Knowing the sport of wrestling is 🔑,if you wrestled before and have now become a professional photographer you most likely have an advantage in anticipation of action moves that may be turned up from slow mode

Great tips! As my son starts another season of wrestling, I'm reminded of how hard this sport is to shoot compared to most other outdoor sports I do. The tip for using the ref's grey shirt for WB is awesome. Another good tool I used was at the last meet, there was a white sheet of paper hanging from each timing table that ended up in the background of many of my shots. That worked brilliantly for WB. I'm tempted to bring a stack of paper to each meet and just politely ask if I could tape one to the table if there isn't one already there. I also liked your tip for organizing photos by mat as I encountered a similar problem with drastically different colored mats. I have found that using a 50 mm prime with my crop frame D7000 works quite well. I do still have to crop some images after, but overall the results are great.

I’ve come back to your video multiple times for tips - I have found your information very useful.

Thank you, lots of good advice. I agree, keep your shutter speed high enough. I’ve found that nearly every match has a burst of speed, whether it be a takedown, reversal, etc., and if your shutter speed is too slow, you will not get the shot. I’ve also found that by the time I grab the second camera and bring it up to to my face to quickly compose, the moment is past, so I don’t use a second camera for this (even though I have one).

That’s what I’m looking to do. What lens do you use for a tournament?

For high school check your rules. Once sectionals start you may not be allowed to use flash.

Hi Vincent.......Great tutorial ! You said that you like shooting with the 135 & 85mm lenses, can you tell me if you are shooting with a full frame or a crop sensor body? The reason that I am asking, is because I will be using a Canon 7d (Crop Sensor), and I was wondering if these lenses are going to be to long.......Thanks, Bob

Switching cameras takes time. If it's not to change focal lengths otlr technical issues, wouldn't it be faster and more acessible for most using custom profiles? Justvswitch ffrom c1 to c2 and voila, new iso, shutter and aperture settings. Also, couldn't you move in closer? I find the background in most pictures a huge detriment to the photo's. Getting in closer gives you more relative difference in distance, increasing bokeh. Plus, you might find a nifty fifty would be enough, increasing bokeh even more, much more affordable then almost any other lens and far less "intimidating" to the public / subjects.

I have a Nikon D7200... I am still trying to figure out the manual settings. My pictures that are not blurry are too dark. Any suggestions?

Increase the iso and open up the aperture. Perhaps use a flash? Perhaps I can help. Can you show me some examples with the exif data?
