The UNIX/ORACLE system was more commonly used by the commercial banks in those past years, simply because those banks' computer system network could never have been down at any time for any excuse in any way, for very obvious safety reasons. “yeah I KNOW the world disappeared in a nuclear holocaust, but think about how often we DID NOT press that big red button!”
Dude PEOPLE have died due to this.
@@Bonesph Agree; also lot of people (UK as example) had to go hungry / not able to pay their bills / Credit Cards, Direct Debts to energy firms) as lot of Shops Payment machines were not working, Banks online systems were offline, some Companies couldn't perform usual BACS transfer of wages into their employees bank accounts due to this outage. Lot of disruption, lot of unanswered Questions for Crowdstrike and if at fault / can be proven going to be very costing to Crowdstrike; lawsuits and litigation in $billions (potentially) and loss of confidence in their product/s; some of their customers could move away from them.
Is Europe still not recovering yet?
its like a pandemic for all windows computers
Bad practices by all affected companies not just Cloudstrike are to blame along with Microsoft which by default automatically applies the updates like this everywhere at the same time, the companies affected don’t test or delay updates themselves unforgivable. Cloudstrike is not only to blame, nothing can be tested 100%. This shows poor IT practices by many major companies and institutions.
Your absolutely right. In my country plenty of organisations use Windows and only a few had problems. Unfortunately some were part of critical critical infrastructure, such as the Schiphol airport. Acceptance testing of updates should be a mandatory step when mission critical systems use that software..I've not yet heard any of the affected companies issue apologies for their lack of testing and allowing untested updates to be rolled out automatically.
This had nothing to do with MS updates. Companies that were on n-2 were affected. Do at least 2m research first eh
@@MaxintRD it was a virus definition file not a software update. & It had nothing to do with MS.
This software bypasses the Microsoft update scheme.
@@mycosysyou will find updates to MS system and their recommendations contributed to this, poor practices at best
Many years ago, it'd already been said by some computer experts that the window OS system at that time hadn't been stable enough, especially when it was compared with other then similar competing OS system like say UNIX/ORACLE.
The UNIX/ORACLE system was more commonly used by the commercial banks in those past years, simply because those banks' computer system network could never have been down at any time for any excuse in any way, for very obvious safety reasons.
Given this global IT outage, maybe the above view still holds today.
(I think Apple's OS computer system has had UNIX as one of its basic inner core.)
this outage mapped out systems using windows. macos is unix based. android is linux based owned by google which is like unix. reason why google, iphones, androids and many others didnt go down. if not mistaken, this is not the first windows 'global' outage due to 3rd party 'security' application related patching
@@patrickgz Note that China's nationwide computer network remains unscathed this time around, showing that the country's past intentional development of her own national computer OS network has paid off handsomely today.
My linux systems are working fine :)
You obviously aren’t running CloudStrike…
@@allangibson8494 according to cloudstrike linux and mac os running cloudstrike weren't affected. Had everyone used Linux, there wouldn't be any news.

😆 🤣 😂 😹
Interesting, supermarket footage is showing Woolworths.
From ABC Australia…
Lol could it be Crowd striken 88 BTF update with the Micron soft Deloren travelling back to 1985 bringing back old companies back from the future; UK Woolworths, Fan Fare, Mothercare USA: Toy's R'Us, Pan Am, Blockbusters, etc
THE WORLD SHOULD NOT DEPENDS ON ONE SYSTEM ONLY!
The usual suspect is deeply sorry. 😆
Lies! This happened because they trusted windows and it's very easily avoidable..
BTW: Those who are still using old Win 7 were not affected.😂
Everybody who does not use CrowdStrike was unaffected.
Could it be that an outsource IT guy in India messed up the update? 🤣
Yeah abdul, for person with your education level, thats truth..

Surely, it would be wise to 'proof' test any new software, offline first, for errors, etc.
Or... is it a cover story for a state sponsored hack?
⬇️
Moreover, there needs to be a system where key nodes or infrastructure are compartmentalised, yet can can operate worldwide... 🌐
Its windows that’s the problem….its only suited for the gaming community at this point lol…so so easy to hack
It wasnt new software, it was a virus definition file, they get updated for the latest threats several times a day, they need to to be effective.
Why do all these computers update directly from Microsoft? The organization that operate them don't have their own update server with vetted updates?
Nothing to do with MS. Was a virus definition update from CS, not even a software update.
@@mycosyssame question then, for Crowd Strike. Why no organizational vetting of updates?
@@jptrainor they clearly fed up. Seemingly it was tested and then corrupted in the deployment/encryption stage. I would guess many places will be updating their testing.
A lot of companies do this and were unaffected. This should be standard practice for any companies that have more than a few hundred computers and should be a common feature of their IT dept. Even if it does nothing more than delay updates by a day so other companies catch it.
@@PeterSedesse a LOT of these companies WERE on n-1 and n-2 updates for the software.
This wasnt a software update it was a malware definition file. While it makes sense these need to go out right away - you cant have half your customers unprotected for a new exploit and stay afloat as a security company - a LOT of sysadmins are REALLY p*ssed it didnt respect their update policies.
The company can no longer be trusted because they can’t roll out a routine update following common sense tested procedure. With the lawsuits they will face, I just sold off all the CS stock that I held.
microsoft as well as the other company involved should pay up the damage that this update failure has done. This is literally costing millions of dollars and even putting lives in danger!!!
In reals of $billions
what I do not understand is that how such a critical updated was not tested properly before it was rolled out on the internet and update global systems. It has fingerprints of a planned attack. Updates are always tried and tested before rolling out
how about Linux ?
CrowdStrike’s Linux app didn’t get a bad update - only windows got an empty file.
De polarised monopoly of technology control by just a handful organisations.
gotta love Azure
WooHoo! My criminal records and debt were expunged❤Microsoft, CrowdStrike, and AI.
OK, I am going to say the silent part out loud and ask, If this is German why isn't the guy speaking well, German?

Linux 😉😉
Look on the bright side, it will boost spending, unlike any holiday or days. The market will sky rocket because now there will be alot of investing in new systems. Microsoft just took the lead ahead of nvidea now!
Are Apple systems affected?
Does it has mircosoft?
why can't we think that this was done in porpoise 😊
Our overlords, the penguins of the Antarctic ice wall, told me that it wasn't.
It wasn't tested first! Don't use Micro$oft!
Not Microsoft software. Third party vendors software.
@@allangibson8494 I didn't say it was. But it's Micro$oft stuff that is so vulnerable.
Should have used the vastly superior OS: Linux.
It being free and open source makes it easier to test with and predict the behaviour off - hence there CloudStrike didn't affect it like it Windows.
Tech outage? Common windows update problem.
India 🇮🇳
just don't use cloud, that's how
