If you have a manual transmission Patriot and you go into limp mode due to throttle body issues, the following will reset it temporarily, while in motion: 1. Clutch/put in neutral. 2. Turn off engine. 3. Turn on engine. 4. Return to correct gear and proceed. Takes about five seconds.

Yeah brother thank you so much fixed my jeep patriot 2010, it conked out on the highway but this got it out of only being able to do like 5-10km/h in some safe mode
My son held down on the cruise control buttons while the jeep was off now below the 2nd big Speedometer in the square box where symbols go when the jeep is off there's dim lit lines from left to right like 4 or 5 with spaces in between each line... after a while of the jeep being off it goes away...?
I’m having throttle body issues with my 07 patriot did you change the pedal sensor as well or just the throttle body ? And was your having problems at idle and not having any response from the gas pedal or just problems at idle ?
You must have either a crank shaft sensor bad, bad throttle body, or mass airflow. I would recommend taking it to get a computer scan to see what codes pop up. And then go off of that
You might have solved a problem for me. Mine is running great right now but let me tell you the background. I'm just now found out that if you mess with the spare tire it can cause engine problems so I'm on RUclips trying to figure out what the freak that is because mine years ago all the sudden the lightning bolt would come on and it would rev up and yes I can drive it because I had to I was stuck but it would not go into second gear it sounded like it's an automatic 2014 Patriot. Anyway after several mechanics it was deemed to be a relay. So for about 3 years after that was changed it ran great. Well couple weeks ago I had the oil changed. That same day, as I was doordashing probably 4 hours later the same freaking thing happened. I was stuck in a different town and charged $170 to clean the throttle body and it didn't give me any issues for about another 5 days. Then once I stopped at a red light all the sudden here happened again. I pulled over turn the ignition off and on and miraculously it just hasn't done it again. So I'm wondering if we're the oil company that changed my oil had me to depress my gas pedal.. caused the situationTo happen againAnd it really is not the relay again?? I don't know but it runs fine but I'm scared to drive it out of town. This might be my problem and thank you so much for making this video. But if you have heard of taking the spare tire out and it causing engine problems? Please let me know because I did let someone borrow my spare tire before this happened the first time.. or yes it could have been because I had my oil changed and when it was reset that happened then. Well mine went out due to having to change my thermostats, the computer is located directly on top of the engine and where I needed to get to I had to unplug the computer for a second and that’s what caused my issue. So if the people who changed your oil may have accidentally unplugged your computer for a minute or two that could have potentially been the issue. Gotta be careful on who you let work on your vehicle, some people know some real tricky things and will do things like, in your vehicles case, unplug the computer and plug it back up hoping to throw something out of wack in order to get themselves returned service from you.

I'm not sure that it was the oil change because I was sitting in the car, it was at a quick lube and they didn't specialize in any other work to want me back haha but good thinking. This is a permanent fix. But I will say if your throttle body or anything associated with it is messed up and needs replaced, doing this throttle body reboot will not fix the broken or faulty parts. You must replace whatever is faulty first, then do this. The computer is on top of the air filter so a lot of people unhook the computer to get to the air filter and thus the throttle body just needs reset. Again, if you’ve unplugged your computer it puts your jeep in limp mode and this throttle body reset will take it out of limp mode and remove the lights on the dash. But this throttle body reboot WILL NOT magically fix any broken or faulty parts. You must replace faulty parts BEFORE doing the reboot.

Ok I tried that didn't work any other suggestions? I also removed the negative from battery then ran in neutral and then low drive that didn't work. Suggestions? I really don't have money for dealership
There is a video on here somewhere that tells you how to completely reset your ecm. You basically have to zip tie your negative and positive cables together for about ten minutes and that will drain any remaining power from your engine which will reset your ecm. After that use this video to reset your throttle body and your good to go!
Hey man I recently got a 2014 Jeep Patriot Sport & I got the oil Changed recently and 2 weeks after it started reviving by its self and now it even revs at red lights so I have to sit with the car in neutral so I don’t hit anyone , I get the red lighting bolt from time to Tim but not always . I was wondering if I did this solution if it would fix my problems . I have 129k Miles . No wrecks or anything .
I had that problem before I got the lighting light I changed some stuff .but still the light was on.finally I changed plugs and spark plugs good bye light and problem on my 2016 patriot. Maybe it helps you in something
@@apu90 mine threw up abs light, battery light, check engine and I think one other light which is what led me to try this and it worked, but there was nothing wrong with my jeep prior I had just unhooked the computer and it needed a reboot. If you’ve got some kind of issues going on with electric wiring or any other kind of problems this won’t magically solve it until the bad parts and or wires are replaced. But it’s worth a try and may save you some money, but take this advice if it doesn’t work to have it checked by a certified mechanic
@@callmehgoku6484 I had 16 codes my mechanic did relearn throttle from computer but still 3 permanent codes showing p0010, p0013, p2008 2 for crank one for short runner valve so I left my car he said I will change cam sensor I hope it will fix it now I am really done and disappointed how complicated these jeeps are

My mom has a 2013 jeep Patriot latitude and hers recently went into limp mode with the lighting ⚡ light the engine light the slippery car light replaced the throttle position sensor and still have the same problem start it and it's back into limp mode if we start and turn off a few times everything goes back normal only 98,035 miles
@@WasBlind_NowISee no, a throttle body reboot. Not the actual throttle body. Dont believe me call and ask for yourself they will charge anywhere from 500-1200 depending on your vehicle. And for this Jeep they were going to charge me $784.76 make sure you pay attention before making smart remarks.

2013 jeep patriot here and just swapped the throttle body, tried this and and still just keeps cranking without the engine turning

turning the key to the on position ( not running)
Then back off (not taking the key out)
For three times
On the third time take the key out of the ignition

No way I spent 550$ but still have 13 codes after cleaning my throttle it’s too late 2am but definitely will try in the morning

Your throttle body might be bad or going
Nope mine is still shutting off after everything has been replaced
Check mass airflow sensor or anything to do with the throttle
Try resetting your ecm. I put the instructions on how to do this in an earlier comment.
