    Good lesson and perfect demonstration of what you're trying to explain. And then with the added comedy relief from Bailey... Perfect.

    man now I get why intentional quiet scenes in movies are suspenseful! since they used room tone throughout the scenes but didn't for 1 scene to elevate tension. smart

    Really cool to hear just how effective it is. If she had coughed while you were talking, and you decided to fix it with ADR, Would you use that room tone behind your ADR recording?

    • @randyrektor
      @randyrektor  3 года назад +1

      Thanks man! Oooo solid question. I guess depending on how it was recorded with ADR. If I used the exact same mic setup, I suppose I wouldn't need to add room tone, but if it was done in a different room/day/time/setup, then it may help smooth things out and keep the listener in the 'same space'.

    Isn't there a tool/function that interpolates, adding the room tone automatically into the gap?

    • @randyrektor
      @randyrektor  2 года назад

      That’s interesting! I’m not sure of a tool that does that, but you’re probably onto something! :)

    Why do you need to record it separately? Isn't there a second or so of room tone before and after each take?

    • @randyrektor
      @randyrektor  2 года назад

      Yea there’s usually enough at the beginning and end to pick from. On a film set, it’s usually always recorded separately so they have a good 60-90 seconds to choose from. It requires the whole cast and company to be silent, and sometimes that’s not easy lol!

    Mad at gas car? Hahaha. (English is not my mother tongue, obviously. So I'm not sure if I understood the joke right) And this room tone thing was interesting. Thanks for all the good contents :)
    (Btw, could you speak just a little bit slower? It'll help non-native English speakers like me understand you much better.)

      Madagascar = mad at gas car 😂 Thanks for watching and for the feedback. I do speak way too fast. Out of curiosity, would subtitles be useful?

    • @spicycurry1190
      @spicycurry1190 3 года назад

      @@randyrektor Yes, it'll be useful. In fact, I think your videos already have captions, right? That's how I get help when I don't understand something.
      Subtitles will definitely help me more but I'm afraid it'll be a hassle for you to make it.
      But yeah. Even when it comes to Korean (my mother tongue) contents, I prefer watching videos with subtitles. :D
