Hey man .. I just wanted to get any insight from a brit who is in the markets with a personally funded portfolio... I am a lifelong nyc resident but was born in England, moving to nyc as a toddler ... I recently relocated to SE England with my wife who has family here and have noticed the regulations/legislation/taxation around the markets .. (and even taxes in general) are much more stringent and prohibitive versus the US. Are you using off shore brokers and accounts as related to transacting with portfolio etc? Capital gains tax structure is so harsh, even when I was looking at real estate investments.. no 1031 law allowing capital gains to be deffered by offesting and putting the same $ amount into another realty transaction in same tax year ... stuff like that makes a huge difference .. just seems like upward class mobility is so much harder here than in the US .. I know a handful of guys who grew up with me .. ex a Puerto Rican brother who grew up in the gutters of bk nyc with me ... built a 250k net profitable llc doing landscaping, patio and driveway paving, etc .. from one old pick up truck and 1 push lawn mower ... and 10 years of hard ass work
