Chris Pratt doesn't seem to be a legitimate Mario fan to me, he sounds fake. That's ok though, I think he can do a great job regardless. It just sucks he has to pretend he's a big Mario fan so everyone can think he has actual nostalgia for it and will do a better job because of it. Miyamoto chose him because he's "so cool" after all.
*Edit:* To those who still have no doubt about Chris Pratt's sincerity when he says he is an actual Mario fan whatsoever, I in NO WAY share the mocking tone of this RUclipsr but I think this video: "Chris Pratt's Cringy Mario Movie Interview" from Bradley Smith does a good job at showing why Chris Pratt' interview doesn't sound authentic.

I still don't know what Nintendo was smoking when they were getting the voice actors for this movie, there are so many things wrong with Chris Pratt as Mario, and I can name 3.
1) He just doesn't fit, most of the voices don't outside of Jack's Bowser and Keegan's Toad.
2) Should have just been Charles Martinet, he's in the movie anyway.
And 3) If they just really didn't want Martinet being Mario, why did they get Chris fricking Pratt and not just an Italian, I personally don't care that much about what specific person voices a character, but if I didn't know who the voices are going into the theater and Mario sounds like God damn Barley Lightfoot from Onward, I'd probably get cognitive whiplash before throwing up deuces and leaving.

Why did he take the job if he's not comfortable or genuinely enthusiastic about it? Not like he's a no name actor that needs all the exposure he can get.
Let's be real. Nearly everyone knows about Mario and has played it unless you grew up in China or USSR in the 80s - 90s. Not everyone had a console, but many played in their friends' homes or in the arcade. Our local arcade in Saudi Arabia had a super mario bros in late 90s , and most kids knew about it.
How Funny ! Chris Pratt was 4 years old when the original Mario Bros Arcade cabinet came out, and in that game you could not stomp....Koopas. you had to jump underneath them, flip them over and kick them in the water. Then Super Mario Bros Cabinet came out in early 1986, on a Nintendo VS. System (after the original game came out on NES in 1985) so basically, if that is the version Chris is talking about, he was 7 years old at the time. Spending contless hours in an arcade stomping...koopas when you we're 7 years old in the eighties, is a little hard to believe. In short, Chris is f____ng with you, he has no clue what this movie or character is about.
