Thank you so much for this tutorial. We had gotten this remote for an older tv & never got it to work. Years later we now have an ONN smart tv & the remote has been misplaced. ONN was not on the code list but by using the auto code method I got the remove to work....yay! I was not able to turn the tv on to set the remote up. The tv turned on during the 1st run of 10 codes. I left the TV on and started the setup process over to ensure I got the correct code stored. I am very pleased! :-)

Thank you. Before your instructions programming the remote was like giving birth to a bail of barbed wire. Programming with your instructions was a piece of cake.
THANK YOU!!! kids dropped the remote causing the batteries to pop out of place, my husband etched the numbers on the back but didn’t tell me how to use them. He was gone at work and it’s summer time, had to get it going!!
This worked like a charm! So grateful. My old remote has an "info" button. When pushed and regular tv was on, I could see what program was on (banner popped up across the top). This remote doesn't have that feature. Or does it?
HI Kelly.. It doesn't look like it. Have you tried the star button or others even if they don't make sense? I doubt it, but I usually press buttons to see what they do..
HI, I believe you have to program that as if it were 2 stand alone units. Just for fun I used a Sony for example (I didn't know your brand) and the codes for a vcr were different than a dvd.... Any of those buttons will program to whatever device code you put into it. So use 2 buttons, 1 for each device. They are not bound by the label on the button. Hopefully that helps...

Thanks for this vid i was able to program my GE remote using the 10 codes that is being sent by the remote itself. I do have issues though. Other functionalities does not work like input buttons. Is there anything else i could do than entering all those codes one at a time? Thanks man
So if you've tried all the codes that will work your TV and none of them work the buttons in question, theres not much else you can do. If you have the original remote you can use it to program a teachable remote. Unfortunately this remote isn't teachable.

Usually when you get to where you can type in the password, you use the arrow keys to bump the cursor around. There are also options for capital letters and numbers as well.

HI, wouldn't you just leave the cable box volume all the way up and then adjust the TV volume accordingly? You should be able to control them separately..

I'm trying to figure out how do I set up hot keys for my controller? I'm trying to do literally the same thing as you, to have the app1 button open up Netflix but I'm having trouble figuring out how.
When inserting batteries the powerlight will light up for about 10 seconds but is otherwise completely unresponsive to anything else. Pressing/holding gets no response for any button. Any ideas? No worries if not and thanks for the vid

I recently bought the GE Big Button Backlit Universal Remote Control and I’m trying to program it to my elderly parents Sanyo TV…which is probably like a 2007 model big screen….they’ve lost the code list, and there is no sticker on the inside saying which model it is! This has become quite the nightmare 😩 I’ve tried every code on every list you have posted.
Did the remote come with it's own code list? If not, try to google the code list for GE Big Button Remote. IF that still doesn't work, is there an auto code search method you can try?
I didn't have to do anything at all. Those are the backlights for the remote buttons. You might want to consult the book and see if there's a way to turn that on or off..

HI, If I remember right those app buttons weren't programmable. They either work or they didn't. Have you tried all the codes for your TV?

It'll probably work just basic functions. I don't remember, but I don't think this remote has shortcuts for apps like Netflix, RUclips, etc.

How do you get the blue lights on? Mine are off & I reset my remote.
