I was a sound guy at a church in Florida. She showed up early, the large was empty, sound amplified sound. She asked me to sit next to her, she warmed up with this song. No amplification, empty sanctuary, her voice and song brought me to tears. It truly changed my life. After many years it still brings me to tears.
I can't imagine how amazing that would be. I love her testimony and her voice.

I heard this song nearly 20 years ago, and I don't know why it stuck with me. I don't even listen to Christian contemporary music, nor do I often like it. My whole life often seems like a valley, and nowadays, more often than not, I'm angry with God. Wish I could trust Him better, but I guess a large amount of faith wasn't a spiritual gift he decided to give me. I'll go through the valley, because what else am I going to do?
I gotta say that I was obsessed with this song the first time I heard it. It really spoke to me in my teenage years n the anointing behind it is very powerful. It also taught me that God can speak through music.

The movie was even so much more heartbreaking now knowing that Gary Since just recently lost his Son after a battle with cancer. I can only wonder if he had it while his Father made this movie.

As a survivor of Abuse and also a Christian Radio announcer, this song has helped me so much as I got through my abuse and the healing God has brought me and helps me to never allow anyone to treat me like that again. I know it sounds strange, but, I see now that God used that abuse to bring him glory and to help me in my personal walk to trust in him, to grow and be a strong brave person.. This song from Ginny truly was the song that would give me strength to get up every day, remembering the struggles in this world are all worth it - if that's what it took for me to see Jesus face for eternity.

Just fyi here. idk if you read these, Ms. Owens, but if so, I want you to know that this song is by far my go to when I am at my very lowest. That is, unfortunately, more often than a lot of people I know as I am Bipolar with anxiety and deep depression. I may cry every time I NEED to hear this message, but they are tears that remind me that I am NEVER alone. He may be the only one who will never leave me or help pull me back up out of my darkness. And that darkness is a deep and dangerous place. It is fathomless. Also just fyi, so you'll know from where I'm speaking, I'm now a 48 yr old happily married mom of three (almost) adult children. I have a close family. It's never possible to keep myself from still feeling so alone sometimes. I have listened to this song (and many of your others) since I first heard "Free" on the radio in 2000 or so. I want to thank you for listening to God's message and generating it so people like me can feel His love.

She originally wanted to be a choral director / music teacher, but found it a difficult interview each time, because of her loss of sight. Little did her interviewers know about her capabilities, and skills. However, as I have heard her state, the Lord had different plans for her, as we all know...Indeed, she has taught more than many have, just with her incredible music, singing, and speaking talents.

I was 12 when when I first heard this.
Im 31 now. Its been 12 years since I listened to this.
Damn it all i had no idea how bad a fire, how blured the road, how dark the nights would get, how much malicious evil i would come across... and how all those things indent on my soul.
Im no longer the innocent 12 year old that thought this song was "pretty"
Or the 19 year old that thought this song was "somewhat relatable"
Im a lost 31 year old that doesn't understand how someone inspired to write something so profound can praise and rejoice.
Im hardened and bitter. Im angry and vengeful. Im desperate and broken.
Life has shown 2 things. 1. Time is kind to no one. And 2. Sometimes you don't even get TIME to brutalize you.
Your ticket is punched and you have no say at all.
And honorable mention Sometimes there are people that choose when their ticket is punched.
I honestly don't know how one could leave it all to faith.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30). Jesus will remove your heavy burden of guilt and hopelessness and give you true rest in Him.
