My grandmother was a Soddie in the Oklahoma Territory. I would have loved for her to tell me more about this, but she was so little back then and now she's gone. Its neat that I get this chance to have a peak back into her world. Thank you.
I love this! The plow and cutting tool would have helped a lot! In Ireland, they use hand tools, but the idea is the same, also their houses have more room. I love the clay that he put inside.... and how was this moved? What an interesting undertaking!

I'm so glad this house was able to be preserved. Next time my daughter and I are in Oklahoma, I would like to go to this museum.

Loved this video. I was assigned to teach US History at my high school this Fall, and I'm definitely using this in my lesson. Thank you!

I really enjoyed this. I've been researching Oklahoma pioneer history in the Old West. Thanks y'all!

@@OklahomaGardening sure but a link to would be helpful? I tried searching.
The idea of flowers blooming on the roof sounds cool, but I’m not sure about the ceiling snakes and mice.
People were tough back then I guess 😂
Modern waterproofing materials would seal out critters unless maybe an angry rat comes along.
@@ChristisKing9292 Angry rats always come along.
I searched what is sod bricks. During reading magic tree house, i was curious about sod bricks and us history. Thanks for the clip.

Did you build the museum around it or really carefully pick the whole thing up?
I was able to tour this museum about a year & a half ago. The museum was built around the sod house to protect & preserve it.
Built strong to last this long

Aren't Americans enterprising, even then. Wowwee.
Every culture on earth is enterprising, which is why those cultures still exist.
