They’re not dealing with violent crime. That’s why it’s increasing.
We've also seen an influx of outsiders from places that have no law and order to speak of, some are just straight-up villains, too.

I just got off the Metro Bus in LA. The line 720 to Westwood. There was a crazy homeless man talking aggressively to himself and while most of the passengers just ignored him. I was less than 2 feet away. He then proceeded to take out a foil, torch lighter and a tube and smoked what looks like fentanyl or meth. And yes there were children sitting near by and no one did anything. I was worried about my safety too. I just got off the bus and decided to walk the rest of the way. This is not the first time I’ve seen this on the bus. And reporting it to the driver does nothing. The best they can do is stop the bus and call the cops and the response time takes too long. It’s not just safely it’s the lack of enforcement. The smell, the unsanitary conditions, the overcrowding and I see that most people don’t pay the fares. They just go to the back and wait for the doors to open and they sneak on. The bus driver can’t do anything. Public transportation is so different in Korea or Japan. The main reason is because they don’t allow the homeless on the bus and they enforce fares.
And how do you November?
Korea nor Japan have the same level of rights as us. You can't be an American patriot who values absolute freedom and want authoritarianism at the same time.
@duckmercy11 Rights don't mean anything if you're living in fear trying to live a normal life. What's the point to "ftredom" if you can't move about freely in your own city without worrying about your safety on public transportation or just being in public in general. Looks at the recent attacks in LA on the metro buses. America's cure for these issues is pathetic at best. Total shithole that even 3rd world countries are laughing at.

A certain Hungarian billionaire is determined to turn every poor and working-class American community into a lawless hellscape.
The biggest problem, at least here in New York, is that we have too many repeat offenders being released back onto the streets. The amount of times that I've heard on the news of a person with 13 prior arrests who violently assaulted an innocent person being released without bail is more than I can count. The State's bail laws have exacerbated the issue, but the city's DAs are also not blameless.

Defund the police!
Defund the police!
Do you really feel safer with the police defunded?
What large city with significant public transit infrastructure defunded police?
@@BlownMacTruck Los Angeles. For one
@@daryoushsameyah8329 Incorrect. LA decreased the police budget by 7% because of attrition. In other words, the entire budget for the decrease came from matching how much the police department lost in personnel. That 7% was then allocated to police-adjacent services, such as gang violence reduction efforts and mental health outreach around criminal behavior (all of which ultimately helps the police). It was *spun* as straight defunding by certain media. This is why the proposal for this year reverses that almost entirely, as it accounts for a hiring increase / recruiting effort.
@@BlownMacTruck You're wrong! Totally! Absolutely! 10,000% wrong!
First off, the LAPD has lost $150 million dollars a year from their annual budget for the last 6 years. The funds were allocated to fund more local community social workers offices! You know, ransom money lest that certain kind does not riot, loot, and burn the city down. AGAIN!
Furthermore, abd as part of the agreement, and on top the financial cuts, the LAPD lost 1,000 police officer positions. The strength of the LAPD went down from 10,000 to 9,000! Currently, the strength of the LAPD is at about 8,500 sworn police officers!
So yet again I ask, "And how's all that defunding the police thing working out for you NOW?"

I dunno about other cities but NYC has 462 stations with multiple trains, and each train has up to 10 cars that easily get crowded. You'd need a very expensive army to patrol all trains at all times.

When I lived in New York before moving out in 1988. I use to take the trains and busses all over. I would read my book with no problems. It boggles my mind that in this video with all the violence going on people are reading and using their phones. We all need to practice situational awareness these days even while walking in the streets. 🤦🏽♀️
Yeah so? Not a police matter
Sounds like the early 80s are back...
NYC has more than enough police officers to have one officer in every subway car on every train 24/7.
Not if you want them doing much of anything else. The system has something like 6,500 cars and 470 stations. To keep all that staffed 24/7 you'd need to dedicate probably half or more of the NYPD to that duty.
In that case, you would see crime on the subways decline, but the criminals would then have free reign in every other part of the city. Even if the cops on subways tried to respond to calls above ground, they'd be screwed. They'd have no vehicles available to get there.
@@kenofken9458 ok, then one per train, not car that roams that train all day.
