I've never seen Shoah in its entirety, but the clips I've seen, including the barber, are truly extraordinary. It's nothing less than the record of a great historical human tragedy.
I saw it a few years ago(today is 10/5/23, it was like 4 years ago.) It gets dull at times, but it's still a masterpiece. I got rid of my old Criterion DVD a while back, but I want to get a new one for Christmas. Please see it, everyone who can, should.
In 1501 there were no clear cut good guys and bad guys, everything and everyone was a mess, out for themselves, just trying to stay alive. Is was gritty and brutal back then. Flesh and Blood is not a happy fantasy film, but a realistic depiction of what life was most probably like back then, which is why I love it! Also has a great score, and Jennifer Jason Leigh was my first crush in this film ;)
Tiger, agreed. I don't know what these two critics are talking about. Flesh and Blood rocks! bonus truth. I've got good news. God is good because He gives His blessings to everyone, good or bad. but everyone has at least, told a lie, or stolen something in their life. and that makes them sinners, and God cannot stand one iota of sin in His presence, because He is holy. so God has to punish the sinners in hell, because God is just. but God is also love and He made a way for some to be saved from His wrath. here are the steps: 1. admit that you're a sinner and are lost. 2. realize that the penalty of sin is death (hell). 3. believe that Jesus died on the cross, was buried, then rose from the grave. 4. trust Christ alone as your Savior, and not on your own good deeds to get you to heaven. bonus truth video. ruclips.net/video/5LK2KgEFeQc/видео.html

You wrote Fresh + Blood; should be Flesh + Blood. Anyway, Flesh + Blood was a great -- but very graphic and not for those who dislike gore -- early Paul Verhoeven film that comes two before his classic, Robocop.
For two “expert” movie critics who I miss quite a bit sometimes they really don’t understand Verhoeven’s work at all.
