When I tell you I cried the first time I saw the Tiny Bronco, the first time Cid stepped out, and the first time we flew over Cosmo Canyon.

Yea. Not a big surprise when you want to impress journalists and access media that the source material gets retconned.
I think they don't need to make Cid an extremely abusive asshole with Shera...but this Cid is almost another character...when you meet Cid in the original game he is broken and frustrated, there is a reason for him to be so bitter...here he is a boy scoutt or something lol.
Yeah, real shame about that. I loved the payoff where he finally admits that Shera WAS indeed right after all. Plus, the reason he aborted the launch in the first place was because he couldn't let Shera burn... he cared for her enough not to sacrifice her, but apparently not enough to not verbally abuse her LOL
He still might be, but hides it by flying around. Wait till final game for his story.

He's working here. Back in OG when we met him he was pissed the fuck off because both we and Rufus wanted to grab the Tiny Bronco. Plus Shera ain't present here. Plenty of abusive people are able to keep a facade outside the home.

I hope we get to visit rocket town and do the rocket launch sequence either in part 3 or some DLC.
J Michael Tatum is probably the best fit for Cid.
He did a great job in Borderlands series. He kinda fit to the character too here too.

They kind of changed him completely. He's an asshole when you first meet him and starts yelling at Shera in front of everyone and now he just comes across as a rough around the edges good ol boy.
Idk I get wanting to tone him down how he treats Shera (screaming she's a dumb bitch when you first meet him) but he feels like a whole different character now.
@@geocelta1961I miss that. They made Cid practically PC. He is supposed to be a jerk, swear constantly and be abusive to Shera, blaming her for destroying his dream of going to space. It's part of his journey, as he learns at the end that the reactor was indeed faulty and apoligizes to Shera and live happy ever after, even naming his Advent Children ship after her.
@@MrReubenTishkoff I know. I played the original game and watched advent children. I still really disliked how he treated shera. Can't change how I feel about that. The rest of his attitude was fine.

Well Shinra is depicted as being way advanced with technology in the new one with everything from ver to combat simulators plus aircraft. The original came out in 1997 where the stuff were seeing now in remake and rebirth is supposed to represent our current times alas most of the stuff in this game tech wise is a pipe dream but we keep getting closer to that reality.
I feel like the 1997 Rufus and Shinra represented the tech at that time. He probably did need an aircraft but it wouldn’t make sense now because they can depict Shinra as a modern day corporation with money and funds galore.
@@RainbowKaraokeJunk-vt9pu It didn't make a whole lot of sense back then either. Only 2 flight capable craft on the entire planet and the company that runs half the world can't easily get one? They clearly knew how to build them and would have had more than enough reason to have multiple what with them being present on two seperate continents.

What Are You Guys Expecting Cid's Combat Skills/Combos To be?
For me, i would love cid to have a very Airborne Combat Focus, I mean it's His Thing Man! The guy loves the air. I'm hoping for a Character the launches enemies to the air and they never touch the ground again, and if they throw in some dragoon Signature Abilities i would be very happy (Cid Poledance When?) I know cid leans more to the "Engineer" "Demoliton Expert" type character with bombs and Gagdets, but i dunno i think Spear Master also suits him pretty well

He has a dragoon style in combat, so he will be doing jump abilities for sure. And i csnt wait for the dynamite and lighting it with his cigarette, I wish they add that. These characters are based off classic ff jobs. Cloud=knight, tifa=monk, barret=machinist, yuffie=ninja, caith=mage hybrid of green and blue and gambler, vincent and red are unique, and then cid=dragoon.
They really did nerfed Cid. No cigarettes and less foul mouth.

We don't have him in that capacity yet, I'm sure when he becomes more involved we will get it

I feel like they're saving Cid's 'drink your goddamn tea' moments for Part 3. Part 2 is just an introduction to him where he still needs to work to make money so yep airline business. I'm sure we will get Rocket Town in Part 3 where Shinra needs the rocket. And Cid will change his attitude only when Shera is around.
I do so wish that arrangement of Steal the Tiny Bronco/Countdown played every time the party rides with Cid.
Waiting for the eventual Steam release, but I just had to check out the new Cid! And, uh... wow....... he's not quite how I imagined. Younger, nicer, less depressed, not a chain smoker... huh. Of course this is Part 2 out of 3 so who knows what's in store for Cid in the next game.

I know people are miffed about the changes and whatever, but man, I'm kinda glad I could not care less about it and just enjoy it all for now. Can't say nothing about it all, but just see where it goes.

Aerith's facial expression of being called out for not knowing smoke signals is disquietingly impressive. Yuffie is a goofy thing and as for not enough space on the plane. Well, the girls need to sit on the guy's laps. And the cat needs to sit with the dog.

This is actual cid. The cid people remember isn't the real one. It was a localization thing. Resl cid wasn't as violent and badmouthed.

Those saying that this isn't like the Cid they know...
Have patience, we haven't gotten to Rocket Town yet, but we will almost certainly go there in Part 3, so... Maybe they're saving the more harsher side of him for that.
I can understand people being salty about the 180 of Cid's personality, but you do have tk remember that Remake/Rebirth is its own timeline. The OG Timeline still exists and this one is a change of pace in a lot of events. Cid is one of those and I like how hes still rough around the edges but he is trying his best to change.
He DID change in og FFVII. It's CALLED character development. He's supposed to have room to GROW, not be "trying to change" during your VERY FIRST MEETING.
Also, a person would not have a completely different personality in another timeline. They would be the same person, making perhaps different decisions.
Having them possess an entirely different personality makes no sense, even with the multiple timeline nonsense.

Got to keep in mind that the original art and character models from the original game made Cid look much older than he actually is, and they played up the "old man" tropes to a ridiculous degree. Most folks that never read the manual to additional materials assume he's anywhere between his late 40s to early 60s. Cid's actually only 32.
I'm not really sure what you're expecting him to sound like, and if you think the voice is off, then you really need to take a road trip through the southern US. Plenty of folks in the 30-40 age range sound just like him here.

I think his voice is fine but I do think his character model needs aged up. Yeah I know what the manual says, no I don't give a damn, he looks better older. And besides this is FF. Characters look younger or older than they should all the time, or are we forgetting about Auron? Also smoking. The man smokes. Where's his pack? Don't tell me they're cutting that out for politically correct reasons. I'm not gonna be happy until I can play him lighting dynamite from his lip.
But regardless, I just hope later in the 3rd game we actually get his story and get to see Cid's angry side. He has flaws, a dark side, and the jaded backstory of a broken dream that needs explored. I really do hope they don't ignore that just to make him the happy-go-lucky support, which I'm worried they're doing because if I remember the original, Cid was a lot more... bitter, cynical, and desperate when we first met him.
@@mgh7634 Auron is only presented as 35 in the story or at least whenever he died. The smoking is one thing but their view on age is consistent. The old guys aren't actually that old.
They definitely nailed every character except cid, he was one of my favorites and this is mega disappointing. Ill have to play the whole game to change my mind, but im not digging cid at all here

God they just Hobbited the shit out of this game. Feels good not to have to pay $210 for the complete game and pick it up from sales bin after the final part is out.
