    Sew a pocket to the front of a tshirt and put a tennis ball in it, this is how a lot of people stop snoring (except they put the pocket on the back)

      If you're a coffee drinker; keep in mind that waking up with a headache is frequently a sign of Caffeine withdrawal. If your headache goes away within 15 minutes of your morning coffee, that'd be pretty solid evidence. Have a coffee before an aspirin :-) Buy this device anyway - it's a great idea, and not sleeping on your stomach is preventative too!

    • @draglorde
      @draglorde 2 года назад +1

      @@R.Daneel yeah I can recognize coffee withdrawal headaches but those are a bit different and correlate with my stiff neck.
      Good point tho :)

    Nice project. And kudos for just going and doing it, without making it a kickstarter. It's so refreshing to see people taking an idea to the product stage without resorting to crowdfunding. And yes, as you probably can guess, I been burnt enough times by crowdfunding.

    Nice job. I have an anti-snoring device called a “smart Nora”, it uses a pump to inflate an airbag under the pillow to get you to turn over.

      Interesting! I will check it out. Thanks 😉

    • @thomasvnl

      Sounds like that makes a bit of noise

    • @shm5547
      @shm5547 2 года назад

      @@thomasvnl it’s actually really quiet. The pump goes under the bed in a fabric box. Just a pipe up to the pillow airbag. Stupidly expensive for what it is though and I'm not sure it really stopped me snoring, but it did make me change sleeping position. It broke after 4 years though. I think the pump batteries have given up. On my list of things to fix.

    If battery life is a big concern, I would consider increasing sleep times even more. Honestly a check every 5 minutes seems reasonable. A device like that might perform worse when it comes to training you into keeping the right position though.

  • @newmonengineering
    @newmonengineering 2 года назад +3

    I was wondering how that would compare to the Seeed nRF52840 Sense? that has everything I think you need already onboard but I was wondering how it would compare to your design as far as power consumption? because the xiao I think is smaller than your, it has all of the same functions but it might use more battery I'm not sure, but it's a whole lot easier because it's already built and ready for this task.

  • @vincentguttmann2231

    If you want to get into some weird stuff, maybe you could use electric shocks to wake yourself up? However, with the big resistance of the skin, that'd need a high voltage regulator and you need to ensure good skin contact.

      @@EliteWorm Oh I'd be more worried about you, especially if you wear it on your waistband. Wouldn't want it to become dislodged which would also lead to erroneous readings...
      As for weight, you'd be surprised how heavy stuff on your waistband can be. I sleep with my insulin pump clipped to the waistband of my pyjamas. The pump weighs about 150 grams, and has never gotten off the waistband. Truth be told the biggest annoyance is the tube getting... tangled.

    Hello,
    The boxes at 1:02. Where did you get them? And do they close up well enough so the smds can't slip out, and does the lid stay closed up as well if it were to fall over?
    I have been looking for a way to store especially smd caps in a secure (since they don't have markings) and space-saving way.
    Thank you!

    • @EliteWorm
      @EliteWorm  2 года назад +1

      These boxes are from AliExpress, just search for “SMD containers”. They do not close perfectly, so if you flip them, 0402 or smaller components might escape. There are better ones, but these are good enough for me.

    Awesome project idea, but posture is not panning out as having any relevance to pain (recent research papers and stuff). If you stay in the same posture too long you get pain. Maybe it could tell you to change position instead? E.g. sit straight for a while, slouch forward for a while, rest on an elbow for a while etc. Trouble is, fixating on posture and worrying about it seems to result in more issues...

  • @Cuplex1

    I thought it was going to be a device to wake you up if you have fallen asleep at the desk, face down and mushed against the keyboard. 😉
    The warning when sleeping on your back deludes me though, thats the best sleeping position for your neck if you have a pillow.

    Is their any need of motor driver for vibrator, because ultimately vibrators are also motor. Which driver you have used here??

  • @CharlesVanNoland
    @CharlesVanNoland 2 года назад

    MEMS accelerometers have drift - they lose position over time unless you have something to re-calibrate them. Gravity is typically used, but must be filtered out and deduced from the sensor, which can be tricky. For directional sense usually a directional MEMS compass is used but that's not needed here. I think an array of angularly arranged mercury switches would've been more reliable, and simpler. Cool project though!

  • @OneIdeaTooMany

    I'm interested. I don't have instagram. As a suggestion: put the clip on the front so the strap of the underwear goes over the entire device. The status lights don't need to be seen during operation, so that shouldn't be an issue. Also, sleeping for several minutes instead of seconds would likely be just fine. A few minutes on your stomach probably wouldn't cause too much of an issue after all yet save a lot of the battery. I'd retrofit mine with an inductive loop for my wireless charger, but that's nothing to do with the current design.
