- In today's versus/analyses/comparison super mario video we are going to look at the origin, secrets, timeline, story, lore, mysteries and history of the castles seen in the legend of zelda and super mario series made by nintendo. We have seen these fortresses in games like the legend of zelda ocarina of time, the legend of zelda twilight princess, the legend of zelda skyward sword, the legend of zelda majora’s mask, the legend of zelda the wind waker, super mario sunshine, super mario 64, super mario galaxy, new super mario bros, super mario odyssey and even super mario odyssey and the legend of zelda breath of the wild for the new nintendo switch. one is an actual medieval castle, with guards (though not very competent) working defenses and an actual economic hub. Peach's isn't even a castle, but a chateau, basically a glorified mansion shaped like a castle.

Much like some of the castles in the uk. Quite alot were built or converted for more peaceful times with functions in mind and had turrets but they were purely decorative.

The Mario Odyssey one is the simplest on the series, but my favorite is the Bowser's Inside Story one. It really is a castle, and it's HUGE, not as big as the Partners in Time one, but is safer.

Hey, you're using the simplest Peach Castle in Mario series. You could use the Bowser's Inside Story one or the Partners in Time one. They are both much bigger, and the Bowser's Inside Story one is easily the most dificult to invade, since it's entirely in the middle of a huge lake and it has three wall sections before the front door of the the castle itself, and the only way to acess It is by a bridge with a gate in the middle or flying over the walls. I agree with the hyrule castle being the best but you could make a more fair fight.

Great video! Personally, I think Mushroom Castle is prettier from the outside than Hyrule Castle is, but Hyrule Castle is more majestic and impressive. As soon as I saw the thumbnail, I knew Hyrule Castle would win. It's objectively the better castle, because of the typical, strong architecture and the fact that it actually is guarded by soldiers!

It takes hundreds to thousands of years for Hyrule Castle to be or almost destroyed. Along with the rest of Hyrule and the World to be threatened to be destroyed as well. As for the Mushroom Kingdom they're threatened with destruction or usurping all the time.
Thus making Hyrule more safer, just a bit.
Yeah because in Breath of the Wild Calamity Ganon came out to destroy the whole kingdom and corrupting the castle. Which says that a very very powerful entity is the only thing that can take hold of the castle. Not some oversized turtle

No. Peaches castle was clearly built in more peaceful times. Much like some of the castles in the uk, peach's castle was probably designed more for holding functions and events rather than to protect. Her castle is still great though.

Alex plays well yeah, Peach's castle is great. It's fun to visit and generally prat about in. But as a defensive structure...it just can't compare. But as I've already pointed out, it wasn't built for that.
Peach's castle was built as home and a place to hold events and functions (big fancy parties). Hyrule castle on the other hand is largly built for housing and defending the royal family, defence being it's core purpose.

I wouldn't call Peach's "Castle" a castle. Castles are built to defend their occupants from an attacking army. It's why they were built. It's why they had crennalations, which are the walls on top of the castle with gaps that allow the defenders to fire arrows at attackers from relative safety (compared to the attackers out in the open). It's more of a palace.
Zelda's castle. I can see how it would protect the royal family. It would explain why a Zelda seems to only get captured once every few centuries, usually by a magical foe that had to deceive everyone into lowering their guard first. Compare to Peach, who is one person who keeps getting captured over and over again because her castle isn't going to defend her from anything worse than the weather.
To make a fight more faire he could have use peache castle from Mario and Luigi partner in time who is the most difficult to invade and is bigger , I think Zelda 's one would still win but just to have a sense of equallyti (sorry my English is certainly really bad)

Not only that, but if she's the actual head of state of the Mushroom Kingdom and isn't a queen, then doesn't that make the country a principality instead?

No her people just adore her a LOT. So much so that they created the stained glass window that hangs on the castle so when peach is away they can look at it and hope for her return.
In terms of defensive ability there is one single instance in which Peach's Castle would win:

Wait, if your using the Odyssey castle isn’t the castle literally on a giant tower where nobody without any way to fly can’t get up to? That seems like a better way to defend yourself then Zelda’s castle.
Epic Monkey that's definetly true, in fact, that might be the reason bowser has infested so much suddenly in it's flying technology's. Just look at the kindom bowser lives in in oddesey (dun kkow the name anymore sorry) every landscape there is floating around. I think, from a tactical standpoint, peach would be better off building underground, since bowsers troops haven't got any technological advancements there and his troops has zero training in underground combat. They do have in airial combat. Just look at all those flying troops he has!

Epic Monkey well you are definetly right about the moles, I forgot abput them ^^" and although you are right about there being underground enemies (not gonna count the many spin off mario games like Paper Mario) yes they do exist, but overal these enemies are just animals living underground and when they are troops from Bowser, they aren't specificly "underground troops" overal ther are normal troops who have been placed there to guard it. But they haven't been upgraded for underground combat Just like the airial troops have. With wings on their back and flying boats. Except of course for the moles, thanks for pointing that out ^^.

i don't think that this versus is fair because the hyrule castle is made for wars and in all the zelda games there are soldiers but the toads are not warriors and there is not really big threats for the mushroom castle so this is normal that the castle or the town doesn't have defenses they never been confronted to a big threat like the Hylians with Ganon

AirCooledMan2006 No, she did that because the alternative was put a fight that was as good as lost. Zant basically gave her the option to live but unconditionally surrender or fight him and die. When he meant die, he meant everyone. He would have slaughtered all the people in Hyrule. Zelda knew of Hyrule's legends and knew there would be a hero to show up and save the day whenever needed, so she decided to surrender and bide her time.

The Hyrule castle is also quite easy to defend. Those high towers are pretty much impossible to get in except from the inside. Even if you get inside they are protected for quite a while so you are going to take huge losses no matter what.

it doesn't have to be famous Zelda risked it off in breath of the wild and fought ganon alone for her kingdom and she sealed him away she mostly fights ganondorf when she gets kidnapped peach doesn't ganon is stronger than bowser because he is merciless that is why hyrule gets destroyed sometimes but Zelda is always prepared for when he strikes and gets the kingdom of hyrule again and fixes it

She also saved her kingdom MANY times such as: Mario bros: using her white magic to break bowser's black magic to get her whole kingdom back to itself, Mario rpg: where she herself decides to help and fight alongside Mario and his cast and defeated smithy and even culex who is a time manipulator (do i have to mention she can even resurrect?),M&L partners in time: where she fought even when she was a small baby wearing a diaper, M&L bowser inside story: She threw bowser out of her castle with her wish power, Mario bros 2: She saved the subcon alongside Mario and the cast (she summons vegetables infinitely and the vegetables can be combined to stop time), Mario bros 3: she sends Mario letters that includes helpful items and also somehow knows what's ahead of him so she tells him to be aware, Paper mario: using her wish power she can make a VERY powerful beam called Peach beam that broke bowser's invincible (made out of a wish) shield that not even the star sprites could break, Super paper mario: Created the chaos heart (which is simply universe-destroying) when she and bowser married, Mario 64: She was helping Mario even when she was trapped inside her castle'swall by letting her spirit out and guiding him and she even have a whole celestial world that is the cap tower level, and many more.
through out the entire Zelda series Zelda fights, seals ganon the most strongest being (or god) ever,warns link about ganon and how to get the master sword and she is the goddess hylia and possess the most powerful thing in the universe the triforce of wisdom that adds on more power beyond imagination

to be fair, mushroom kingdom is a post-game area which is only there to be a reference to the hub world in mario 64. its not made to fit any of these standards and is simply a reference.

do you think before breath of the wild that the separate timelines formedback into one timeline? I haven't played breath of the wild myself. but from what ive seen , it seems like story elements from all the games came into one in this one, ides from the past ones fleshed out. a 1000 year skip can allow for some earth shattering event that brought the timelines together. I think there's two nods to different games in separate timelines during breath of the wild. idk tho. lol

I sometimes wondered if Hyrule and the Mushroom Kingdom existed in the same world. In comparison, I think Hyrule Castle and Castle Town are more defensible than Castle Toadstool and Toad Town.
Castle Town was taken down before, but it was from the inside. Enemies could perhaps just walk into Toad Town.
On another note, I wonder if the Dekus and Toads would get along.

The answer is “bowsers castle”. It has a lava moat and in “bowsers inside story” it can f@cking fly. So defense is taken care of. It has his head as part of it, so it wins on design. And it has all kinds of cool shit like a Scrooge mcduck style treasure chamber and a theatre
i mean with the tech that exist in mario games, a castle wall ain't going to help much anyhow.
the whole point of a wall is to block off an area, but with bowsers robots and cannons, he can just blow a hole in it if they wanted too. at that point a wall is a glorified fence to fend of wild animals.
But there's a problem you see whenever Zeldas Castle gets raided or captured it always keeps getting heavily damaged,Destroyed or in ruins while Princess Peachs castle can take cannon balls Magic Lightning and only smoke comes out as Well as survive being yanked into space even if it had to take a piece of land with it (See Super Mario DS and Mario Galaxy 1) So in the end it should have been who has to pay less in Home insurance.
Hyrule castle would win- have you seen Zoolda's power? Oh yeah. It has real guards. Beside that 1 in the cartoon

Building a wall around Toad Town wouldn't make any sense because Bowser could easily fly over it. And I think that place some cannons wouldn't fit to peach.

Let me break this with an actual research:
Design: Peach's castle changed many times throughout the Mario series, some were pretty elegant and some were truly magical such as her castle in mario golf advance. Her castle(s) is truly magical and beautiful so the design goes for Peach.
For defense: The mushroom kingdom is the "Magical" type of kingdom so it being in the middle of hills and such is suitable. For the walls and such, it goes to Zelda but only by a bit. But overall of this category goes to Peach cause believe it or not, toads are actually stronger than the hylian soldiers and Peach is stronger than Zelda so that means the Mushroom kingdom have stronger forces which means better defense so it goes to Peach as well.
For the social and economy: The mushroom kingdom is the most famous (and biggest apparantly) kingdom as stated by odyssey, it has always been peaceful and bowser's invasion aren't that serious since bowser is like their friend so Peach wins this too.
Bayonetta Mario Galaxy says otherwise. The castles "magical" properties didn't stop Bowser at any point in the Mario series and the Toads cower in fear behind their princess. Peach never defends herself against Bowsers attacks
It's pretty funny in all honesty, that Bowser really poses little threat in most of the games.

I never said it being "Magical" protects the kingdom, i just mentioned that cause he said it's location is wrong and what not. And i am pretty sure you don't know this but bowser isn't actually evil. And Peach is A LOT more capable of defeating him but she (as implied MANY times) acts being fragile. And i know toads aren't strong enough to beat bowser, i said they're stronger than hyrule's soldiers.
And i can give you proof of any of the things i said so just ask

Peach, unlike Zelda, isn't afraid of bowser. Peach laughed, didn't care, fought, and even played cards with bowser before (i didn't even include Mario tennis, mario golf, mario party, mario kart, super smash, etc. Where she also played with bowser). Peach has defeated AND helped bowser many times such as 3D world, M+R kingdom battle, and obviously Super princess peach. She helped him in Mario rpg as well.
Peach has many powers that surpasses Zelda's but Zelda doesn't, so tell me, how could Zelda beat Peach?
I kind of don't understand why the mushroom kingdom has castles and stuff like that if they are technically as ore more advanced as the shikah as you can see in Mario kart
