Part 2 of my Anne Of Green Gables series review is up now! This features books 6-9 -- Anne Of Ingleside, Rainbow Valley, Rilla Of Ingleside and The Blythes Are Quoted. Watch here ☞ ruclips.net/video/8jrCGe3YBNE/видео.html
If you’re looking for a more accurate adaptation of Anne of Green Gables, definitely check out the 1979 anime Akage no Anne, if you haven’t already! It follows nearly all the chapters from the book to a T (the only exception is the Haunted Wood chapter) and it hardly diverges from source material. The only times that it does is when it expands on preexisting scenes from the original story or adds new scenes. There are only a few minuscule changes here and there, with not much being omitted. It’s a 30-minute 50-episode series and all of it has been uploaded on RUclips. It’s wonderful- it really manages to capture the coming-of-age aspect of the story and does the book justice.
I agree with your opinion on the beautiful writing of the classic authors! I would love to see more poetic, descriptive style writing in the contemporaries. Anne is on my Classic TBR for sure!
Came late to the L M Montgomery game as a 40 year old man and tried to convince some male friends to read Anne of Green Gables or The Blue Castle unsuccessfully. Knowing I’m not the target audience for this, I’ve read and enjoyed all L M Montgomery book and a few biographies and some secondary literature about the author and her works. Perhaps it’s my version of my little pony, which is also enjoyed by grown men these days. 🤔

I think I am one of the few people who love Anne of Windy Poplars. I just like the characters, love Kathrine Brooke.❤️

I'm really beginning to enjoy classics!
Read Anne in the order 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 4, 6. That was the original publication order.
That would be my recommendation too.
