Privates too! Wow, that's awesome. I always point to the few privates I've done as some of my best choices in BJJ
@@TylerSpangler best decisions I've made to improve my game ! I always ask what does the next level me look like, when I was a 3 stripe white belt I said what would a 4 stripe white belt me look like. Then we'd spend the hour on exactly that
I'm a white belt, been training 6 months. I've learned that if I just go for Judo Side control (scarfhold) and get the Kimura from there. If I can't do that, I just step into their guard and turn for a kneebar
Blue belt 4 stripe here, started in Jan 2013 and got my blue belt as soon as i turned 16 in July 2015, so about 2 and half years. Did 4 years of Judo whilst at uni doing bjj on the side without a high level coach, now back doing bjj 10 times a week, hunting down that purple belt!
10 times a week! That’s awesome! I got my blue belt as a youngster too! It’s an awesome feeling isn’t it?
@@TylerSpangler Yeah man, feels great to train full time, apart from my poor 23 year old knees feeling like I'm 90!
Oh yeah, getting my blue belt a couple days after my 16th is still one of the best moments of my life! And Lord the target it put on my back!
Blue belt. Took me 2 years to get but I took a good chunk of 2020 off. But when I am able to go, I always go.
Awesome job on your blue belt mate!
1 stripe purple belt, August was year 8 for me
On and off eh
White belt with 1 stripe, 3 months of training and I'm obsessed with this martial art. Avg 5 days of training a week.
5 days! That’s a awesome! You’ll move right along
Blue belt here. It took me 3 years and i've been a blue belt since february 2020. Had to stop about 9 months due to covid shutdowns. Been training constantly ever since!
Gained a ton of weight tho hahaha
Glad you've gotten back to training mate!
White belt with 4 stripes. I have a Shodan in Judo but that achieved many years ago. I am trying to get into the habit, but honestly having commitment issues. Been forcing myself to go 3 times a week without breaks.
That’s still a lot!!
Purple belt. 10 months at white, 15ish months at blue. Purple was definitely early. Had to grow into it. Been rolling a little over 4 years now.
Moving right along those ranks! Nice work mate
Hey bud, would love for you to make more lower belt analysis videos like this to help us noobs. (would prefer gi hehe)
Transitioned off and on to bjj since 2010, brown belt for a year now and I’m getting pretty nervous because I don’t feel like I’m ready for a black belt but I know it’s coming soon…I have black belts in other styles but jiujitsu is an entirely different experience, constantly humbled.
No strip white belt. 3 months of training. 30 yes old. I love it.
Great time to start! The stripes will come!
White belt 6 months of training. Won my first Naga tournament. It’s pretty easy to tap other white belts now
White belt, no stripes. Started in August 2021, but lost a whole month of training due to Hurricane Ida.
I’m glad you started!
White belt, zero stripes. Took me 36 years to get here! 😂
52 year old blue belt. Covid ate my BJJ, but starting up again after 5 months off following 1 year. Expect cardio to be shit, old man strength to be gone and probably only my half guard to remain loyal. But we always get what we deserve and BJJ serves up karma in this life, not the next.
White belt, started spring 2023 at 37.
I am a white belt. I tapped a few blue belts in sparring, but I also have a judo and wrestling background so it's not the same.
no striple white belt, 1 month and 2 weeks now, after starting BJJ I almost feel lucky about being brazilian
Congrats on starting mate!
Jesus, look at the state of his Yes GI trousers 😮
May as well just do no gi!
I'm a white belt 0 stripes just started training traditional BJJ last month but has done no gi grappling since 2013 in which I earned my Blue belt
Blue Belt, took 2 years to get. I train 3 days a week at the academy. Drills with dummies at home 1-2 days a week.
Nice job mate! Good progress
Smothering? Is that a common thing?
Not really, it’s when Mike likes to let people know he’s ahead of them.
Congrats on your black belt! I'm a 4 stripe blue belt, got it in 2 years, been at it for 8 years total. It was pretty consistent, but I changed gyms twice, enlisted in the National Guard, then got injured in class and had to have surgery. Sooo, it's been a long road so far :P
2-Stripe Blue Belt, training since July of 2018, Blue since August of 2020
Ayyy nice job mate
Brown belt. I've been training for 9 years but have had about 3 long breaks (longest was 3 years) along the way. Still feel like a beginner sometimes.
Imma brown belt and tap out too lower belts all the time including white belts lol. It's part of the BJJ game lol. Bottom line have fun learn and try not to get hurt is the intention. Obviously these two training partners have good chemistry to train together. Good roll OSS 🤙🏿
4 stripe purple belt. Been doing it since about 2010 ish. Was out a few years from a motorcycle wreck but for the most been doing is consistently. I know exactly what move he was trying to do from Craig Jones. He did it when he visited a 10 planet
Yes that move is awesome. I saw the video of it and have been wanting to try it on someone. Craig is a beast. Hope you’re okay after that wreck you had. Keep up the good work!
@@TylerSpangler doing great still competing. Ty sir
It took me 34 years to get my white belt. I’ve been at it for like 6 months.
Grats bro! Good time to start!
