Hands down the BEST video I've seen for a beginner like me. Thank you for a Easy to follow, straight to it and no loud music. My friend said "and the most useful information".
Thank you so much for having us video I actually called the New York rep that deals with PitBoss and the other ones who emailed me your link because people us needs to do one thing from Traeger and that is give a full step-by-step instruction on how to prime it and do the first lighting as the one thing that Traeger beats him again thank you so much I'm gonna let it cook for 40 minutes and then we'll go to the first cooking take care of yourself Peter
Just assembled my new 7 Series. Can't wait to smoke a brisket next weekend. Thanks for this video. Really helps me to be prepared, get it started right. Much appreciated.
Looks brand spanking new. I removed the safety grid on my hopper as makes it easier to clean the hopper out when I want to change pellets. I have the Copperhead/series five. Have it about a year. Learning from Louis at R-Shack BBQ I got couple pieces 1/4 inch rebar and cut them to size as shelf width. Got meat hooks from Gateway Pit Barrel smokers. I can hang ribs and chicken. I like my ribs done that way. Good luck. I did two 15 pound whole turkeys last thanksgiving.
Louis is the man to learn from for sure-. John, your going to love this thing. I also have the #5 and the things a beast. smokes well and holds temp pretty good. you can also feed a small army :)... Enjoy it and please keep me posted as you move forward.
Fun Fun!! New bbq toys! Very interesting.. I have never seen a pellet grill this close... I don't know anyone who actually owns one... Looks like a great new cooker though! Can't wait to see you pull something off of it.
Hi there, thank you so much for your very informative and visual demo. I thought I did the priming properly and started the burn up. when I went back to the Pit Boss series 3 vertical the display read ErL which I cannot find in the trouble shooting guide. maybe when priming the flames did not actually start? thanking you in advance for any advice you can offer :)
Well Tommy I hope yours works better than mine. Mine is a total piece of you know what. I've had mine about a year and a half and I've used it three times. If I set the temp at 250 it will jump up to way over 350 and then drop down to about 180 or less. It's done it all three times. It now sits in the back of the garage and gets used as a collect all, it works much better as that. Good luck brother.
@@thegalleryBBQ oh yeah same smoker. Someone told me my thermostat must be bad but I'm so pissed about it I don't even care. I just build my own now, I know they work.
I just bought the onyx edition I did the prime, burn off, and my first cook on it at 250. However, no somke flavor at all what did I do wrong or any suggestions
Hey Tommy I’ve been looking at the pit boss copperhead vertical smoker do you have an opinion on this I’m wanting to know if the model 5 or 7 is the way to go I’m currently using my Traeger or my Masterbuilt 30” vertical smoker to do my custom smoked bacon I want something that can hold more as I do between 40-60 lbs a month thanks for all you do cheers 🔥👍🍺
I'm liking the new toy! I accidentally bought a bag of wood pellets online. I don't have a pellet smoker. I'd send them to you if shipping wasn't more than the bag itself! I'm looking forward to seeing your creations with the new Pit Boss!
Any idea why I'm getting erH? Copperhead is basically new. Only a rack of ribs cooked in it to test. Worked well for that. Getting error now. Cleaned, including temperature probe, and auger is putting out pellets.
It's either a bad board or the temp sensor has a bunch of baked on grease. Clean the temp sensor and if it still doesn't work, call the company for a replacement board and temp sensor. Assuming you registered it.
Thanks Chris. I see Mike, You, Rico and a few others using Pictures in there Thumbs and figured i'd give it a go since it looks cool. so yeah, thanks :).....
It looks like you had a lot of smoke leaking out the top of the door? It’ll start a lot faster next time you fire it up, now that you’ve got pellets in the auger. I might go and buy a copperhead next so I’ll have a dedicated smoker for hanging sausages and bacon when I don’t feel like firing up my WSM. Can’t wait to see what you cook first on it.
Did yours smoke for the entire burn off period or just at first? Mine started smoking just fine but then it stopped smoking. There’s just a small fire in the burn pot that I can see.
I just bought one of these and I'm not sure if the ignitor is bad or what but it won't ignite. I can feel the air coming out but it doesn't even begin to warm up. The augur will drop the pellets in but it just runs and nothing happens. Looks like I'm going to have to return it
Ok that was sooooo cool! Ya learn something new everyday I say! Hmm 🤔 Thank you for this my Tommy! That is definitely one bad ass piece of machinery! Good luck and have fun with it honey. I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot of it. Hehe 😉 🔥 😋 OMG the ending. I am OCD! I wanted to fix your rack! ( Haha that sounds funny but ya know. Haha 😆 ) Much love honey. 😘
Followed steps in the instruction manual exactly, it starts smoking but never catches fire and the auger eventually overills the pot the embers go out and it trips an error code.
Great video. I have watched many of your MB 560 videos too. I can decide between the PB vertical and the MB 560. Which one would you recommend, or are they both great?
I loved my vertical but like my 820 better for the direct flame that i can get for searing. The 560 can be found for a steal at around 300.00. so yeah, both great:)...
The Gallery Backyard BBQ I’ve had mine for a year now. It is great. But for a fat old single person it is really too big for me. But, for a young buck like you with a family and all I think you will make great use of it. All I can say after a year it turns out great food.
The door latch (just by looking at the video) wasn't properly adjusted. In their instruction manual: "Fine tune and test the cabinet door latches and hooks to ensure they align properly and there is a proper seal while the door is closed. Poor alignment may result in heat loss and leaks during use."
**BEWARE FIRE HAZARD** I have been a firm believer and user of this product for some time now. I have done many smokes almost weekly. I maintain and clean my smoker after every use. I have recently found an issue that is concerning and could cause a fire on long smokes. Under the unit were the thermometer line comes through, there is a big hole that allows the grease to run down onto the electrical wires and connectors. It has the potential to cause a fire.
Watched like 10 videos on this and you're the only to actually explain how to use it. Greatly appreciate that.
Glad it was helpful! and hope to see you again!

Thank you!!! Thought I was doing something wrong, but I was not patient enough!
Awesome video was given a used pitt boss and was having trouble getting it going. After watching had no problem getting started smoking.
Thanks Steven. Enjoy it which i'm pretty sure you will.
Never heard anyone say "of course" so many times, but very informative video
Great video brother! Yours is the first to walk through step by step of the setup.
Smoke on!
Thanks and I hope to see you again.
Why would you use smoke for the first burn off, I would think the high temperature would be enough.

Gotta prime your smokers everytime for those who don't know. Very important step!! 👍👍👍
That's Prime it everytime before first use. once used priming is no longer necessary. unless that is you run the cooker out of pellets.🙏🙏🙏

right. 60 lbs. the better part is that easy clean-out as now it allows me to change out pellets 1-2-3. I wish my Rec Tec had that!

Thanks for the comment.
Why does it bother to have a chimney? It looks like 100% of the smoke is gushing out the top door seal
Right?
Has anyone ever tried to install a rotisserie to one of these ?
