If you picked flowers and it ever came up loves me not it proves that doesn't work how could anyone not love you Red❤❤❤ We need more of this band 💯💯💯#redheadedneighbor #bestreactor #redsarmy #beautifulfuncountrygirl #35K #heartofgoldwithmetalinhersoul #bestbadjokes #redheadedbarbiedoll
The Tragically Hip opened for Rush in 1991. I remember my friend and three of us went. Unfortunately, he had to sit in another section of the arena because he got his ticket late. That was one great show.
one of the lines in this song is "Hey, man, thanks". When he passed, people posted online about Gord, and most were "Hey, man, thanks" His lyrics had such an impact for Canadians, who could identify with the songs, because a lot og Hip songs were about Canada.
The Hip is and will always be Canadas house band. Check out Cordelia, The Luxury, Ahead by a Century, So Hard Done By and The 100th Meridian...too cool for school
After hearing them live, they mean something different. Hit hard and relevent, lyrics and musicshanship. Big words to say my head bops and I understand that they are great. Love your reaction. Stay safe.🤘
Glad to see you had the lyrics on screen. It's the best way to truly appreciate this awesome music set to Gord's poetry. Bobcaygeon, Ahead By A Century and my personal fav. Wheat Kings (with story and lyrics) Keep up the great reactions
Canadian Rock Royalty. There is probably nobody in Canada over the age of 30 who doesn't have a ton of youthful memories where THE HIP weren't also part of the mix. My favorite HIP song has always been "LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO HAPPEN" for it's NASTY NASTY ..............NAAAASTY GUITAR RIFFAGE. It's a barnburner. R.I.P Gord.
What a great reaction! Gord Downie and The HIP are deeply beloved and missed in Canada in the same way that Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are deeply beloved and missed in America. Please Please Please Red ... more HIP!!
"The Hip", Canada's band! ... fun fact, in Winnipeg, after hurricane Katrina, this song and Led Zeppelin's "when the levee breaks", they were not played on the radio
"Grace, Too" at their last show (Rogers K-Rock Centre in Kingston, Ontario) always makes me cry. Just can't help it. A most unique, sorrowful and beautiful moment.
Great reaction!! The Hip are indeed a Canadian staple! They've been a constant in my life since the early 90's. Their music, but especially their lyrics, are storytelling at it's finest! HIGHLY recommend: Bobcaygeon (my #1 track- it's a small place outside of Kingston, Ontario - it's a slower track, but such a groove), Ahead By A Century, Locked In The Trunk Of A Car, Wheat Kings, Grace Too, Little Bones...and that's just to continue the journey! Cheers from Canada, eh!!
Gords last concert when he had brain cancer was on Canadian Tv....and was so moving!!! on Aug 20 /2016 at Gords hometown of Kingston Ont Canada (Rogers K-Rock Center)
The whole concert was on CBC (Canada’s national broadcaster) it was sent live across the country with no interruptions for advertising, a very large percentage of the Canadian population and a lot of the border states watched a MAN on his last legs of life put on one of the greatest live shows ever.
Pretty much every Rush fan was a Hip fan, although not every Hip fan was a Rush fan. Put another way, the Hip were way, way bigger in Canada than Rush ever was (and this is coming from a guy whose first of around a dozen Rush concerts was in 1984, when I was just 16 years old). Geddy and Alex were Hip fans too. For example, Geddy inducted the Hip into Canada’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. And in 2021, a few years after the passing of the Hip’s lead singer, Gord Downey (from the same cancer that had taken Neil Peart at the beginning of 2020), Alex and Geddy both presented the remaining members of the Hip with a Humanitarian Award, recognizing the Hip’s many charitable endeavours over the years. As an aside, The guys in Rush were quietly known to be big philanthropists as well, although they strove to keep their giving on the QT. PS - Geddy appears in the new Netflix series on the Hip called “No Dress Rehearsal.”
The Hip are an awesome Canadian treasure and worth every second listening to them. My fav is 100th meridian but I am told I like blues too much lol (not possible) and I know who Rye Cooder is. Would love to see you react to that one
The hip are legendary in Canada 🇨🇦. But you should check out - The Jeff Healey Band. They got a few good songs. Lead singer ( rip ) was blind and played his guitar on his lap. Check out -while my guitar gently weeps
GORD DOWNING N THE HIP…. CANADAS VERSION OF JIM MORRISON N THE DOORS. HE GAVE IT ALL LEFT IT ALL ON THE FLOOR. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SOUL, R.I.P. GORD. GREAT REACTIONS BEAUTIFUL, UR SMILE N PASSION FOR GREAT MUSIC, IS INTOXICATING. MORE HIP PLEASE, DOSENT MATTER WHICH… ITS ALL GOOD. ROCK ON 👊🖖
Hello, Pretty Head That Is Red: Yes, we used to do the she loves me thing on those daisies that look like chamomile flowers. With all due respect, the only thing that is tragic about this is that you have not done any Gordon Lightfoot songs yet! Great reaction though and thank you for doing this one.
My work music stream (downloads via app) from Radio Paradise plays this tune a good bit. Pretty good near NOLA sound from folks not from NOLA. I lived in and around NOLA from late 1984 to 2004, Good food, great music, Nice Zoo and Aquarium, and otherwise, I wish it'd sink away. Hate the place.
HPRH: I was thinking of forming a new band and calling ourselves The Festering Stump. After our fans got to know us, they'd prolly just call us, 'The Stump'.
@@Ilikeryche Ha ha, I'm glad you noticed it. I learned this substitute 'word' from the RUclips comments and I love it and use it on purpose especially when I am spouting something totally ridiculous. Thanks for your reply!
Thanks for doing The Hip!!!
Great Canadian Band that never got the Kudos from the US record industry they deserved
True, but there were lots of us down here who really loved the Hip!
Loved that filthy riff!
The Tragically Hip opened for Rush in 1991. I remember my friend and three of us went. Unfortunately, he had to sit in another section of the arena because he got his ticket late. That was one great show.
The Hip is to this day the best live show I ever saw. I saw them at the Misty Moon in Halifax in the spring of '90.
one of the lines in this song is "Hey, man, thanks". When he passed, people posted online about Gord, and most were "Hey, man, thanks"
His lyrics had such an impact for Canadians, who could identify with the songs, because a lot og Hip songs were about Canada.
They did a concert at the Wiarton airport back in 2009 with a few other bands.
Thanks for reaction Miss! Can't fail with these guys. Just a joy.
My fav Hip song for sure followed closely by Bobcaygeon. Very unique song! Hard to believe a Canadian band had so much soul!
Welcome to your new Canadian Rabbit Hole. This band and their lyrics meant so much to so many Canadians.
The Hip is and will always be Canadas house band. Check out Cordelia, The Luxury, Ahead by a Century, So Hard Done By and The 100th Meridian...too cool for school
The "Hip"!!! 🌹
Red seeing as how your doing all these awesome reactions to our beloved Canadian Bands were gonna have to make you an Honorary Canuck...
After hearing them live, they mean something different. Hit hard and relevent, lyrics and musicshanship. Big words to say my head bops and I understand that they are great. Love your reaction. Stay safe.🤘

Goes Downie is just an amazing person and vocalist
What a great reaction! Gord Downie and The HIP are deeply beloved and missed in Canada in the same way that Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are deeply beloved and missed in America. Please Please Please Red ... more HIP!!
Ah, one of my favourite Hip songs! ❤❤❤
The Hip quietly carved out a career! Not as huge as RUSH but they were well loved in Canada!
"The Hip", Canada's band! ... fun fact, in Winnipeg, after hurricane Katrina, this song and Led Zeppelin's "when the levee breaks", they were not played on the radio
Nice reaction! Another wonderful Canadian band 😊. One of my absolute favorites is Twist my Arm. Would love for you to hear it 👍
"Grace, Too" at their last show (Rogers K-Rock Centre in Kingston, Ontario) always makes me cry. Just can't help it. A most unique, sorrowful and beautiful moment.
"Trickle Down" another great early song of thiers... I think thier first hit before this

The world poised by the human mind is great tune
you should listen to their song 38 yrs old and never kissed a girl

From the WNY area, must have seem them a dozen times, each time magical.

Check out the final concert and you will see an amazing performance
Funny you mention southern. That album was recorded in New Orleans
❤

Downie.
Speaking of the video, did anyone notice that the guy drank Mike? That's why he was looking into that jar at the end.
Nice to see you do The Hip, Canadas little secret, we gave Rush to the world but kept The Hip to ourself. 😊
She reacted to Nautical Disaster too.

Reverand Hortin Heat "Do it one time for me" or "let me teach you eat." Hardcore Rock a Billy out of Dallas.
I miss Gord every day.

Fiddlers Green, please react to it. Itsa song about Gords nephew that passes at a young age.
HPRH: I was thinking of forming a new band and calling ourselves The Festering Stump. After our fans got to know us, they'd prolly just call us, 'The Stump'.
"Prolly", is that a word?
@@Ilikeryche Ha ha, I'm glad you noticed it. I learned this substitute 'word' from the RUclips comments and I love it and use it on purpose especially when I am spouting something totally ridiculous. Thanks for your reply!
Some might also note that in this song Gord is saying God is a woman and I don't disagree.
It's a good song but, being a New Orleanian, I find it a little depressing.😐
I can see how you would feel that way
It 's crazy this song came out 16-17 years before Katrina hit New Orleans....
It was also banned from many radio stations when Katrina hit
