I like this more because it actually focuses on the process of making music it's I think it's much more entertaining and interesting than going on tour montages and fast edits and lame wigs
@@Alastarsblade 2014 Oscar Lineup was one of the most solid last decade with Whiplash, Birdman, Boyhood, TGBH and TOE. So it's really a tough competition to enter. Not gonna lie. I was a snob about the Beach Boys (living in England in the 60s - I assumed we had the best!) But the film Love and Mercy taught me what I had not known, and I was humbled. And thrilled to discover this amazing process of creating great sounds.
RIP the two members of The Beach Boys Dennis Wilson (December 4, 1944 - December 28, 1983), aged 39 Carl Wilson (December 21, 1946 - February 6, 1998), aged 51 You both will always be remembered as legends.
Its amazing how Queen and Elton John cannot be escaped on the radio due to their biopics and yet Brian, who’s biopic was a far better film (and who’s music is OBJECTIVELY superior), is NEVER heard on oldies stations even once. I can’t remember the last time I heard The Beach Boys or Phil Spector on the radio. Sad really....
Goose Langston they arent as catchy as those two plus beach boys didnt have the same success after their peak (which doesnt make them a worse band than queen or elton john). but it is what it is
The Beach Boys are usually only taken at face value by the majority of people in this country. Not a lot of people really dig deeper to hear the stunning brilliance of Brian’s music. The general thought about the group is that they became popular with their surf/car/fun in the sun hits in the early ‘60s (the music that they’re still primarily known for) and then fell off the map by the time the psychedelic era took hold, and they never did anything noteworthy again. Of course this is way off, reality is a lot more complicated than that. Of course, there are a great number of fans who know all about and love albums like Wild Honey, Friends and Sunflower or Brian’s lost masterpiece, the SMiLE album. Thankfully, thanks to Love & Mercy, many have a newfound appreciation for Brian’s life story and music.
Ha ha! I just noticed in sloop John B. Al is way too tall and the actor who played Carl is sorta too thin! Carl was a little chubbier, but I love this so much
@@flamingcabbage8359 Nah maybe except for Al and Mike but the Brian, Dennis, and Carl are all more attractive tbh (not saying the others aren’t of course)
Very awesome. I think this and The Beach Boys An American Family are the best because this provides a lot about Brian’s life. The Beach Boys An American Family shows almost everything that happened in the 60’s and 70’s.
I was actually surprised by how good An American Family is. The actors are a bit old and handsome, but it actually plays really well and the musical aspects of it are well done. Some really funny jokes, and Murray is really well acted and makes for some really intense scenes
i really like john cusack and think he did a good job as the older brian, but.... did they even TRY to get james spader???? he and dano would have gotten a joint oscar
I was gonna say, the only thing I didn't like about the movie was they seemed to think they had to make the band members fit and hot. I don't think they were ever sex symbols lol
Yeah, seemed a misstep. And John Cusack is a good actor but he was just playing John Cusack. Dano felt a lot more like he was inhabiting Brian Wilson and actually giving a performance.
it must have been a hard role to play given how brian was at that point in his life, being given whatever the "doctor" was giving him. He portrayed his sadness and fear well but obvioulsy the personality wasnt there for a lot of that time
The song is called Surf’s Up. It is one of the greatest songs ever recorded by any band ever. Recorded originally for the Smile album but then shelved until 1971 when they finished it and put it out as a single and also on the Surf’s Up album. Sadly, It didn’t even chart in 1971.
Stop comparing movies and just enjoy things for once. You being aware of and enjoying a so called better movie more than the popular one doesn’t make you tasteful, nobody cares. Love and Mercy was a better biopic (though the jumping back between decades was a bit jarring, wish they just put both story lines after another) because it decided to tell a mostly true story instead of a constructed narrative that Bohemian Rhapsody followed (Freddie being this egotistical bastard who broke up the band and the rest of the members shown as saints. Wonder who made that happen?) BR still deserves more credit. It’s not a bad movie it’s pretty damn good and looks pretty damn good. Rami killed it and so did the rest of the band.
@@dimitreze Wasn’t referring to you, more so everyone else who watched this video. But good to know that you don’t take comments like that very well, I would work on that but as I’ve learned recently; you do what you want
The recreation of the Sloop John B promotional film and the film of Brian' solo version of Surf's Up are absolutely astounding.
My favorite parts of the movie were these.
I was hoping these would be on the movie, and when I saw it in theaters, I lit up
better biopic than bohemian rhapsody.
100%
I agree

Why didnt this movie win any academy awards?

Paul Dano did an amazing job. Great comparison!
I wholeheartedly agree
The fact he didn’t get nominated for an Oscar for this performance is just baffling
Paul Dano always does an amazing job. ❤
THIS is how you make a biopic.

A lot of "Classic Rock" stations really only go far back as the mid 70's. Sad because there are so many great 60's rock acts, but that's how it is.
The Bohemian Rhapsody movie created so many fake fans that it seriously turned me off from listening to their music.
Bruh how can you say quality music is objective and not see the flawed thinking
Truly astounded with the careful attention to detail in service of the story. They nailed the gear and outfits, not mention the era perfectly.
he plays brian wilson so beautiful in my books
Not going to lie for a second I thought the top one was the original footage...
This is probably one of the only biopics that actually follow the real life story in a movie
The Mike love actor looks so identical to mike love it’s actually pretty scary 1:17
This is brilliant.. like when you hear
Jake Abel and Mike Love sing Fun, Fun, Fun, at the same time... you can barely tell them a part!! :)
0:05 I love the I Get Around part a lot.
One of the few instances when the real-life subject is more good-looking than the biopic actor.
they kind of did brian some favors in term of the hair lol
0:45 Mike Love's actor is too active
Mike Love is a misunderstood guy I feel. I made this in that regard!! ruclips.net/video/gveqKwndhsY/видео.html
doesn't seem like he did his homework
Seems pretty nitpicky lmao
Absolute masterpiece of a film
Brilliant movie
I love you Brian Wilson 😭💖
Thank you so much for the video!!! I enjoyed watching this
GOD i love this movie so much
great job mate, brilliant...
thanks :)
paul is so cute in this film

@chicoronny6454 who was the ladies man?
I thought all the actors bore an almost uncanny resemblance to the real Beach Boys, especially Mike.
Out of the three I liked this one the best.😊❤

That guy is more Mike Love than Mike Love himself
I'd love for you to do introducing Dorothy Dandridge and scenes from Carmen or from her live performances with the movie!!
love beach boys and paul dano!!!
i really like john cusack and think he did a good job as the older brian, but.... did they even TRY to get james spader???? he and dano would have gotten a joint oscar
Jeff Daniels would've been a great choice for older Brian as well. I like Cusack, but I feel like he was a bit miscast
@@aceven2raa Maybe it's because I liked John Cusack in High Fidelity, but I felt he would have been more at home in a Bruce Springsteen biopic.
They were going to call the movie, "The Slim Fast Beach Boys"

lennonscat I agree to a certain extent but I think John did okay. If not John then who?
I gotta say I think Cusack hits it out of the park.
Could've been Charlie sheen if he put weight on

Cool channel. Subbed!

Me too.
Looking at the thumbnail I honestly cant tell which is the real one
Very Interesting
Muy buena peli
0:38 you showing the wrong comparison, that part is from the T.A.M.I show the beach boys did search it up, you messed up on that one
maybe is wasn't available when I made the video or I just didn't find
I searched for the closest video to match the scenes in the movie
dimitreze yeah no it was available it was uploaded to youtube 8 years ago, but still good comparisons
Well done.
They should have switched Dennis and Al's actors, what a weird casting
Wtf it didn't even have the scene in the thumbnail
Intro- year of release is 2014
Video -year of release is 2015
Title - year of release is 2016
Do you know when the movie came out??? 😂
whaaaat? hahaha
sorry, first time I noticed that
not a mistake I used to make
it's supposed to be 2014
there, I fixed at least one
thanks
Me encantó
Пол Дано!!!!!!!!
0:36 can someone tell the name of this song?.
Fun,fun,fun
The actor they got for Al is about a foot too tall
Can anyone tell me the name of the song Brian is playing at the end on the piano?
I think it's Surfs Up

All I can say is LSD is highly overrated.
