Just a tip: Spraying your frames with sugar water is not really a great idea because bees hate wet areas to walk on. The best thing you could do it place one drop of lemongrass oil into the back of the hive and let it bee.
I'm a bit curious how long you've been able to get those cardboard style boxes to last? I get that you wouldn't want to do them too long like that, but there's something fascinating about trying to save a buck. I also wanted to ask if there's a heavy duty type spray bottle type similar to what you are using? Something that won't break fast? I know there's lots of them in the market but most break down pretty fast, and are sort of cheap plastic that won't endure well. So I've not been able to get them to last. Maybe someone knows which ones last better?
Most bees in North America are from bees imported from the old world and have been selected to be gentle. Look up: University of Guelph Honey Bee Research Centre On RUclips
No cut comb, easier to keep hive beetles in, harder to treat, wax moth adore them. Can't harvest wax without a huge hassle, some bees just don't like them, and they don't spin out as easily. But; they don't fall apart and need repairing at the worst possible times either.

I really enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
I have a brand new hive without any drawn honey or wax. Will the bees stay once i put them inside?
Yes. Entice them to draw out comb by spraying sugar water on the frames
Easy with the smoke
Outstanding
What feeder is that? I have seen round ones but not rectangle ones like that.
Top box feeder is what I know it as

No one said they were trying to save a buck those boxes are mostly for transport but mine have lasted 5 years. I keep them inside tho
@@4dhoneybee107 Thanks.
Nonprobs.
As for the spray bottles look up your local industrial cleaning supplier they have the good ones.
Hi. Is the inner cover not supposed to be flipped? The vent hole on top.
BINGO! took me a year to figure that out!
4dhoneybee hi. I don’t have my bees yet. Was actually asking as i’m trying to learn as much as possible. Thanks
Good stuff
The color of the box is why 1 was more active.
Good point
The brown box will have warmed up more than the white one....simples :D
Yup
The less active nuc is White, reflecting heat. The brown nuc absorbs more heat. Enough evidently to make the bees in the brown nuc more active
Could bee
Who called the fire brigade.
Hehe didn't even realize while filming
Cool video, trying to learn as much as I can, and find a mentor to help me with bees
Great resource. RUclips that is. Try to find someone that can actually visit your hives with you as a mentor.
@@4dhoneybee107 working on finding someone to help and mentor
Good luck.
Where are you located? I’m in Hamilton Ontario
Hi Corinne I am In Markham.
Peterborough here we are getting nuc’s this season
i am in kenya and here bees seem to be violent. i wonder why your bees dont sting
They may be hungry - I saw that in a video when I was learning about bees.
Well africa is where the killer bees originated.
I dont know but I am not complaining!

No idea why lol...... hmmmmm the dark box.... heat....
Thanks Walter.
What kind of bees did you get
Good question don't really know the background or the lineage other than the fact that the nuc was local....
Where did you get your bees from? I am in Oshawa and got them from Dancing Bee in Port Hope. Got them a week ago. Very exciting adventure!
Excellent congrats. I get all my stuff from innisfil creek
Way too much smoke and you're leaving the nuc open for robbers to infiltrate.🤔😒
White vs brown
True, brown absorbs sun's radiation better
Just when they wanted to stop smoking .
They shoulda used the patch!
I would use a plastic foundation frame because they are alot more stronger
good idea
+alpha XD will do that next.

Yes I much prefer plastic
The smoker was out! He was flogging a dead horse!
Bahaha dead horse!
That was agonizing to watch. You could have installed 10 nucs in that time, without smoke. My head is going to explode.
Scott have a rum. Wound up tight my friend.
This for beginners dude go have a few beers.
@@4dhoneybee107 I don't drink
No need for smoke or sugar water
Nice!
Why are you killing the bees by sqwashing them in the frames as you did not see that
That’s why I got bees to squish them.
