I saw something online about the phrase “if they wanted to they would” and how sometimes it doesn’t apply because people may be depressed or going through something themselves where they don’t have energy to give and that’s not a bad thing. Also not every friend has to be someone you talk to everyday & is on a deep level. It’s ok to just have friends who you share one common interest with, or a friend who you just see once in a while when you go to their city or something.

I know I’m late to this convo but I totally agree with Mark. It takes two, a friendship can’t be just one way. I have cut out quite a few friends lately , I’m 49 now and I feel like the older I get the more I cannot be arsed with people who arnt there for me especially when I need someone. Some people are only there when times are good, so obviously arnt proper friends!!
