She appears to be so much the typical Canadian mother of her era; kind, thoughtful and the centre of her family. Jimmie, you captured her perfectly. I never met her, but I feel as if I've known her all my life.
I had the good fortune to attend a live concert of Hanks in New Zealand. I grew up in Australia listening to hanks 78! on a wind up gramophone. It was an amazing concert and Hank is truly an amazing peformer. His guitar playlist is just unique and beautiful. I believe the gift of Hank Snow to the world is priceless. His music polishes the lens of ones soul.
So great. i visited Liverpool N. S. , because my family lived there, before coming to the states. (The Niles). I was so excited, when I came across the Hank Snow museum and found that he also hailed from Liverpool. Not only a great singer but such a fine guitarist as well. Willie should pay royalties!
I wonder if that home movie is shot in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia... I've driven all over the community looking for those houses but alot has changed in 60 years.
What a Great video of Minnie Snow,Hank and son Jimmy. You cant imagine how much I Love this video. Thanks to whoever uploaded this TREASURE.Keith Kimmey Sr,The Ct Ranger
Hi Jimmy ...just finished listening to The Story about your dad.. I have sung many of his songs but was so surprised by the story ... Thank you for sharing this about your mom
I have just recently found out from my mom that I am related to Hank. My mom's mother was Elizabeth Snow, who later became known as Elizabeth Burris. My moms name is Aletha Burris, well Washburn now. I'm glad to be able to learn a bit about my families past. Thank you for posting this Jimmie....
Enjoyed the video so much, my Mom adored your fathers singing and saw him at a concert in Petite Riviere ,Nova Scotia, my brother was named Eugene after Hank, thank you for sharing
Hi Jimmie I think this video is fabulous, it's great to see you all together on film. I met you when i visited your Dad and came to meet you at the Evengal Temple with my friend Bob Pappas who lived at Virgina Beach Virginia at that time, and you gave us some of the Live at Evengal Temple Albums. Your Dad drove us to the Opry that weekend, and the following weekend. I have a group photo that i would like to send to you Your Dad used it in his Life Story. Or will mail in C/O Opryland USA.
That was wonderful. Thanks for sharing it. My dad was a huge fan of your father's. I always think of Dad's "big 3" as Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams, and Hank Snow, in no particular order. As a kid, I grew up listening to the album "The One and Only Hank Snow." The song that has always stood out to my brother and me off that album is "Lazy Bones," and that's not an easy recording to find these days. At any rate, I've been playing a lot of your dad's music the last few days as I study for my Doctor of Ministry degree, and it's making me think a lot about my dad and how I miss him.
I have that album of recitations by Hank, it’s titled “ Old Doc Brown and other recitations”. It’s a great albums. Hank Snow like Hank Williams Sr. knew how to recite and make it sound “conversational”. Very few performers have that gift!
That brought tears to my eyes. My father was a huge fan of your father. I listened to his music growing up. Along with Hank Williams. Thank you for posting this. Such lovely family video, to be cherished always.
Thanks for posting Jimmie. My late Dad was a big Hank Snow fan and got to meet the band backstage one time and got all the band's autographs but somehow never got Hank's . Just thought I'd share that little bit of info!
Rev. Snow, that was lovely. I also have to laugh about something that was not in the video. One night, your father was hosting the TNN portion of the Opry and he announced that "my world's biggest critic, Mrs. Hank," was in the audience with her sister but he promised not to look at her. He happened at that moment to look right at someone. I KNOW the guys in the truck went to work. As they went to the commercial, they got them on camera and your mother ... was not thrilled. Thanks again!
Thanks for sharing this. Mr. Snow has always been one of my very favorites and whenever I play my guitar for friends I try to include at least 1 Hank song, in honor of him. Mr. Snow always sung his songs well and never let his listeners down. He was consistent to the end.
Hi Jimmy, I first met you in 1997 through John MacIsaac. John & I had quite a jam the night before & he said he would introduce me to you & he did at the Hank Snow Museum, the next day. I handed you my Brand New cassette, "Just The Two Of Us", & you commented how nice my daughter (Anna Marie) looked. Met you again at the Pirate's Inn, through Bernie. I've been singing Hank songs since 1960, where on the HMCS Lanark I learned my first chords. I believe I've played Movin' On almost as much as your Dad did. I just love seeing this type of Videos, with you & your family, in a natural setting, I hope you post more. I apologize for the name I adopted, but it was in the infancy of the Net, & I knew almost nothing about it, but I'll never apologize for him being my favourite Country Singer & the absolute # 1 Guitar Player.....Thanks for this....
Hey Jimmie, been listening to Hank for years, just recently found out I may have relation from my mothers side of my family, the Cossetts. Thanks for uploading this btw :)
