Your little rant is certainty justified. You are speaking of the experience that millions of people are going through lately. Be well and take care of yourself. ❤
Hang in there! The struggle is real. I work in a completely different industry, but I relate to it being such a challenege to stay healthy, stay financially stable and not go crazy from working too much. I think a lot of people are really struggling with that now, so you're not alone.
I totally get what you are saying with being a single gal. Going to work (not working a ton) being a hermit at home, being financially stable, balancing your mental health, health, staying hydrated, eating right, making time for friends and family, getting enough sleep.
Hi Vera! I am not intending to be contrary. Cost of living today is just as hard on men too. The difference is that society just expects men to suck it up and take it. 3 and 4 years ago you did have a better balance in your lifestyle, but since the economy went south, beginning in 2021 everyone needs to work more just to survive. It also doesn't help that you live in one of the most expensive cities in the USA. My absolute best job was when I lived on a mountain top operating a forest fire lookout tower. It was physically demanding at times, but the pace was relaxed yet fulfilling.
Hello! I agree it’s hard for everyone but I’m going to have to disagree that it’s “just as hard” for men sorry! Especially when there’s still a wage gap and women still have to show up to work even if they have debilitating cramps and get penalized if they don’t. So yeah it’s definitely different for us!
I think your struggle and message resonates with many people regardless of profession, hang in there ❤ also, the fact that you are aware is empowering, many people continue the cycle without knowing what the root causes are.
I'm a second year main line/commercial flight attendent also and I've found that frozen meals (that I have cooked and preped one day a month) helps me out alot and also frozen veggies. Then I just pack regular raw fruit. But having alot of pre preped frozen grab and go things has been so nice to have in my bag and then I don't have to worry to much about icing my bag either. SO like i've made breakfast burritos, sweet potatos, (cans of chicken), quesadillas, pastas, meatloaf, casseroles etc. I divide them into baggies (to cook with coffee pot) or tinfoil depending on the food. Also a financial advisor might be worth it. It's been a great experience for me.
Hello! Frozen food sounds great o just have no guaranteed way of heating them up. We aren’t allowed to heat ours up in the coffee pits for cross contamination reasons and we don’t always have microwave access at our hotels. Packing food isn’t an issue for me though, thankfully after 9 years I’ve finally gotten the hang of what works for me and I try to bid layovers for the most part where I can go grocery shopping. Aruba is an exception. Financial advisor sounds great! Just not looking to spend more money. It’s not really a matter of not knowing what to do with it more so just making ends meet living in one of the most expensive cities in the US and not working to burnout.
@@BalancedFlyer no I’m being serious plus then you can make anywhere you’re needed a home base - seems more like Air Force living but you’re single and could save money for settling down later in life ! I’m more of a nomad spirit myself
Vera, You are not alone in trying to figure life balance. I work, take care of my Dad and others. In the last year, my health has taken a decline. I am not working to put myself together and schedule time for myself. Take care of and be kind to yourself.
My daughter is in her twenties and lives in Boston and it’s so expensive and she has school loans. This society is just so fractured right now ppl are online but don’t have real communities anymore or extended families it’s really sad. Hang in there!
Preach Vera, single girl in California and feel the same exact way. The last time I had a "third spot" was um....I dont even know. Right there with you! Protect your peace!
Dear Vera, I hope your health has gotten better, please take care of yourself ❤ Yes, in Europe, especially in Italy we do have spots where people will meet and hang out. We call them “aperitif time”: after work we meet with friends and\or colleagues and we hang out having some appetizers and drinks. We can have dinner as well or we can go back home before dinner. Italian lifestyle is based on hanging out together and meeting in bars or restaurants or malls or parks. You will always be very welcomed in Italy sweet Vera❤
I completely agree...it is hard to maintain everything alone. You are very relatable to me. I am struggling with my work and life balance and maintain my health appointments. But you got this and it will get better ❤ thank you for sharing 😊
Hello young lady, the Ying and Yang to achieve balance is one of those elusive things in life but if you can come close to attaining it, you are miles and miles ahead of most people in this world!!! Sorry to sound so philosophical but please keep trying to find that balance!🤔 Stay safe and stay awesome!!! 👍✌🤠✈
Take Care, get well. I hated having roomates in college. I love living alone where I have peace. I go to the coffee shop to read and see people, but not talk to them. Sounds confusing but l like it. Don't work to hard. I worked hard when I worked the deep night shift, so my health decrease because I had trouble sleeping during the day. Retired, I volunteer once a week at two schools being a reading tutor for children which is a much easier schedule where I socialize once a week.
The 3rd spot.....like the "aperitivo" in Italy where Italians gather in the evening at bars for the aperitivo, to have a drink, socialize and eat appetizers.

Bravo for keeping on top of your health. Eight years ago I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. Initially the first endocrinologist I saw diagnosed me with hypothyroidism, I didn't feel comfortable with that doctor or diagnosis, the symptoms I was experiencing did not match hypothyroidism. I have never gone for a second opinion but am so glad I did, that is when I was diagnosed with Graves which is an autoimmune disease which affects the thyroid. I also hate going to the doctor but please stick with it, getting the correct diagnosis can take many visits and tests. Thank you for sharing with us and thank you for a 28 minute vlog! I always look forward to your trips, tips and healthy eating ideas. Lastly, your long walks always inspire me to get off my butt and keep moving.
Wow I’m glad you got it figured out! We always know when something isn’t right instinctually with our body or even a diagnosis sometimes. Second opinions are important.
I’ve been feeling the same recently… Maybe you could can do more day trips and maybe 1 or 2 layover trips a month and then just vlog more at home or when you travel? Or maybe try to put all your trips on specific days? Like Monday-Wednesday. That way at least you have specific days you work so that’s some consistency.

I'm a retired flight attendant. I'm not sure what time of the day you're taking your magnesium, but I found it was best to take it at night. It has a calming effect that over the course of time...taking it during the day made me have a little less energy. Worked great for sleep, though. Just a thought. You're vlog name says it all...this job is definitely a balancing act with working different hours than most, longer days and late nights, trying to eat healthy when healthy choices may not be available and forcing yourself not to crash when you come back home after 3 days. Still, it's the flexibility of the job that's so attractive. I know that doesn't make sense after everything I just said, sounds like an oxymoron, but I'm sure you know what I mean. I've been retired for 12 years and I still miss it and I loved living alone.
You should look into what type of magnesium you were taking! There are different types of magnesium that are good for different things not all are calming, some are good for energy actually and some are good for focuses and cognitive function. Magnesium Glycinate is the best for sleep and calming effects.
