What is an NAD program? I've been on benzo's since 1994. For the 1st 5 or 6 years, Klonipin, then to 6mg's of Xanax and Ambien 10 mgs. I've been forced off of them and it was the most terrifying thing I've ever experienced. I've had much trauma in my life, and am diagnosed with GAD, PTSD and panic attacks. I also have Emphasima and asthma. Last February, my 02 levels went to 62 and I was hospitalized with Covid. I was in there for 10 days and they were not giving me any of my meds. Not even my 02, which they have records of all of my meds. By the 3rd day I was having hallucinations, both audio and visual, paranoia, uncontrollable twitching and jerking and I couldn't eat for 6 days. They gave me some kinda antibiotic and that's when thing's got really bad. The nurses had to wear Covid gear, masks, plastic shields and I was so confused, I thought the doctor was going to put me to sleep like a dog. They had a Psychiatrist come down to see me and he didn't recognize that I was in horrible benzo withdrawal. He actually ordered a brainscan. I was so completely out of it, that I didn't know how to operate a phone, the bright lights were left on for 4 days, so I couldn't sleep and being that confused, I didn't realize that I had a control for the lights or TV. I live alone and I don't have any support. I go through interdose withdrawal every day. The whole thing was horrifying. After 30 years of continuous use and taken as prescribed, I know I have severe nerve damage but I don't think it's possible for someone like me. These medications are horrible and if someone would have told me how these ruin your life, I would have never went on them in the first place. God bless all of you, who have been through or are going through withdrawal. The comeback is always greater than the setback. 💜

@@thetruthsetsyoufree1492 Personally I don't think they are helping me at all And Even if there are a little it is out weighed by the feeling of being numb But my body now needs the chemicals who have set up home in my body Sure the mirtazapine puts me to sleep but I wake up groggy and still feeling tired So my advice is don't start taking them unless you really need to And only take for a few weeks or month at the most As the human body and mind is here on earth to feel joy and pain and we should be able to cope Unless it's something really bad So for me I'm am starting to detox and it's hard And will take more than likely over a year or more to get off them all But it's got to be done in my eyes,But we are all a little different So I am not a doctor But I am someone who has been on these pills for the best part of 30 years So that's my take on it and hopefully you have a good doctor and mental health services to help you if you decide to slowly come off them or not, When's the last time you saw a tree with pills growing on it Take care and all the very best and GODBLESS 🍀💯❤️🙏🏻☘️🌴💦

@@michaelmoran2691 Sorry I missed your message for over two months, but I don’t know if I got a notification from RUclips or not. I am sorry to hear what you have been going through. Life can sometimes be tough to manage. I don’t know what your Diazepam dose is. I am taking Diazepam 1mg twice or once every day, but I am trying to come off it for a long time but it is not easy to stop. Recently, psychiatrist prescribed me Pregabalin to wean off Diazepam, but I don’t know I will be able to get used to the Pregabalin effects. All psychiatric drugs are toxic to the brain, unfortunately. However, I know I cannot manage my severe anxiety without them. Also, I am on Sodium Valproate to stabilise the mood. My previous antidepressant Escitalopram gave me crazy jaw clenching and sleeping issues a long time ago. I can see that my mood is getting much better than the past, except for my anxiety management. Yes, all psychiatric drugs make us being numbed in many ways. Breathing and exercise can be helpful if we do it every day. Sending you every blessing.

I am tapering off lorazepam by using a graduated cylinder. It holds 50ml. I dissolve the pill shake it up really well. With a syringe I can measure how much to take out. I am down to 45ml. 5ml less every week I should be finished in 17 weeks. This micro tapering is very safe. Slow and steady wins the race.

I'll tell you how to do it. I have done it. 14 years of Klonopin addiction. 14 years of 4 milligrams-a-day. Until I had enough. When I decided to clean up, this was my method. It helps greatly to have Cannabis available but, can be done without. I started with 1/2 a milligram a week. Slowly but, surely I would taper off. When I got to 1/2 a milligram a day, I would skip a day. For a week or two. Then I would skip 2 days. Until, finally I was CLEAN of that horrible drug! I have almost 8 years now- totally off of Benzos and love it. It can be done!

@TheGlaive354I started by 1/2 a milligram a week- CUT DOWN by half a milligram. Let's say I was taking 4 mgs. a day. Well, I would take 3 and a half milligrams a day for a week. If all was well? Then another half a milligram then next week. Now, I'm taking 3 milligrams a day. For a week. If all was well, then another half until finally I was to half a milligram a day. Then I would skip a day. For about a month or two. Then I would skip 2 days. Until finally it was done.

My psychiatrist put me on 150mg of lithium (lowest dose available) due to it's gaba cell growth ability and mood stabilizing effects, and 150mg of Mag Taurate daily as soon as I started my taper 8 months ago. I'm down from 2mg of Klonopin daily to 0.125 daily. I was recently told I could stop the lithium since I'm not bipolar and have found the mag taurine is great for sleep and anxiety. Almost off the Klonopin and starting to lose the fear of relapse as I feel my brain and body coming back to life.

You’re having Benzo withdrawal, not bipolar mania. Amazing the crap these “doctors” pull. This “off label” treatment needs to stop.

1-28-2024. I was prescribed 8mg. per day of klonopin for the last 13 years. On Dec. 3rd. I started my taper and today I’m down to 1.5mg. daily. I plan to taper the rest of the way using valium. I am following the Ashton manual method. There are times after a reduction when I can’t understand why it takes so long to level out but it happens and then when I do, I make another reduction and wait patiently. It absolutely can be done.

@@annie711000 2-10-2024. Hi Annie! I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with your taper. I highly recommend that you google: “the Ashton manual pdf” and read it well, reference it often, and above all else, follow it. Every human being is an individual and will respond differently to the tapering process. I don’t know all the reasons why my taper has been so successful but I wanted to share it with others so that they might be encouraged. I’ve read too many experiences that were less than comforting. For some reason, 1.5mg was one of the hardest steps to navigate. Today I’m down to 15 mg. Valium daily. The Ashton manual will explain. I don’t want anyone to think that there is a hack to rely upon, however, if used very sparingly, .5mg of melatonin can help with sleep without causing dependency. The worst symptoms for me has been acute tennitus. Also, on occasion, I’ll wake up in the night with fears of death. That’s when I have to instantly get ahold of myself and realize that it’s an irrational fear. When that happens, it’s best to get out of bed and turn the lights on and start the day, that helps tremendously. Lastly, the quality of your thoughts before bed is extremely important. Proceed at your own pace, be confident and patient. I hope the best for you.

I’m interested in your symptoms, method of taper and how you are doing today.

It’s 10% or less cuts EVERY 4-6 weeks. Doing that every week or two weeks is DANGEROUS and will most likely cause worse and longer withdrawal timelines (meaning how much you suffer once you’re off). And withdrawal can last for years.
Let me guess, you would have told me at 1.5mg of Klonopin I should be able to just stop? With a “Lower dose” you can just stop? No such thing as a low dose of Benzos. No you can’t just stop a low dose and use more psych meds or barbiturates/drugs to treat Benzo withdrawal. It does not work and then you have to taper that med. And FYI you can also get withdrawal Akathisia which NO ONE talks about!! I mean NO ONE!! Yeah you CANNOT treat withdrawal Akathisia like drug induced Akathisia.

Being that you are on such a low dose, it’s unlikely that detox will be difficult. Many of the blog posts caused me concern, but over the past 35 years, I’ve gone on and off Alprazolam or Xanax whenever I felt I did not need it for my anxiety, PTSD, and in recent years for muscle relaxation due to excruciating small intestine pain from a partial ileus and bowel loops caused by a botched gallbladder surgery. I never had a problem reducing the dose and stopping the medication over a six week period.👍🏽 (at times past, I quit within a week with only a few days discomfort, but this last time was for the intestinal issues and at the higher dose) so I did it gradually.
The highest dose I’ve been on was one mg twice daily. Within six weeks I was down to .25 mg (or .25 mg twice a day some days as needed). I had no problem as long as I took some natural herbal supplements to keep my twisting bowel under control, and other natural supplements such as B-6, Magnesium with L-Argenine, Aloe Vera Juice, a CBD tincture for stress reduction, and other safe things from what I call my natural medicine toolbox.
I reduced by .25 mg per day the first two weeks, then to a .50 mg dose per day reduction for the next two weeks. By week five, one .25 mg dose per day was sufficient with no withdrawal symptoms. The rest was no problem as well. All those scary posts had me worried for nothing.
I chose to stop taking this med because it is an anticholinergic that depletes Acetylcholine which can increase the risk of dementia. At 69 years old and in poor health, that
      is something I don’t need.
Just take it slowly and add prayer, meditation, positive thinking, and a healthy diet along with any other stress reduction techniques you can add to your routine. 🫠 You can do this. 👍🏽

I'm currently still dependent on Valiums. I recently turned 29 an I've been taking it for 11 years & im scared that one day I'll run out since I thought I had enough to cut off my supplier Doc; this was 1 year ago when I had pills stocked up. But now I'm down to 40 pills & I feel scared. It's 5mg mostly 1 a day, but that's going on 11 years. How do I stop?

@@خالدمحمدالعبدالقادر-ظ9ه , pleasure to meet you. I have seen that work for some people. I have also witnessed people not being able to tolerate @ .1 or 1/10 of a milligram reduction without going into P.A.W.S.,
What is almost as disturbing as the withdrawal is the Complete lack of Knowledge of this dynamic in the Medical world.
Recently I witnessed a Doctor, a member of the AMA tell a patient "this is my fault, I am sorry. I did not monitor this correctly. I believe this is why you fell."
(The patient passed out in a store and hit their head on the concrete floor, just "shorted out.")
This is so rare, (the Dr.'s owning Responsibility in the care of the patient) but for the patient who experienced this nightmare it was a gift from God.
I am so grateful for this act of mercy in a time where patients are being tormented by the people supposedly caring for them.
The Doctor after hearing the term "PAWS" educated themselves in the arena, his response was he had been shocked by his findings, instead of increasing the resentment toward the patient.

several options: go back up to maybe 1mg and come down more slowly. Another option is to try IV NAD. 10 days of that will help. You may try a small amount of pheobarbital. Lastly, if you can exercise, sweat, and try to rest you will get through it. I guess it depends on how bad you're feeling
