Wow to be in that crowd again during this performance. It was electric, the crowd were going mad. Been to WestEnd Live many a time, but this was my absolute highlight. Lucie's voice was so clear and strong as well.
Am I the only one who wants a UK Wicked cast album?? Preferably by Helen and Lucie but I'll accept everyone with a British accent (cuz we already have an American one okay).
Just after seeing this show literally a few hours ago and came on to watch RUclips videos. I really have to say Lucie Jones was Absolutely outstanding And also the performer who played Galinda. Two complete talents. A very enjoyable watch! The vocals where amazing .
i was there today, my first ever west end live. wicked is my favourite show, lucie and helen are an amazing pair! their energy was felt the minute they walked on stage, they looked genuinely happy to be there. lucies voice was so powerful, she filled trafalgar square. love them!
@@doyouhearthepeoplesing2 i also saw them in may and was sobbing so i guess it’s personal preference! they’re both so talented and i’m in utter awe of them.
I would give anything to go back to being in the crowd in this moment! It’s a shame you can’t hear it from the video but everyone was singing their lungs out in the crowd and it was honestly incredible and heartwarming moment
@@doyouhearthepeoplesing2 You must be listening to a different audio if you think Lucie cannot sing this role. Sure, she may not be to everyone’s taste (and that’s life), but there’s no denying she can sing the notes. :)
If only there as the chance to have Sophie Evans sing alongside Lucie Jones. Sophie’s performance last year as Glinda with Lucie as Elphaba this year would be amazing.
I saw her last night at the Apollo Victoria and she's absolutely incredible her voice and her acting I fell in love with her elphaba within five minutes of her being on stage
I honestly can’t ever understand how amazing Helen and Lucie are together and also I love Helen’s voice in any song but Lucies voice blows me away. Every note is on point no matter what which most elohabas find hard to do.
Went to go and see Lucie on Saturday and my word she is amazing. I've seen the show a number of times and her take on the role is one to def go and see she is a natural up there and is a credit to such a role.
just saw it at the Apollo last month. knew nothing of the story but omdz I was hooked instantly and sobbing by the end. just incredible! really hope I get to see it again
Wow Lucie Jones has come a long way since she first did The X Factor back in 2009 but sadly got knocked out by twins Jedward who was mentored by Louis Walsh. They went on further and sadly she didn't and was knocked out. But saying that it turned out better for her because look what's happened to her now having a better career in now doing stage shows like IE The Waitress, Les Miserables and of course this one Wicked, and possible many more hopefully still singing and doing theatre when she's finished this show when it ends, and The X Factor? Sadly no more thank god it got cancelled in the end. So on that note great video.
Ha, I was sooo annoyed and sad when Simon Cowell chose Jedward over Lucie!! 😤😤 ‘…that’s it, i’m not watching X factor ever again…’ ‘…they kept the crap entertainment in rather than the real talent…’ 😂😂😂
@@chrisbullPiano I have to agree with you not a fan of Simon but did you know that Lucy was not the only one to preform at west end live on the certain day that Simon sent home he has sent home quite a few people who are more successful on the west end now
Saw Wicked in Gershwin in NYC and it was one of the best experiences of my life!!!! I'm not a giant musical fan, but Eicked is particularly special. For Samhain mny years I dressed as the Wivked Witch eith MAC makeup for show and I can say I feel mire pretty as the WWitch compared to normal complexion. Wish I could sing like this. This is lovely.
WIth a beautiful story and amazing songs, whoever plays Elphaba, just appeared to be a fearless woman. Her green skin at least for me is making her stronger yet kindhearted
Incredible performances from them both. So sad to see people watching it through their phones instead of enjoying the moment. The whole thing is professionally recorded, embrace the fact your there and put your phone away!
Why do they do the same songs every year 😂? Good singing by the way . Not hating bc I absolutely love this so much but I feel like they do these 2 songs every year .
They do the same exact thing for Matilda. Every year, they have one of the current girls from the show perform "Naughty". In 2019, "When I Grow Up" was performed with most of the cast. I love this show too but not as much as Matilda.
Usually musicals do the same songs because they work best to do live. Shows tend to do the big numbers, or songs that show off the vibe and cast but don’t give away too much of the plot
I’m glad they are not trying to hide their British accents, I know that sometimes with American stories they use a fake American accent, but with stories like this there is really no need, Oz is a fictional place anyway, the only characters that would have an American accent is Dorthy and the wizard who are from Kansas, but even then I never understood why people use fake accents, it sounds much better to just use your natural one and doesn’t detract from the story at all 👍🏻
It may not have been Idina or comparable to Wilhemijn at her best. But beyond every performer is a person. I am sure they are trying to deliver at the best of what they can. There is no attitude for total cruelty 'She cannot sing...?' towards someone who is a trained singer with maybe some singing flaws they needed to train off? But otherwise fitting vocally into the character well enough. People do have fluctuations in daily performances. People nowadays only accept absolute perfection in the times of auto-tune, multiple takes but together on an album to make it 'perfect.' People have never been more cruel than in times of modern social media. One note that is under the expectations of the viewers and you are getting scrutinised. And it is out there for everyone to see. This isn't easy. Putting yourself out there.
You cannot judge the overall skills of a performer by one performance only, anyway. Even if West End Live is a showcase for all the shows running. I find it a pity Elphaba gets a bit drowned out by Glinda duetting.
But some comments are cruel. Most of the notes were not off. But hardly any performers are as perfectly trained up for Wicked as Idina or Wilhemijn. They both make perfect Elphaba. And comparing that to someone who hasn't got same x years of performing that role under the belt, yet... . It is difficult to say how things can develop. But to tell someone that they sing everywhere wrong...? If you want to criticise, at least criticise some points to work on, instead of just saying: she can't sing...? She may not have been technically the best singer she could still become, yet.
Lucie Jones knows how to rock a crowd anyway, never mind in an Iconic role as well. She’s such a talent!
She has the best smile in the business...even when she's green!
Everyone’s talking about Lucie Jones but let’s not forget about Helen who’s playing Galinda because she’s brilliant too
and her unique way to portray Glinda. More inspired by Billie Burke than Kristin Chenoweth. 🤯🤯 loved it
Yeah! Well said. She kept up, superbly, with Lucie in the overlapping part.
