, also great! 1 extra shimmer is nice, and i did put some extra bronzer in the crease, just a little bit. Im getting the Violet Satine quad. I saw it at the store in it Wows me, of course if you dont have anything similar in your collection ( I dont) The color story is very sophisticated. ❤
I have the TF smokey quartz cream palette that I absolutely love but usually I only use 1 or 2 shades together maybe u can try using 1 of the darker shades & use that pretty bronze shimmer on top & maybe u would like it more? I think both palettes looked beautiful on u!!!
I was super excited about this green palette until I saw the swatches. It’s a pretty murky color story which can be a nice look but not for $90. I’m glad I ordered the violet one cuz it looks gorgeous.

You are the only person who can wear that dark green shadow to look pretty. I have not seen the appeal of it on light colored skin. But good to know it’s even hard to work with, I agree, it lacks dimension, the 3 dark shades are about equally in richness and darkness. Violet satine is much better to work with in that regard.

Hi Tara!! You literally just saved my wallet!! I have the Rose Quartz palette and I've found that olive/green shadows can make me look like I'm sick. I'm fair skinned with a cool olive gray undertone so greens don't always work for me. For example the dark green in the Dior Jungle quint looks blackish gray on my skin. Weird, huh? Anyways, thank you for all of the comparison and deep dive into these quads. 🤩❤
I have seen the khaki palette look great on other videos. I loved your look once you added the gold! It may be that this palette may need another color added, but I love the greens--for which I don't see a good dupe. Before trying the palette, I wish the neutral were more of a highlight.
I got the violet satine yesterday at Nordstrom and I have not played w it yet but I tried it on instore and it looked very pretty. Glad I didn’t get the khaki esp since I have the nars climax from last year

Couldn't wait to try the kaki palette and it was such a disappointment for me. I agree with everything you said. Also, the colors were WAY to dark and did nothing for my fair skin tone (Even though I have brown eyes with green tones). The only shade I liked was the bronze shimmer one. I love smoky quartz as well and I'll stick with that one.

I have the Khaki palette and I do not think it is worth the price tag as well. The light shade works for me as a highlighter but with the other shades, there really wasn't much of a variation. And I agree with you Tara, the palette needs other shades from a different palette. I'm going to try the Violet one, but I feel like the shades remind me of the Elcie minimalist mauve series palette, which I have been enjoying.
So as an update, I didn't like the Violet palette enough to keep since the I enjoy the palette I already mentioned before. It is interesting however that I'm more willing to work with the Khaki one.
To me this video is extremly interesting as I made a fantastic highstreet find (recommended by Caroline Barnes): eyeshadow quads by Max Factor which are cream shadows as well. They seem to work better as the Tom Ford version which is really surprising. They are offered in four colour ways and one is really cool toned - something I missed and still miss within Tom Fords range.

Hey Tara to try TF for the first time I went with the smoky quartz palette! I wanted the violet satrine but followed your advice just to have a TF QUAD 😅in my life … at least one !!!! I do have most ND palettes so the cream to powder isn’t unique but I’m a huge makeup lover so …. The khaki palette might work with the Natasha Denona mini glam palette? I agree it needs a pop and that nude shade is a total waste, bummer! the BEST TF quad tip I've never forgotten is to stick to the quads w/ the "T.F." embossed on the shades !! thanks TL :) {edit: somehow, even when you struggle w/a palette, your eye looks turn out be GORG!!!}
I was wearing the Chanel No 1 revitalizing Foundation 😁 Only struggle with that one is, I have to mix shade BD41 & BD91 to make it work for me🤣 its 2 to 1 ratio (2 - BD40 & 1 - BD90) but, I love it anyway🤣💕
I’m very happy with the Violent Satine quad, beautiful quality. I’ve ordered the Velours Kaki too. I will say both quads looked beautiful on you, v sophisticated and classy. I agree a gold in the later quad would’ve elevated the overall look, still looked lovely though!

I'm so sorry you experienced disappointments with the palettes! They are indeed a splurge. I got them right when they became available and couldn't be happier. I haven't experienced hardpan, and that indicates to me that the formula must be a hit or miss amongst the supply (like Gucci bronzers and blushes, and Charlotte Tilbury face palettes). Maybe for future purchasers, buy the palette where you can return them if you experience hardpan. Kind of explains their delay in release, maybe they didn't completely rectify whatever production issues they experienced.

In the US TF eyeshadow palettes only increased by $2. In Australia they increased by $20! They now cost us $145 AUD! Can you believe that? When you convert the currency it doesn’t come close to making any sense, that’s almost double. I won’t be buying any more Tom Ford.
I actually got the the Khaki and don’t like it- I have green eyes and never wear green eyeshadow .. now I know why.. the formula is great but the color story is not for me.

No way. $90,- for four shadows, and then you have to pray for it to be good, because you never know. Yeah, that's a hard pass. I even have trouble understanding why anyone would spend $180,- on two of these subpar palettes. There are so, so much beautiful things you can buy with that money. Why Tom Ford is so appealing is a mystery to me.
The first time I used Velours Khaki I had to wipe it away😢 I couldn’t give up cos firstly it’s expensive and I love the colour story. So after some experimentation, it’s true what you said, it’s missing the pop and a kinda transition colour to tie the dark shades together. For pop, I reached for Double Indemnity’s mint green. For transition colour to tie dark shades, Wayne Goss Smoky Quartz taupe shade did it! But would I recommend it tho🥹 mmm only to the most ardent TF fans

Rose quartz is half the price of TF, a lot more shades, easy to use and does not hard pan. I'm grateful for Tara's honesty and saving me money!

I think they're beautiful but with the new creme formula I almost wish Tom Ford would come out with a number of matte based palettes like Smoky Quartz with more variation in depth and tone. I don't feel the new shimmer formula is worth it, and there are plenty of palettes with just as refined shimmers that I think a more solid matte formula would've been just as compelling.
Your comparisons are always so helpful, and you definitely found some pretty exact dupes, especially for the violet. Even though you had a harder time with the green, both looks turned out stunning. Adding the gold to the green was definitely the way to go.

In Australia, the price for a TF Quad is AU$145.00. A Limited Edition Dior is AU$121.00 (Miss Dior $115.00), Chanel Les Beiges AU$114.00. If I was inclined to, I could purchase one but I refuse to pay this price for four shadows, especially when I keep hearing they are "hit or miss". Thus far, I have never bought a TF Quad. I love the shades in Violet Satiné but I own these shades already, many times. My latest look was from the NARS Stargaze Palette which has a stunning violet, deep purple, a purple shimmer and an icey pink. I created a look last weekend that looked so beautiful from this palette that I kept saying to myself - "who needs TF?" As for the Kaki Quad, I own the ABH Nouveau Palette and Dior's Backstage in Khaki Neutral arrived this week which is full of these shades and double them which I wore 2 days ago. I have Huda's Khaki Haze and other shades like this yet nowhere near the price. My favourite shadows are YSL, Dior, Chanel, Natasha Denona, ABH etc., yet even with shades from lesser brands of an easier price point and my favourite Indie Brand of Lethal Cosmetics, I can't see anything from these TF Quads to justify such a ridiculous price. I'm happy for those who enjoy them, yet I cannot in good faith, in this economy, pay such an amount for what I can create for a tiny percentage of the cost. Just my opinion.🇦🇺💖🕊

Hi! I actually bought both of them, but had to return them. I'd watched Monique from Mo Makeup Mo Beauty and they looked stunning on her. I am about 1 shade darker than she is so I thought they would also look good on me. I was so wrong! The shades just ended up looking lackluster and muddy. I must confess that I'm always underwhelmed by TF quads, but I love cream shadows so I took a chance. I hate to return makeup but I could not keep such expensive quads and not use them. Great video, as usual!
I have both and love both! My favorite thing was they were truly neutral and don’t lean warm, kind of rare for “fall” palettes. I was surprised by your struggle, though I am fair so the lighter shade does show up on me, and I almost always use a companion palette when using a quad, and I know you don’t for review purposes. I’ve used Velours Kaki 6 or 7 times since receiving (it just goes with that fall wardrobe, ya’ll) and it’s been beautiful every time. I have used the gold shade in Chalet Lust once or twice to brighten it up. Maybe because I am fair, I can really tell the difference between those green shades on my skin tone and can build a lot of depth. As Tara said, we all have different preferences (and skin tones), and for me, these are pale girl-approved. These, ND Hy-gen primer, the Gucci blushes and Dior Addict shine in Atelier are my favorites for the year.

I love you being you, always against the stream whe call it here in The Netherlands (tegen de stroom op), i love that you are so pure always!!!! This quad was only 1 day in my country over a month ago, it swatched so beautiful, but my skintone is much lighter. Than, begin of this month we went to Rome and when we came back we had covid, which is quite a workout with my serious asthma, did not use makeup for weeks. Many people prayed, and i'm mainly thankfull how God pulled me through this! But going to use makeup, next week, again! Going next Monday with hubby a couple of days to our forest area here, and of course, this is also going on my eyes, as my eyes are sort of khaki green, want to try this of course, when going for dinner somewhere there next week. I can let you know if you wish. The other palette, i hoped, hoped and hoped it coming to my country, but when you show me now the Dior Tutu, which i have, and European makeup is by the way many times 25 pct off here at ICI Paris XL, but than i thought, do i need this, for instance for 80 euro's, i can, for instance adopt 2 more baby orphan elephants at Sheldrick Kenya for a year, or doing other more meaningful things with the money. But to add some shimmer on the mobile eyelids i added one of my beloved Chantecaille animals, was the Cheetah this time, could also have been the Lion, also great! 1 extra shimmer is nice, and i did put some extra bronzer in the crease, just a little bit. I have the TF smokey quartz cream palette that I absolutely love but usually I only use 1 or 2 shades together maybe u can try using 1 of the darker shades & use that pretty bronze shimmer on top & maybe u would like it more? I think both palettes looked beautiful on u!!!
I was super excited about this green palette until I saw the swatches. It’s a pretty murky color story which can be a nice look but not for $90. I’m glad I ordered the violet one cuz it looks gorgeous.

You are the only person who can wear that dark green shadow to look pretty. I have not seen the appeal of it on light colored skin. But good to know it’s even hard to work with, I agree, it lacks dimension, the 3 dark shades are about equally in richness and darkness. Violet satine is much better to work with in that regard.

Hi Tara!! You literally just saved my wallet!! I have the Rose Quartz palette and I've found that olive/green shadows can make me look like I'm sick. I'm fair skinned with a cool olive gray undertone so greens don't always work for me. For example the dark green in the Dior Jungle quint looks blackish gray on my skin. Weird, huh? Anyways, thank you for all of the comparison and deep dive into these quads. 🤩❤

I have seen the khaki palette look great on other videos. I loved your look once you added the gold! It may be that this palette may need another color added, but I love the greens--for which I don't see a good dupe.
Before trying the palette, I wish the neutral were more of a highlight.

I got the violet satine yesterday at Nordstrom and I have not played w it yet but I tried it on instore and it looked very pretty. Glad I didn’t get the khaki esp since I have the nars climax from last year

Couldn't wait to try the kaki palette and it was such a disappointment for me. I agree with everything you said. Also, the colors were WAY to dark and did nothing for my fair skin tone (Even though I have brown eyes with green tones). The only shade I liked was the bronze shimmer one. I love smoky quartz as well and I'll stick with that one.
This was so helpful Tara. I had both quads in my basket along with Chalet Lust but now I don’t think I’ll get any. Thank you for comparisons - so helpful. Chalet Lust looks too light for me (and I’m fair complexion) although it is pretty. By the way, what lippie do you have on - it’s beautiful! X
I have the Khaki palette and I do not think it is worth the price tag as well. The light shade works for me as a highlighter but with the other shades, there really wasn't much of a variation. And I agree with you Tara, the palette needs other shades from a different palette. I'm going to try the Violet one, but I feel like the shades remind me of the Elcie minimalist mauve series palette, which I have been enjoying.
So as an update, I didn't like the Violet palette enough to keep since the I enjoy the palette I already mentioned before. It is interesting however that I'm more willing to work with the Khaki one.
To me this video is extremly interesting as I made a fantastic highstreet find (recommended by Caroline Barnes): eyeshadow quads by Max Factor which are cream shadows as well. They seem to work better as the Tom Ford version which is really surprising. They are offered in four colour ways and one is really cool toned - something I missed and still miss within Tom Fords range.

Hey Tara to try TF for the first time I went with the smoky quartz palette! I wanted the violet satrine but followed your advice just to have a TF QUAD 😅in my life … at least one !!!! I do have most ND palettes so the cream to powder isn’t unique but I’m a huge makeup lover so …. The khaki palette might work with the Natasha Denona mini glam palette? I agree it needs a pop and that nude shade is a total waste, bummer! I’m very happy with the Violent Satine quad, beautiful quality. I’ve ordered the Velours Kaki too. I will say both quads looked beautiful on you, v sophisticated and classy. I agree a gold in the later quad would’ve elevated the overall look, still looked lovely though!

I'm so sorry you experienced disappointments with the palettes! They are indeed a splurge. I got them right when they became available and couldn't be happier. I haven't experienced hardpan, and that indicates to me that the formula must be a hit or miss amongst the supply (like Gucci bronzers and blushes, and Charlotte Tilbury face palettes). Maybe for future purchasers, buy the palette where you can return them if you experience hardpan. Kind of explains their delay in release, maybe they didn't completely rectify whatever production issues they experienced.

In the US TF eyeshadow palettes only increased by $2. In Australia they increased by $20! They now cost us $145 AUD! Can you believe that? When you convert the currency it doesn’t come close to making any sense, that’s almost double. I won’t be buying any more Tom Ford.
Yes the conversion rate is not good at the moment buying anything from the states. Not worth that money.
I actually got the the Khaki and don’t like it- I have green eyes and never wear green eyeshadow .. now I know why.. the formula is great but the color story is not for me.

Another big disappointment from Tom Ford I am so not happy with this brand everything is a hit or miss with them but when it is good is great so thank you for your video because you just saved me a lot of money
No way. $90,- for four shadows, and then you have to pray for it to be good, because you never know. Yeah, that's a hard pass.
I even have trouble understanding why anyone would spend $180,- on two of these subpar palettes. There are so, so much beautiful things you can buy with that money. Why Tom Ford is so appealing is a mystery to me.
Just not gonna waste my $$ on TF. His perfume, I love, but not his makeup. ❤
The first time I used Velours Khaki I had to wipe it away😢 I couldn’t give up cos firstly it’s expensive and I love the colour story. So after some experimentation, it’s true what you said, it’s missing the pop and a kinda transition colour to tie the dark shades together.
For pop, I reached for Double Indemnity’s mint green.
For transition colour to tie dark shades, Wayne Goss Smoky Quartz taupe shade did it!
But would I recommend it tho🥹 mmm only to the most ardent TF fans
