Go to “Vintage Logging Time-lapse” vid. It shows how I got into this mess at the end. Had to run my cable uphill to help me out. Never before was I in such a situation. Ol’ Skidder and I fought our way free
I am absolutely loving these videos. I used to ride behind my father when he drove a Timber Jack in the 1970s in New England. I was only 3! He used to take me to work. I would stand in that little spot behind the driver and watch him pull the levers to steer. Wow and he also hand files his saws TO THIS DAY.
And it probably would have came out if he picked the pusher/plow up in the begining and half the time the tires wherent even spinning I've never seen a slider with a open differential!
I have worked with a TM-114 Scania 6-speed motor, it is a beast in the bush esplanava on average 70 cubic meters of wood per day (10 hours worked) always had the whole tree cut only foot and tip. (Brazil)
When was this video footage shot? That's an old Timber Jack. I had a friend that was also in the logging business years ago. He was a lot older than me and had a bunch of these old Timber Jacks. It seems to me the ones he had were 4 speed manuel, with 4 cylinder 63 series, or maybe 76 series. I can't remember. But I do know even the John Deeres we had back then were a lot different than the ones we use today. How things have changed. I haven't had a cable skidder on the job for years now. Even in the mountains. Is he fouled up on stump? I've had to crawl under several skidders in my life to cut the stump down, because of guys getting them hung on them. Before moving South and mostly cutting plantation pine. I lived up North in the Appalachians, and I've seen about every way imaginable a piece of equipment can get fouled. From over the hill, to on its top. The tree looks like a popular or a white ash. I see what they are now, when I seen the butt, huge popular.
Logged with cable skidders for 28 years, never had this happen. I started piece cutting 1960, in 1968 i bought a new C-4 Treefarmer cable skidder. I logged with two skidders most of the time. We quit logging in 1996, Company's ran all small logger out of business. [ Northern Minn ]
Duane Nelson copy that buddy! Great to hear from ya and yer history. I never had this happen before either. That’s the deal with this logging, everyday there is somethin’ new! Much respect Sir!!👍👍
Yes they call it industrial forestry. This happened all over north America. It's a shame how they destroy our enviroment. There's nothing left growing when there done. If something does try to grow it's best to kill it with herbicides and plant somthing else.. It's hard to understand what is happening in this video. Very confusing. Why was the tj jumping around with the wheels in the air.
Green- Zone Stop your lies tree hugger. The best thing for the forest is to log it. Did you know four times as many trees cut in America every year are planted. I didn’t think so.
Haha I had the same thing happen yesterday with a timberjack 560 one tree between the front wheel and the dozer ram. And the other tree between the back wheel and cab. Had to get the 270 and push them out. And hold onto the blade so I did not roll. Haha good times
@@olskoolloggin9761 soooo...you left it parked in the woods and the trees grew up around it...or is it the enchanted woods...like the wizard of Oz...and the trees attacked you because you kill them...???
Hard to understand what ya got going on here... I run a 97 franklin c7 single arch grapple w/ a winch and not often do I winch... i totally agree it's tough work... but when I do I dont get "hung up" like that. Nice video but could u explain?
James Webber Ya buddy! So I was winching a bunch outta a bowl down below. Tree after tree come up until I wore the bark off, and my arch got perfectly hung up back there. Pulled myself into a mess. Never happened before in all my days! If ya check out “Vintage Logging time-lapse “ vid, you’ll see how it happened!!👍👍
I used to run a clark back in the 70s, it was a screamer! It dropped a valve one day and was the super mad, it was a fresh rebuild, I told him check it out it snapped right by the keeper, nothing anyone could have done to prevent it! When the mechanic got there I told him pull the valve cover and see, he was shocked that I knew about the valves! That was one of the Detroits weak points! I was a diesel mechanic as well, but they didn't know it, I could make more money as a logger than a mechanic in those days!
In the early 80's I worked for a logger in Klamath Falls who had a Timberjack 404 with an ESCO boom and 72-inch ESCO grapple. You could hear that Detroit 4-53 for ten miles away, I swear! It was a tough little bastard, and went like hell on flat ground. A good operator could move a lot of wood with it.
Hi OSL, great to see you working out in the woods. Looked like a great day there! Thanks for setting up the camera angles for the skidder etc. All the best my friend, Shankers

Only way to get 'em sharp without grinding half the cutter away.

Looks more like ol boy , should learn run the dam skidder , wtf was he doing n the beginning ?
No idea but a big chunk of wood under the rear tires would have had him out quick
@puck slapper It seems like u need to have a date with Deez Nutz .
I din't see the tree eating the skider
Looks like you could use some Canadian chains
Looks like some pretty nice popular patch he is n . Just need find himself a good skidder driver.
Excellent demonstration of skill and determination.

Maybe if youd cut SMALLER trees...... But that's no fun....
Chuck Driver tuff to keep after em’ , they grow at night!!😅👍👍
junker that shit !
Desmatadores assassinos.
A set of chains
That poor skidder has some serious traction deficit, to bad they don't make tire chains for those things.
You sure are not doing Timberjack any favors

Austin Denotter Rainforest round here! Tryin to keep after em’!!😅👍👍
I think that skidder and tree were mating.
Nice, but you may want to wrap some iron around you wheels big help for traction and bite.
Are those plow mounts on the blade?
You was HUNG, son and when that cheer came on it about gave me a stroke. I was listening to that 2-cycle. Good job!

Donald Hofman ahh! The game of Loggin’!!👍👍
Donald Hofman Blower drive gears fail on 371 from pulse of motor alot. Always change them along with valves on rebuild.
I worked in an engine rebuild shop years ago. We always put new valves in green grenades for that very reason
