Great song, love to know when Ted's started to embrace the rockabilly flag or vice versa. Love the energy and the beat. Great vocals, fab band.

I was a real Teddy Boy in the 50s and by the 70s they had morphed into a cartoon variety with exaggerated clothing. This film mixes original 50s images with later Showaddywaddy versions.....not us. The flag is the Confederate flag not a Rockabilly flag. Showaddywaddy Teddy Boys started using it after the Rockabilly craze in the late 70s.

@@cooldaddy2877 the flag was used to make the statement rocknroll and rockabilly come from the south. There was a lot of rockabilly records from the 50s with the confederate flag on them. You came and went. I had two original teddy boy suites and I had original shoes. Because I had a clue. My dad told me and I was lucky to find original clothes in junk shops. My mother had 11 brothers my uncles and they where in a gang called the jackobites. Original teddy boys from lieth in Edinburgh used to come to our dances we properly jived and the older Ted's loved being with us and even put teddy boy gear on. They where called the valder gang. And some original Ted's from Granton called the jubilee gang hung around us as well. And rocknroll revival and rockabilly being different from rocknroll the old Ted's said they wished they had heard of it in the 50s but didn't. Although in the states it was rockabilly. Shame you haven't got a clue Frank sinatra. The 50s music scene lasted longer with us than it did with you. So find your slippers and pipe and remember to put your wooly jumper on its cold outside pops.

@@cooldaddy2877 you never had the rocknroll and rockabilly records we had in the 70s.half of them in the 70s had no dress sense but the music was better as there was 50s records you never heard. From the 50s and still happening today they are finding another rocknroll song under the dust in the archives so the real 50s started in the 70s.

    • @cooldaddy2877

Probably one of the most stupid comments I have ever heard...."so the real 50s started in the 70s". Ok, so let me educate you. Firstly, I was a dj in the 50s and still in the 70s. In the 50s we had first generation records....in the 70s you had bad quality repros. Yes, the 70s saw many records released that were not released in the fifties but the sound quality, in general was so so bad. Also, to rebalance that, there were tons and tons of records from the 50s that you could not get in the 70s...unless you had a wad full of cash to get an original copy. Apart from a small number of new found stuff in the 70s, most of it was third rate dire stuff that wasnt released first time around because it was so bad.....or was not hit for the same reason There are plenty of examples of dire Rockabilly on you tube, that, even if released in the 50s...no one would have listened to. You really havnt got a clue. The actual 50s was much better than the 70s musically. @@michaelpearson1272

The punks where not really enemies there where Ted's and punks that faught each other. It only took one to start the fight. It happened from both sides. Look there's punks hoy we hate punks then a fight broke out. Look there's Ted's we hate Ted's. Then a fight broke out. Anybody started it.

@@cooldaddy2877we where friends with rockers what you talking about. So you where there in the 50s.you didn't last long. Your more square than your dad. The 1950s faded and you got married settled down had kids and grand kids. When we where Ted's in the 70s revival it was much bigger than you would remember we had real 1950s rocknroll and music from the 50s you never had. Seen rocknroll and rockabilly singers from the 50s you never heard of. Listened to real 50s music you never heard. Don't tell us your real and we are not you have no clue. We have the cars. The chicks. The music. The style. And we seen real rocknroll compared to you. Ted heath band. Pat croon. Frank sinatra to name a few you where rockin to. Teddy boys from the 50s hung around with us real Ted's real rockers. You where there but you wouldn't win a quiz on rocknroll because we know more about the 50s than you do. You drifted away the 1950s started in the 1970s.

So did the English Ted's. Old original teddy boys are talking about the 70s teddy boy style pink drapes and yellow velvet or dressed to look like showaddywaddy wich in my opinion was true. I had two original teddy boy suits both black. I had greasy hair and original brogues with a thin crep sole. The originals where called monks. My dad hated teddy boys that's why I loved being one. But I didn't like the modern style teddy boy in the 70s. I was original and the teddy boys are now going back to the authentic look. There where a lot of Ted's from the 50s that come back and enjoyed it. I wore harmony hair spray. 😂😂

@@cooldaddy2877that's right mate. I will admit so did I. It's no big deal and you could have a huge elephant trunk mammoth sized. 😂 But I used Brill cream as well and wore the original style as well. Not showaddywaddy I had munk shoes. Brogues. Derry boots. Cambridge shoes. I hated nose picker shoes. And my crep soles from the 50s had very thin soles. Nothing like the 70s re make.

It was uk wide in fact world wide. I seen Bill haley in Glasgow in 1979 when I was 19.and loads of British and American rocknroll singer who thought they had went through a time warp. The cars. The girls. The style. The music. We had our 1950s in the 70s. And jasper carrot said on TV he couldn't believe all the teddy boys he seen and said there is more now than there was in the 50s.

Never mind they do their thing I do mine. I like real rocknroll and rockabilly. Blues doowop and everything connected to my music. I don't wair showaddy waddy style. I'm into the proper 50s look. My mother had 11 brothers and they where in a gang called the jacobites.from niddrie and I lived in Granton. That's where the jubilee gang come from. And in leith Edinburgh the gang where called the valder gang. They had a bad name in the 50s.having a king known as boco king of the Ted's. My dad had a beef with him. But got a shock when I become a Ted from age 12. Now 63.year old fart. We lasted longer than most of the 1950s Ted's and had better music than they did back then as a lot of rocknroll and rockabilly along with other styles of rocknroll come out in the 1970s. Thanks to the huge revival we had. Although I did not follow the 1970s style. I was more 1950s look. I had monk shoes. I had brogues. I had Oxford. Would not wair winkle pickers. Hush puppies. Chelsea boots. Creepers with a thin crepe sole. Not the 70s creepers. I had originals from 1950s. I was lucky to find. I had other 1950s suits not just the drape and people recognised I was a Teddy boy.
