    I have had a lot of experience with doll hair, and I think, as you said, the greasy feel is the texture, not a build-up of chemicals on the strands of hair. I have reversed that feeling (greasy) on a doll. I went back and forth with goo gone, hot water and baby powder to eventually achieve the results I wanted. To be honest, I believe, even though the hair felt and looked much better, what actually happened was a slight bit of damage to change the surface of the hair shaft. I would be fine with how her hair is. At least it's not ratty and tangled! She's very pretty!😊

      Interesting, thanks for sharing that info, and yes, I'd rather this than be a tangled mess!

    Good idea about removing the scalp. You are much gentler than I am when giving a spa. I scrub.

    Hi Tammy. I have two factory dolls that have the same type of texture. Her hair looks very pretty after her many washes, 😂 I do agree with removing the scalp and soaking in dawn dish soap, however I think that the texture just looks like it's greasy. She's super cute!

    • @TammyPowley
      @TammyPowley  Месяц назад +1

      Exactly, I don't think it's actually "grease."

    She is a cute doll. I don't know that I would have the patience to do continuous spas.
    I wonder if some of the older dolls had greasy hair or is this a more 'modern' problem.

    • @TammyPowley
      @TammyPowley  Месяц назад +2

      Good question, of all the older dolls I've ever had, I don't remember any of them being greasy. Now, they can be dry, so there's the other problem.

      @@TammyPowley I also always thought, for the price, they shouldn't be using velcro...personal preference here!
      But I would still buy one...🤔

    I appreciate all of this information Tammy. I have Pleasant Surprise but I have not tried to spa her hair yet. Your results are much improved, I can see a change for the better. Dawn and hot water seems to be the go to remedy for these Blythe ladies. Her hair looks really good now.

    I wonder about using dry shampoo? But you can’t really tell on camera that she is greasy. Maybe they put the extra grease on for protection.

      I was about to comment that it could be easier if you remove the scalp. And yes, Dawn is the only product that I use to remove the greasy hair of my dolls. Although lately I got very nice dolls.
      Gorgeous doll and thank you for the informative video! 👍🏼

      I think some of it just the hair has a weird texture to it, but I don't know of anyone that really knows for sure as to why some of them feel like this and some don't.

    The Good Smile Co. scalp/dome is different from the RBL ones on Ali-Express - any idea how to change it or retrofit the RBL scalp to fit? I still can't figure out why the official dolls have such bad hair compared to the inexpensive Ali-Express dolls. It can't be that difficult 😕

    • @TammyPowley
      @TammyPowley  Месяц назад +1

      I've had another doll with a scalp not fitting, and I was only able to cover it with hair so you can't see the gap. That's one of the problems. You can't always be sure one scalp will fit another doll.
