One of my best and easiest side hustles was a pet sitter. I was living in a smallish city of 350 000 people. The one and only kennel closed, so people had few economical options to place their pets when went on vacation (and weren't able to bring their pets with them). My beloved kitty had died and I wasn't in a situation to get a new one. To make a long story short, placed an add on Kijiji offering my services as an at-home cat sitting service. I got to keep people's cats in my apartment (usually one at a time) and charged 10$ a day for this, plus they supplied their food/litter. It was great because I got to take care of people's cats in my home. It wasn't hugely lucrative (300$/month at best) but I got a "free" cat that kept me company for very little effort. The owners were also happy that their cat or cats were not alone. It paid for groceries at the time (this was 10 years ago and I lived in one of the cheapest cities in Canada).
My best side hustle was washing windows ( all ground floors). First day I made enough to pay my monthly rent and utilities. Only cost $20 in materials to start.
There is no doubt this lady is going to become a millionaire!! She hustles!!!
I've never had any side hustles, but I've been a dish washer, bus boy, butcher, fishmonger, prep chef, line chef, carpenter's apprentice, CNA, beer truck driver, cement truck driver, bus driver, stock room clerk, door to door saleman, janitor, electrician's apprentice, landscapper, security guard, and a guardsman.
You are certainly a well rounded individual. Keep hustling.
I don't know if it counts but I knit bears. I could sale them for $25. $30 each but I give them to foster kids. I make 2 a day, 10 a week. Yarn went up in price like everything else, but the supply is about $3.00 each. If I run into money troubles, I intend to sale the beaus especially around Christmas. Overall, I give it a 9.5
When I was downsizing I sold a ton on Facebook marketplace and yard sales. I have to say now that I absolutely hate selling. I was not made to be a seller. 😂 I’d rather give it all away than to negotiate and deal with a lot of people. I found it to be so stressful. Now I just donated anything I don’t want. But I admire people that can do this well and enjoy it. You are awesome 😎 I love your ideas. Keep up the good work. I appreciate you and your insights.

These days I feel the same way. When I sold things on Craigslist around 2007-2012 it was very different to facebook marketplace (for example), no one had my actual name and details or even in most cases my phone number for texts and such. I just communicated with them via email and met up at a busy supermarket parking lot for transactions. I wasn't struggling financially in those days and I'm not "rich" now...but I definitely needed extra cash more than I do now. My priorities have changed and I'm much happier donating most things. For me now an item would need to be minimum $200-300 for me to consider selling online. I also stopped doing garage sales, which are popular in my area. I have a garage and some of my friends do not and have suggested we have a big sale at my house. I simply laugh. It's not gonna happen!
It's tough when you know some one is low balling just have to be firm and keep the item if it means that much to you. Becomes much easier for stuff that you're thinking WOW you're giving me THAT for this!? So it goes both ways. I like to pay up when I'm buying a vehicle because I hate being low balled and talked down. But when it comes to stuff I can do without sometimes ill shoot a percentage off usually not a high percentage because if I don't have the money for it I'm not trying to buy it anyways. Thing I hate dealing with the most is sellers who won't say 'I have some one else on the hook for this, I'll let you know if they don't get it.' That's literally all I would hope they would say but most people are complete A holes and string you along then sell to some one else when you're on the way there or worse.
Same. I tried selling like since I was 10 or so. But I never liked it. At times I give away an item off which I could easily make $50 but I find it onerous to take pictures, write description, answer questions. Etc. Plus if it doesn't sell in like a week I feel a little impatient.😂
I feel the same. I have a box of kids clothes sitting in the basement. I know I can make money off of them, but I dread selling them!

My father is retired and he help my sister with flipping items from marketplace. My sister would check out the marketplace and bring the item to my father to renew. One example is faded chandelier in need of polishing. Get a nice picture of it in a bright sunny room and my sister would relist it in the marketplace at higher price.
My father also grow things in the backyard. Most of it is to eat and canning/pickling, but any extras are traded with my extended family members. We'll trade crops like bok choy, spinach and fuzzy melons. There's a lot of seed trading too. Seeds from a plant that grew in your local area for multiple years will result in healthy strong plants, resilient to your local habitat.
Depending on local laws, selling the canned goods might be an option for dealing with excess
I've had T1 diabetes for almost 4 decades. I've done tons of focus groups on T1. I live in a high altitude town, so companies that make blood test meters wanted to test them at altitude. They gave us supplies for these new meters, and supplies for whatever meter you already used. All you had to do was test the same drop of blood on both their meter and your meter, and record all the results. Not only did I make about $350 for about a month of doing daily blood tests that I already did anyway, but I got free supplies for my own meter which saved me money. Well worth it!

I have an Etsy shop as a side hustle where I sell crochet patterns as digital downloads. There's definitely a lot of work dreaming up a project, trying to make it (version 1), adjusting the process to improve the end result (version 2), creating it yet again while writing out the pattern steps and taking photos (version 3). But once it's created and uploaded to my Etsy shop, I can sell that one pattern to countless people forever. Only thing is that you never quite know how well a particular crochet project will go over with people. Some of the ones I like best haven't performed like I would have liked. Others, that I don't think are my best, to the point I didn't think hardly anyone would want to learn how to do it, have done pretty well. You just never know. Another thing is that each pattern I sell isn't for a lot of money. So this side hustle is a trickle of income rather than a stream. But it's fun, if sometimes frustrating.
How do you deal with thieves? I’ve had someone stole a large chunk of my work. At that point I just wanted to give up. (I’m feeling much better now.) The risk with selling digital products is people with no respect to copyright and intellectual property.
@@molamolalaaa2968 the digital downloads I sell can only be downloaded and printed once to each customer. Sure, someone could then photocopy it, I suppose. But that's true of almost anything. For the most part, people wanting to crochet their own gloves or make a pair for a family member are not downloading my patterns in order to turn around and resell the pattern to someone else. They may make several pairs of gloves and sell them at a craft show, I suppose, but they would be limited in how many pairs they could whip up. The cost of the materials (yarn) and the time it takes to make a pair of gloves, wouldn't make it worth selling in large numbers. What they could charge for a finished pair of gloves would cover the cost of the materials (yarn), but not the time it takes to make them. So for small, handmade items, it makes sense to me -- better sense, actually -- to sell patterns, than to sell physical products. People who buy my patterns do so because they love to crochet and think it's cool (I guess) to be able to make something for themselves and their loved ones.
I worked a full time job on the graveyard shift for 38 years during that time i had a janitorial business for 30 of those years
I'm considering going back to night shift (eventually 12 hr shifts 3 days a week). The other 4 is for weekly "small elder veggie box" grow/delivery.

My number one side hustle is doing part time food delivery on my bike in nyc with grubhub, door dash, ubereat along with my 6 figures IT support job. I give it 10/10
My best side hustle ever was tutoring calculus and statistics. Lots of non-STEM people have to take stats, Public Health and Business for example. They dread it so they put it off until their final year, then they panic when they're bombing. You can charge VERY well. When I lost my fulltime job, I decided to finish my novel before looking for another, and tutoring paid well enough to let me work 15hrs a week for those months.
I've tutored calc and higher math as well as physics for more than 20 years also to STEM majors. It died out after COVID (students learned they could easily cheat on online classes). One side benefit: it keeps the higher math fresh in your mind!

The credit card thing usually gives you a time limit which makes it hard to spend on just your needs like groceries gas etc

I have a mango tree in my backyard that gives way more mangoes than i can eat and give away
So i sold them by batches of 10 for $20 on facebook marketplace
One day after a very windy night i had 30 and a lady came and bought them all!
Had a few repeat customers but the tree gives for only about 2-3 weeks but i sold about 100 mangoes. Made $200
And i did eat some and give some to friends and relatives
You can line up credit card deals for when you know you'll be spending a large amount in a short time. For example, you could wait until you're paying for a vacation, a new car, or a new computer. Make sure your target purchases qualify under the deal you pick.
Most cards will give you something like 3 months to spend 2K, which is rather easy for me because I put everything on my credit card and pay it off at the end of the month. Instead of using my Discover Card, I use the new one temporarily.
Yes beautifull that is exactly what I do for the past 15 years as a hobby & was very surprised to hear it from you - I am about cuttings - I grow rare superhot peppers such as Habanero, Trinidad Scorpions, Nagas etc but I sell everything seeds, 1month seedlings, 3-4month grown ups, peppers and of course cuttings, but I stress to all - you must love what you do, love growing plants, if filling cups with soil for a few hours in the morning is not your thing don't bother 😂

My best side hustle? Dumpster diving. Haven't bought groceries in almost 3 years, and lots of free stuff to flip or scrap. Easiness 9, Profitability 8, Scalability 4, Fun 9.
Most people prefer not to get their meals from a dumpster. But good for you if that is your thing. 👍

1. Generally speaking, people confuse "sell by" and "best by" dates for expiration dates. They're not. USDA publishes good info on this, and FEMA actually has useful guidelines for recovering and sanitizing food during natural disasters that apply (e.g. soak cans in 10% bleach solution for 10 minutes, spray cellophane with isopropyl alcohol, etc.).
2. At most grocery stores, if there's one apple or potato or whatever in a bag that goes bad or gets bruised, they toss the whole bag. Or, you know, the whole pallet of watermelons because one got busted and they're sticky.
3. At chain stores especially, if products are damaged during shipping, they're covered by the trucking company's insurance. So if, say, there's a leaky bottle of laundry detergent, or a busted jar of olives in a case of say, 12, they toss all 12, even though the sell by date is in some cases years down the road.
4. Many stores simply toss their returns, or online orders that aren't picked up. Many companies/contractors intentionally order more than they need for a project and toss the excess when it's done.
I've been a certified fitness instructor for 26 years. it's a great side hustle because I get paid to exercise, stay fit and feel better about myself. It's been great!

Only ones I've done are side jobs as an electrician, any trade that has residential work can do this. Advertise your services online and handle the business end yourself and you can scale it to whatever level you want. People often don't want to pay full price for a company to come in and do it, and if you're working alone, you can often undercut them. I've known guys who are good and their services spread through word of mouth fast and they have more business than they can handle. You do have to work with the customer directly so it may not be for everyone but you sure can make a living if you want to.
I also delivered newspapers twice a week until I was 18, not sure if that's a viable one anymore but it was decent for pocket money when I was young.

I think one of the best applications of youtube is to be able to document what used to be called "stupid human tricks". There does not seem to be a shortage of those people, both in civilian and governmental circles.
When eBay came out I started selling and buying on there. It picked me up some fun money. Now that I’m retired I now have more time to devote to buying and selling.
I sell stuff for friends and family and give them,the profits, but mostly my own items. But the best part is feedback that the item was something their mother or grandfather had and they never thought they would find one. Plus I make custom and restore items to sell.

I've done a number of the years too. Flipping for sure, I mowed lawns, and one point I baked cakes, i did graphic design as a kid and now i do print service as my company and often have to design things for people, so that grew to a full business. Ive delivered papers/flyers. I reviewed product like tested it and then gave the manufacturer feedback about it, wrote a few articles for them, i helped a friend with her business and helped with sign/vinyl installation. Ive done pet sitting for weeks or a month at a time. My latest is in my shop is I'm designing and selling vinyl decal stickers that i print and cut. I do it in my spare time, when it's quiet, and it only brings a few bucks a week, like $10-20, from about 6 deisgns out, but meh, it's fun, and they seem to do ok. I only sell them for $2.50 ea. I tried to do the focus groups but got rejected. My other friend seems to get picked often enough. She also does pet sitting and runs and antiques booth on weekends, otherwise she is a par time tracher.
Im considering the plants because each year my Yucca, hostas, and succulants go crazy and repop so its just money in the ground.
There are so many opportunities to do side hustles.
One i thought would do decent. Photogrpahy lessons on cruise ships. I went on a trip and was amazed to find, at the time, so many people got expensive dslr cameras for the trip andnhad no idea how to use them. You could probably offer the classes either before the cruises and target those demographics.
My favorite side hustle of all time has to be donating plasma. I don't know if it's the same in other countries but in the us you can get paid a ton to sit in a chair and watch TV for an hour while a machine takes your blood from your arm, removes the plasma and puts it back. Easiest money ever in my opinion
For us gardeners, plant sales off propagation of rare plants. There is some cost (soil, water, buying the mother plant) and time. Sell on craigslist. I don’t do Facebook, or any social media whatsoever (except RUclips).
I have a beautiful rope Hoya that I should do this with. I last saw tiny ones selling for $30 at the nursery. Mine is so long that I have to wrap it around it’s pot!
I’m an extreme couponer. I get hundred of dollars of products for free or make money on it. I sell a lot through my parents party store and make a few hundred dollars a month and get all personal care, laundry care and a lot of food for free
A long time ago (back in the 1980s) I did teaching accounting software during weekends for a private institution and also giving tuition to school kids. But the most enjoyable and lucrative in the 90s was writing for an online portal about touristy places in north Malaysia. I get to travel and get paid at the same time 😁.

The last four years I have been scoring tests for a company from April through June. It works great for me because I can do it at home at night, weekends around my full time job. I make $17-$22/hr and make about $2k. That's helpful to a single income. You do have to have a Bachelor's Degree to do it. Now trying to grow my YT channel. Thanks for all the info Nicole!

A good friend of mine told me how to make money on estate sales what you do is you’ll look for an estate sale that’s selling a lot of sea artwork everybody shows up for the artwork but a lot of times they will be like one antique little end table that’s worth like five grand but they’re selling it for like 200 bucks so you can get that one thing real cheap and flip it quick. My friend The told me this he owned an insurance company on Wall Street so he knew a lot about business. His father was also an antique dealer.

There was a great version of credit card churning a friend of mine did years ago, when they’d offer 0% interest on anything INCLUDING CASH ADVANCES for the first +/- 12 months. Get the card, draw out as much cash as they’d allow, then put the money in high-yield savings. At the end of the introductory offer, just yank the money out of savings and pay off the card.
Not gigantic money exactly but it’s a 4% yield spread or whatever you’re earning in savings, and it’s about five minutes of work per month! Unfortunately I don’t think there’s a lot of those true zero percent offers around anymore

I buy and sell a lot on FB and make good profit, especially when it's something thrown out that's perfectly good. I just can't stand dealing with the 90 % of responders who ask stupid questions that can be answered by reading the ad or questions that don't matter or they just ghost you. Oh yeah, not to mention the endless, pathetically obvious scams.

They used to do focus groups in the mall. They didn't pay that well, but sometimes you got some free products for sitting down and answering a few questions. I think they stopped working out of malls shortly after I discovered them.
I've been doing online arbitrage for almost 10 years now. It's been my most favorite side hustle I've done. I don't consider it work as I actually have fun doing this. Online arbitrage has allowed me to own nicer things for the home for either almost nothing or I made money from the items I own (ex: constantly buying the same item dirt cheap and reselling online for more.)

I do a lot of online focus groups and market research. It pays pretty well for the time and effort that's involved and I really enjoy seeing other human faces because I am a self employed business of one and work from home. I've never seen any that pay what you got, but we are now post pandemic and I'm in the UK. Still worth it though. :)
I'm trying furniture flipping myself. First two furniture's I flip i did no work on them. I just bought them from a garage sale cheap and sold them more than what I bought it for. I'm currently trying to sell my 3rd furniture. The 3rd one I found abandoned, decided to take it home fix it up and paint it. Not selling as fast as I hoped which is a bummer. I do have a RUclips channel which is similar to yours. It's basically a Finacial channel. Did like the video. Even though I didn't pay anything for the 3rd furniture it's probably still going to be a lost after buys the sander, paint, wooder fillers and the brushes. Of course, I can reuse it all if I decide to do another project. I live in a small apartment, so it was a hassle trying to find space to paint.
Focus groups are weird. When I canceled cable I ended up in front of a one way mirror explaining why for $250, but that was nowhere near as lucrative as when I had "IT" in my job title and had companies throwing themselves at me to discuss why I didn't buy their products... though the free Diet Pepsi in the mail made focus groups more fun.
I sell vintage housewares and kitchen stuff on Etsy. It’s more of a part time job. I have been doing some version of this since college when I started selling clothing on eBay. Back then you had to learn HTML to make a listing and invest in a digital camera because there were really no phones with cameras built in! It was also a lot easier to sell because less people did this due to the initial costs and having to learn more than you do now.
I was asked to do a “side hustle” as the “Director of the Advance General Practice Residency” program at a major trauma hospital in Oakland, California (one time the city was named the murder capital of the USA). I weighed the pros and cons of teaching new doctors in a trauma center versus working in a large healthcare company making a lot of money (“money talks and bullshit walks”). I chose to work at the health insurance company because I don’t like to teach despite my post graduate degrees (BA, MD, MS, MPA). I couldn’t be happier because my gross income for 2023 was over $700,000.00!!! Laughing all the way to the bank!!! Life is good.

You know, she is from Canada and not from Germany (where i live) is because she didn't talked about taxes. If you would do anything of that in Germany, you would be paying half of your income as tax at some point lol
Technically, it is illegal if she doesn't report it on her income tax, but it's hard to prove, and generally, the government doesn't care enough to go after.

I haven't even heard of a focus group before this. Could be because I live in a pretty small city
I've been doing focus groups in my area for many years. The firm I use the most has gone from paying cash to a prepaid credit card to a prepaid digital credit card that is sent to you minutes after your focus group concludes. If you read the fine print, you can sometimes convert your digital CC to cash that will be deposited to your bank account for a small fee. That is my personal preference, your mileage may vary.
I've also noticed a positive change in the way I'm paid by research companies. I think they have started to realize participants expect a quicker payout. A decade ago it was so common to wait 10 weeks to receive a check in the mail LOL now it's usually instant or at most 10 days later to receive an e-reward.

Mock jury, all online, pd via PayPal. Similar to credit card bonus but with no credit score damage, open checking and savings accounts for bonus. Terms vary; maybe need direct deposit for set number of months or need certain account balance for set number of months. Clinical trials - especially in stage 3 - can last a few years -- GREAT money.

I would get box lots from an Auction which I sold what I never wanted on Marketplace but the last year or two have turned into a disaster with the wrong people in this area.
I used to do focus groups many many years ago. They even had ones that served you lunch. I don’t think I ever made more than $40 or $50 but this was a good 20 years ago. I think the last one was BuzzFeed when it was starting up. Even if they still have them around here which I don’t know if they do they’re very demographic based and I’ve aged out of the demographic now. I used to do online surveys also.

The $ per hour can be pretty low after accounting for car expenses and whatnot. But if it works for you, do it!

Did you do some of these hustles for a cash income? I know that's not an option for some that involves employment with companies paying and the credit cards normally send tax forms which account for the "bonus" $ as earned interest. Either way there are positives/negatives.
I found a really cool 1970s bike, not in mint condition but not horrible either. I'm trying to sell it. 1.00 would be a profit but I'm going a bit higher, nothing outrageous though either

I have a monetized YT channel and starting a second one once I retire. I also consult for two businesses that call me when they need technical information. I charge them $50 a phone call or text per issue. If it runs over 5 minutes it jumps to $100. Their costs go up as I do more research for them. My channel and consult are what I did all my professional life so its a 9/10 on easy for me.
There's just something about selling something to someone who isn't going to get use out of the item and is instead going to sell it forward for profit....really rubs me the wrong way. That's why I'm wary of who I'm selling to now
