Goats, regardless of size, are extremely efficient at clearing all kinds of challenging terrain. They eat many different kinds of vegetation, undergrowth, and scrub stuff, including things with aggressive briars! Yours are doing a great job as well! ❤️🐐👍

Hi, can I ask if they just clear the above ground growth (in other words it will grow back) or do they attack the roots and kill the brush off? Also, are they any good at getting rid of thistle and iris. Thanks
Goats do not pull the plant up and eat the roots like cows. they must be good with thistle because the only place i see it growing is outside the pastures.
@@pygmyharborfarm Thank you for the reply.
I have 50 acres similar to yours. White oak, red oak ,white pine, and hickory trees cover the forest floor with leaves and needles. Can i put goats on it and let them eat the leaf litter? If so can i go behind and seed different grasses to creat a silvo pasture? Im new to this so any info would be greatly appreciated!
Absolutely that’s my exact plan for this pasture actually. The Pygmy goats have completely cleared out all the low brush and most non indigenous trees. I am constantly picking up sticks and cutting down smaller trees as the goats eat the leaf litter hoping to get enough light in to plant orchard or Rye. The ground is hard clay here so I just keep at it. Each year it gets a bit better. Although they love the forge and brush.
@@pygmyharborfarm so they'll actually clear the dead leaves laying on the forest floor?. That would be great!
