I have wondered about Dr. Brown’s position on this for years, but never saw a direct answer to it before this video. Glad to hear this explanation.

    It's not too complicated.
Salvation is through Grace by Faith (in the Gospel).
    Blessings come through obedience.
Given a choice to obey God's Instructions (proper translation of 'Torah') or not, why choose to disobey?
It's in the question: Not "must" but "should...."
    Blessings

When Paul said "to the Jew I became a Jew..." is it possible he meant from a philosophical stance? Or Hebrew vs. Greek mindset? Is it possible he wasn't saying that it is okay to be one way with one kind of people and a different way with others (hypocritical), rather he meant the manner of argument. Here are a couple of reasons and examples. As Dr. Brown said we have no examples of Paul disobeying Torah. Paul's testimony is that he did not disobey 3 times in Acts to 3 courts. We can also see where Paul quoted from Greek thought "All things are lawful but not beneficial" in order to teach Greeks. He also taught the Greeks about the unknown God.
Is it possible that we have misused Paul's words because we have misunderstood them as Peter said?

Messianic Rabbi Mottel Baleston says that the word 'Jew' in that text actually meant Judean. Which would make sense because Paul was a Jew from Tarsus. Each of those regions had their own customs and dress codes.
Paul dressed up and performed Judean customs so that he can form a brotherhood with the Judeans in hopes of giving them the Gospel.

Excellent teaching sir! Well-balanced? Well perhaps, more based on revelation knowledge from the Holy Spirit.

I'm Torah observant and keep my faith in Jesus. I do it not for salvation, but rather to be a man after Father Yahweh's own heart. To each his own, but I take every opportunity I can to obey and sacrifice for Father Yahweh, to humble myself before Him. Being Torah observant is one way I do this.

Father Yahweh sounds so strange to Jewish ears. It makes it sound like two separate Gods - the One True God and his son

@@stephenfisher3721 In fact, they are one in the same. Yeshua is the figurative hand of God.

The way I read the Bible, if you're a Jew, then you have to follow the Torah, but if you're not a Jew, you should only follow the parts of the Torah that apply to Gentiles. (I reference the Acts 15 council, for example.) Paul circumcised Timothy, who had a Jewish mother, but he refused to subject Titus to the same, and he specified that Titus was Greek. This is because Gentiles were not called for this as a group (although I'm sure we can find some good exceptions). Paul is often addressing why Torah observance isn't the be-all-end-all observance for all. This is often confused as a rejection of Torah, which is unfortunate. Paul was advised by James and the elders at Jerusalem to demonstrate his Torah observance in a public fashion to put these misconceptions to rest, and he agreed to do so. I don't see how anyone can say that the Torah has been abrogated when Jesus said he didn't come to destroy the Torah but to fulfill it. If we use the word "fulfill" to mean "destroy," we're simply rewriting his words to mean the opposite of what he said. With all of this said, I am troubled by stories of people who believe that conversion to Jewish-level Torah observance is required for Gentiles. This has already been dealt with by the apostles at the Acts 15 council.

Lately, YHWH has been impressing upon me that He does not wish to spend Eternity with any person who disregards Him and His Son. It is Their Kingdom; Their 7 eyes of fire, of jealousy, and we are called and chosen to be a part by Yahshua's Blood: forgiveness of disobedience (by removing our eyes of adultery and replacing them with His pure eyes that can not look upon evil, lies). May we be found faithful when He returns in the clouds of Kabod on His white horse to gather His Elect from the 4 corners of the earth. Every eye will see Him.

How about asking should Catholic believers obey the pope or should they obey God? It’s a pointless question, because believers are not given a choice of whom they obey. The New Testament is replete with instructions for Gentile believers to keep God’s moadim.
If not being a Jew means that there are two ways to please God, then dual covenant theology is alive and well, courtesy Dr. Brown. I’m not saved by keeping the Law - but then again, no one ever was. Romans says that’s not an excuse for tossing the Law. As a warning, toss the Law at your own peril. Eat pig, suffer the penalty for disobedience. Bow down to idols and icons, suffer the penalty.
Be nice and waffle on God’s requirement of Holiness for Jews or Gentiles, and lead many to Hell.
