And then when I'm about to escape out of Harran to pull off my master plan, I'll let him know exactly where I am and what I'm doing so he can stop me! I'm such a good villain." As a writer, I'm not exaggerating when I say that Rais is the worst antagonist I've seen in any form of entertainment.
Rais was alright and Waltz was meh. Both games had loads of room for improvement when it came to the story. In DL2 some of the most prevalent story issues to me was the insanely fast pacing of the story and the survivors being shown as the "good guys" and the peacekeepers being "bad guys" near the late game. I was really hoping both groups would be more gray. Also, I'm sick of games giving the illusion of choice.
Came here from reddit to say how i disagree. 1. Dying Light first game's writing was actually good 2. Rais is a good villain 3. All my homies just pwn goons and demolishers with a shotgun blast to the head

Completely different mediums which can't be compared. From the writing standpoint, the story is as predictable as they come, the writing is as generic as it can get for a zombie game, filled with cliches and almost all the characters are either 2-dimensional, fucking stupid or just lazy ripoffs from other games. But a forgettable and mediocre story does not take away from the game's amazingly crafted atmosphere or one of the best soundtracks in any zombie game. Like holy shit, the fact that I have to explain that is beyond retarded. And if you think the writing is actually good, then it's evident that you just have really shit taste in storytelling...
